Not sure if you can access this or not, but here's an interesting take on a Nomad that I did a few years ago.

Model Car Garage has a PE set for the 56 Nomad.  Several of those parts could probably be used for your 57.  I'm thinking the grill won't be, though.

All I can say is make sure the doors, hood tailgate fit BEFORE painting. Especially the later repops. I did this one in the 70's & it still fit. However, I was informed that the later reissues (Skips Fiesta) may have some trim fit issues and or warpage that should be carefully checked before final painting. May need some tweaking.

If you want, you can make door hinges out of paperclips and styrene dowel, but I never had any problems with the kit hinges... It's up to you. Good Luck.

P.S. There are emblems for the front hood that should be fitted and puttied BEFORE painting. Then you can carefully remove paint in just the raised areas and this applies to the tailgate too.

Revell 57 Nomad tips and tricks anyone?

Hi,

I'm about to start building an old Revell 57 Nomad (circa 1988). I looked all over for a model that had opening doors, hood, tailgate and back window and finally found one.

I'd like to do a good job on it and possibly do some after market add-ons to detail it even more. But I'm new to the auto side of modeling; is there a company that does detail kits for cars? Truthfully the chrome bumpers aren't very good. It's fine for most of the finish, but pebbly on the right sides. I'm also interested in better ways of attaching the doors, hood, tailgate and back window, like scale hinges instead of the bulky funky looking doodads Revell came up with.

Any ideas? Any tips or tricks for making this an outstanding model would be really welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Bill
