Thanks Joe and John.

After painting and weathering and masking and trying to air brush Molotow onto the rocker covers(and not succeeding at it this time around) I'm at the point where I think I can post something worth lookin' at. I must've stripped those rocker covers 3 times and tried the Molotow treatment on them. Just wasn't working out this time so I finally grabbed a set of chrome rocker covers from one of my spare Revell Hemi Dart kits that had a 440 in it and put them on. Still have some detail painting on those to do, exhaust manifolds install, carburetor & return spring & bracket and throttle linkage build and install, engine electrical harness and plug wires to put together and install but after a long couple of weeks I figured it was time to post something. I've still got a long way to go on this engine but here it is so far:

There hasn't been a whole lot in the way of progress over the last 8 days from me but it's because I've been throwing everything I've got at this engine.

Progress so far and ……………...Happy Thanksgiving you guys.

New member so had a grand catch-up. Perfect NASCAR stance, great wheel/tire choice, excellent engine bay/engine work. Exterior/interior finishes, eyepopping. Raced against a lot of these full size wedge cars. Impressive reconstruction. PaulE

Details added. Now it's time to top it all off with the air cleaner but before I did that I figured I'd snap one more shot so that all the details could be seen. All that's left is the air cleaner and it's time for the assembly to be installed into the car. From there......it's radiator core support install and off to final parts installations.

Mustang,

How did you get the wires into the dist? Every time I try I make a hot mess out of it.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

And me, I've been afraid to try, ever since I planned to try it someday, just about 50 years ago.

Thanks you guys. I'll see if I can cover it in a tutorial here. I've got a few pictures gathered together that may help you all out

Ok fellas. Now I can move ahead with the rest of the build now that I've got this part out of the way. I may come up with another air cleaner out of the stash as I'm just not feeling 100% satisfied with this one. But I'll call this completed.....for now.

Thanks John!! It's been brought up on another forum that adding the lower part of the air cleaner may help the way that I feel about the way it looks. I may just give that a try.

What can I say but, NAILED IT! Very sweet engine. I do hope that you find an air cleaner that brings you into an emotional balance with the universe. You car folk are indeed a different sort.Big SmileWink

Sweet work sir!

Btw, on my commute to work I was passed by a untility van that was painted orange and it had the 01 on its sides. I had a good chuckle.

Ok folks.....being pretty much unhappy with the air cleaner that I had on the engine I searched high and low and found one more air cleaner in my stash that actually goes on a 440 and shot it with Molotow Chrome through an airbrush. This time the results were pure magic...……

This looks MUCH better to me....
