Thanks Gamera, and yes I am! I've started the diorama. I have a lot of work to do still, but I'm currently on vacation in Boston right now and far away from my workbench! The good news is, I popped the question to my girlfriend on the deck of the USS Constitution this afternoon. And she said yes! Here's a photo of what I've got of the the diorama so far. I'm almost done working on the figures and I've got the scene all mapped out.

Looks like it's going to be a nice diorama. Looking forward to seeing it done.  If you are still in the area and able, check out the HobbyBunker in Malden, it's just outside of Boston. And congrates to you and your fiancee.

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone!

RX- We didn's get a chance to go up to Malden, but I looked on the MBTA map and it turns out we can take a train up there the next time we visit Boston. That store is definitely on my list of places to see now, thanks for the heads up!

Gamera- I should have been keeping you and everyone else posted these past few weeks, but once again work, life, and playoff hockey got in the way! I'm pleased to report that I finished my diorama last night after working on it for about a week! Here are some photos:

The grass and trees are woodland scenics, and the walls of the ruined farm house are made of cardboard and balsa wood.

The ruins inside the farmhouse are actual bits of charred wood! I went out to my smoker last night and grabbed a piece of used wood out of the firebox. I took a #11 blade to it and shaved off some chunks. I applied some elmer's glue to the display base and placed the chunks on the board.

The British figures who are creeping up on the unsuspecting German bonfire are made by Zvezda.

I added some fake greens to the front of the Brummbar to give it that "crew-applied camo" look.

The bonfire was created with an LED tea light, chopped wood from a twig i found in my backyard, and bits of a cotton ball.

This tank and the diorama turned out EXACTLY how I wanted them to. I'm quite pleased with the results and I'm so happy it's finished. Thanks to everyone who checked this build out and gave me tips on it! Now if you'll excuse me, this hockey game is getting intense and it's calling my name!

Hey that's cool! Guess another nice thing about the scale is that you can still keep a diorama fairly small.

Really like the bonfire, clever idea there. Idea

Really a nice project for a novice. Quite ambitious in scope and nicely executed! I endorse any project that uses a fine E string too. :)

Good job. What's next?

Congrates on bringing your vision to fruition. I like how it came out, especially the use of an  l.e.d for a bonfire. Looking forward to seeing you build the Churchill tank.
