I would definitely not recommend sanding Lt...that will undoubtedly result in "softening" of the lines of the hood and you'll end up with a noticeably reworked panel (I'm speaking from experience). Doog was putting you on the right path IMHO, with the use of a (paint) stripper.

There are numerous different products you can use depending on whether you painted with acrylics or enamels; when I'm stripping acrylic I use a "floor stripper" designed to strip off acrylic floor polish. When I'm stripping enamel I use Easy-Off oven cleaner (toxic: use with appropriate ventilation and rubber gloves).

Just coat your hood with the stripper and let it sit...go back an hour or so later and scrub the piece with an old toothbrush (or similar soft bristled [i.e. non-damaging] abrasive item) and you should have a "fresh-start" sitting in your hands (or you may have to repeat a second time, especially with enamels). By the time you rinse it off, you've also done a thorough cleaning to ensure your previous contaminent has been removed. Good luck.

I'm going through the same problem right now, but my paint is wrinkeling. So I got a hold of the manufacturer, and they said to re coat with in one hour or after 5 days. I said that the can said 3 days. well I haven't heard back from them concerning this misdirection on the can. DON'T buy duplicolor paint, it's crap . "In my opinion".

Dan- It looks like to me the hood had oil or mold release on it. Most likely just oil from your fingers. This will cause the paint to "Fisheye" . After you strip, sand  or any other method you might use to - wash the hood with a mild detergent soap. After it has dried take a coffee filter damp with Isopropyl alcohol and wipe it down before you paint it again and those pesty littles dots will stand no chance of coming back.

No No No LOL it is the can propellant with the airbrush attached to the end of it...and it says DO NOT SHAKE that

No I guess that I should not have called it "done" I am going to strip the hood and re-shoot it. I like the way that you put that it is "useless". I have never thought of it that way but now that it is put in those terms...I could not agree anymore. I will go and pick up the same paint tonight or 2marrow and retry. Would you suggest just sanding it? Would that work? I have a TON of 600?

Boy, that's a shame.

As far as calling it "finished"; it ain't. Get some "Simple Green" from Walmart or Lowe's or Home Depo, and strip the hood, and repaint it. That model is useless like that. Other than that, it is a beautiful car. Don't settle for that hood...

Take another look at the instructions.  I have never seen rattle can paint of any type which did not say SHAKE WELL -- usually for sixty seconds or longer.

Other than the hood, your rattle can paint job looks pretty good to me.  You're getting there.

Looks like water got into the paint. Are you using a compressor without a moisture trap?
