Thank all of you for the comments. I managed to get the engine installed and the headers painted and attached. Added a small amount of blueing to the end of the exhaust outlets. Not much.....just enough for effect. I also painted and installed the driveshaft.

About all that's left here is to fabricate some steering linkage and the bottom side will be done save for some scratch built wheelie bars.

Well.

I have gone through the whole group of posts. Ya, Know, I think the owner of the real car would be proud of the Model. I usually don't usually like cars of this nature, But "Dyno Don" Showed they could be mean assed race cars while NOT looking like the body was added as an afterthoght. Quite handsome after all!

Wonderful stuff. Everything is looking sharp. Can't wait for you to bring this beauty on home.

She's gettn' there one piece at a time Joe and thanks for the encouragement ol' buddy.

Welll gang, over the course of the last week I've been at this one again as far as engineering goes.  I chucked up several of these pins in the drill and ground the heads up against a file to reduce the diameter of the pin heads.

Image

They still need a little shortening but I cut all of them down to the same length.

Image

And here are the plug wire boots test fitted into place. Just gotta shorten 'em some and paint them all flat black and they'll be fully prepped for the spark plug wire installation.

Thanks Joe!!!!

Managed to get all the ignition wires formed and installed over the last couple of days.

This is NOT what I was opting for because these wires should be red but the "spark plug wire" that I got sent was the scale size of a battery cable so I went for orange.

Ah I see now. Im getting old, and things just don't pop in my head like they used to. I thought you were going to mount them skinny side up, and push the wires down over them. Looks great Joe

I think the orange wires look sharp. In fact, it all looks sharp. Coming along beautifully my friend.

Thanks Lee and Joe for the very kind comments. No worries Lee. You aint the only one in that boat.Wink

I just didn't like how the "magneto" on the engine looked and it wasn't "correct" for the build so I removed it and went with a regular coil. I also dirtied up the ignition wires as well.

The new coil certainly adds to the detail. Well done.

Been working on the fuel induction the whole week. I started out with the intake runners and plenum. Shot with the unpainted carburetors from Futureattraction:

Image

Then I shot a coat of Tamiya X-31 Titanium Gold on 'em, filled in the throttle bores with some flat black and assembled them

Image

Then came a dark brown acrylic wash, allowed to dry and followed up with a dry brushing of ground up black pastel to flatten it all out and add some "age" to them.

I took a comparative pic of both carbs. One on the left is with the wash and pastel treatment and the one on the right is without it.

Image

And with both carburetors painted and "weathered". Now.....it's time to add the details.

Superb effort on making the carbs look the real part. That technique really makes them pop.

So....now that the two pieces are finally together the whole engine takes on a much different appearance. Just have the throttle linkage and a few other details to add and this part will be complete.

Thanks John! Yes

Throttle linkage is around 90% complete. Still gotta and the levers from the firewall to the throttle quadrant (that still has to be added as well) and from the quadrant up to the carburetors.

I was looking at the cam covers and noticed something was missing.  Is there no decal for the Ford logo that was cast into the covers?  You've got the oval, but no Ford script.  Just curious.
