Hi All,
This is my completed Tamiya 1/35 Gama Goat, built OOB with no extras.
Build SummaryThe kit went together perfectly. No issues apart from some ejector pin marks on the bottom of the vehicle, and a few on the inside of the front canvas cover. The paint job took me a month to do, as I was on and off, it is quite complex, but I tried my best. It was all airbrushed. Weathering was done with Tamiya panel liner and Vallejo Streaking grime, plus Tamiya Weathering Master sets. I chose not to chip the vehicle as I wanted to display a well maintained but stained vehicle.
As always I am concerned with the build, the finish and paint job, and not with historical accuracy or rivet counting, and am quite happy with this kit overall. I could have done a bit better with the side view mirrors as they broke off quite a few times.
I hope you all take the time to watch the videos - especially my new Time-lapse build (First one I have ever done) as it does take quite some time to do up.

Well the photos look good. I am not a video guy when it comes to the hobby, so no feedback from me there. Your finished build looks pretty close to what I remember of those things. Just in better shape. Very nicely done!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

Thanks stikpusher, I chose to go for a more cleaner look.
Fantastic job! Love the canvas covers, you got a great cloth effect there.

Looks Great! Are the canvas covers part of the kit or did you make them from scratch?
thanks, Rudy

Thanks Rudy. Yes the canvas covers are part of the kit. If you check out the build video you can see them being built.
Gamera Fantastic job! Love the canvas covers, you got a great cloth effect there.
Thanks Gamera
Nice, I like your traditionalist approach to painting. Thanks for sharing the step by step vids too.

Great job on a vehicle universally despised by the troops. I think the ambulance version was the last type used by the 82nd ABN.
Well done! I too love the work on the canvas. Very nice piece
Thanks,
John

Thanks all. Appreciate the comments,
SamuraiNice job, I'm working on the same kit. Couldn't tell if you waited until after painting to insert the windshield pieces. It appears they would be difficult to add them afterwards.
Hi Samurai. I added the windows at the end, after the last matte coat was applied. To do this dont glue the part that sits behind the windscreen until after the clear parts go in. Also the canvas would go on after that.
Good job on this one. I never saw one in person but I used to hear stories when I was in the Army about them from some of the older guys. As others have said, there weren't a whole lot of folks who liked that vehicle.

I was amazed that this kit was even kitted when it was--I never even heard of it. But alot of guys apparently know what this is, and spent time with them. You made a nice representation of it as a model, even though I've never seen one. :)
