So, here's what I've got in store for me with this Italeri kit. SOFT HDPE plastic, so gotta figure out how to glue it, that's gonna be an issue. I've read about roughing up the surfaces to be glued and use 2 part epoxy, so, I'll give that a try. Anyway, the kit comes with 10 figures, but, they are just 5 figures x 2 each, so, I'm not going to use the second set. There will be only 1 officer and 2 men per gun. Not true, but, the other guys will be just 'off set' at the exact moment of my dio. Here's some dry fitting to see what I'm in for and the TON of clean up needed on the mold lines on almost every single piece:

This 6" howitzer barrel is in two pieces..gonna be tough to glue together. Dunno why they use this plastic for model kits!!!

Here's the Gribeauval 12 pounder with crew and the officer standing by:

Let the clean up begin!

Well I started on the trebuchet. It's going very fast. Once I'm finished I'll try to get a video of the thing working.

Modelcrazy - to you and all the GB modelers, if there is anything I can help with let me know.Though not a GB person, as some of you know artillery is my life.  I do have some background material on US artillery on my site...click on the banner below or feel free to contact me here or through the site. With that said, keep your powder dry, sounds like you are safe and ready to fire!

Thanks redleg! we may just do that.

Was wondering if a M108 or 109 was okay in this build?

It would be perfect GT.

I may be a weee bit past that start date to get my French guns moving!!

Just as long as you bring them up limbered in time to support Napoleon's advance.

though the railings are annoying but they are on all of them. so not only will you have a bunch of rail car wheels and a crap load of armor roadwheels. HA! i

To put on a flatcar I suppose? I see what you doing. Your trying to get me to commit to a flatcar too  Wink

actually these things had a 2 rail truck cantilever system which suspended it in transit. (the german mortar, not the atomic cannon)Big Smile

Wayne I seriously considered the Dora/Gustav, but i've committed to a couple of the guys GB's and after my 86 I'm building a WR360 for our build. A couple of the builds are short term projects but just maybe? If I order one I'll build it. Once I get a couple of the builds done I'll have what I need to do it but the track needs to be scratched.

Wayne,

The missing breach is one of the reasons I'm going to build the Hase Mörser Karl instead (for your RR build, and for my Artillery build), besides It just looks too cool! I don't know anything about the Hase Thor kit that I have, but it looks like it's going to be a fun build.

Steve

really easy enough to fix now that you know. the rest is easy though the railings are annoying but they are on all of them. so not only will you have a bunch of rail car wheels and a crap load of armor roadwheels. HA! i

Steve, I hate to be repetitive but I'd like to change my entry to a Leopold Rail Gun in 1/72 by Hobby Boss.

I know Wayne's doing the 1/35 big boy gun but I'd like to do the little brother in 1/72. I know Cody has sign up for the Hasegawa model but with all these big guns, that front page will look very cool.

Thanks, Terry

somebody needs to volunteer a DORA. the HOBBYBOSS looks like a nice kit. if i hadn't already built the HASAGAWA, i would do this as practice for the 1/35. may still do it. as for both the track isn't as easy to paint as the 1/35 and i think the HASAGAWA track is a bit better because the ballast is smaller. both have the ties molded to the ballast and i found i can lay my own track faster than trying to paint the plastic tracks and it looks better. also i think hastily laid railroad gun track would not be elevated like actually long haul tracks.( i know i need to put together a how to)

MC the HASAGAWA doesn't have a breech, just a hole in the back that needs a piece of plastic on the inside.trust me it's easier to do it during building than ater it's built. and the OTS ATOMIC CANNON is in the queue this year, probably when i do the next  1/72 GB.

Holy smokes! A 1/35 K5, that's gota be massive.

I was hoping you would want to build the Atomic Canon. I'd love to see that.
