Stunning. Yep, Speedway decals are awesome. I got a set of Dukes decals waiting to be used.

beautiful nice decal work .
Nick.
Those look absolutely excellent Joe. And the fact that they went on without issue, priceless. Got me fingers crossed for you when you apply your final gloss coat over them.

Thanks Joe! I'd better cross my fingers because I guess the ol' "decal gods" ( there's really only one in my book) were with me as well because these things went on flawlessly. I got these from Speedway Decals and they were a great restoration of the originals.
Oh Yes! That "Wet Look" gloss coat is the boss. Fantastic! That is indeed curious concerning the bubbles. Chalk it up to living right Joe. Gotta love when you're in good favor with the paint gods. Slick job on the hood surgery also.
crown: I hear ya on the reading glasses alright. I miss looking at stuff without glasses but it's just one of those things of many.
Greg: Thanks good friend. You tell me and we'll both know on those bubbles......and yes....that was scary as hell.
Holy cow, that is a glossy finish.
If you ever figure out what was up with the bubbles, please elaborate. That would be scary.
I should use my reading glasses lol what I have is Boyd high gloss clear enamel and testors top coat clear enamel still good stuff
Thanks Lee! I used MM One Coat Lacquer in the spray can as well. I did an airbrush job on my 56 Ford F-100 and was not as happy with the outcome as I am this one.
crown r n7 I have the same stuff in 1/2oz bottels thats some thick stuff.
I have the same stuff in 1/2oz bottels thats some thick stuff.
The stuff in 1/2 oz bottles is just Testors laquer, not the Wet Look clear, diffrent formula. And it is intended for brushing, thus the thickness. It can be thinned for airbrushing however. Looking great! That is a nice off the can finish. What black did you use?
You've got that right! It levels great though.
The "secret weapon" that my good compadres from Mexico advised me to use at the last show. Model Master "Wet Look" in spray can form.

Wow what kind of clear did you use
Got the gloss coat on this morning. When I initially started spraying the gloss coat what seemed like the perfect horrorific nightmare was unfolding as I saw nothing but bubbles. I all but resolved myself to a treatment in Purple Power or brake fluid when all the sudden all of bubbles just went away and left me with this:
.
With the reflection of my camera and hand in the gloss finish I couldn't help but snap a couple of shots off:
Gimme a couple of days and I'll get some sort of tutorial posted for you on that. It took me asking a computer guroo at work to get mine all straightened out a few years ago. Now it's a snap.
I managed to get some bonus bench time in tonight and got the hood opening cut out for the dual quads. Here we are all drilled...
and then cut out..........
Lots of clean up left to do just on the hood. The molding process on these bodies and related parts is nothing short of sloppy. Revell gets my vote on this one.
It didn't help things when I cracked the hood at the very back. That's currently being handled though.
Yes I had to remove the 2015 badge it wouldn't let me update anything with in place
Thanks Nick! I see you've got you're GB badge dilema figured out.
nice like a copier drum !
Thank you Joe and Greg! I'm happy so far. Gonna let this cure out for a while!
oooh, now that's smoot. All that prep work paying off....
SWEEET!! Looks like you laid down one beautiful, smooth and slick coat of paint. It turned out fantastic Joe. Now, that must feel like some major progress.
I've got the black on as of this morning........
The first pic has been lightened a little to show the detail while the second one is unaltered to show the correct shade. In any case............she's black:
Thanks Greg! I picked up the paint today. We'll see how it all turns out.
Looking fwd to the paint job for sure, Joe.
Thanks Lee, Joe and Greg!
I made the scribe marks for the hood opening this morning and have drilled out the dot-to-dot holes for the cut out so I'll get started on that tomorrow morning. I also shot the last coat of primer on this morning to make everything nice and uniform. I hope to get paint on this thing in the next few days after I get the hood cut-out finished and all primed up.
Our couch is way too big for our little living room, but we just live with it. The roof still fits over the house. Those darned couches!
But seriously, good progress since last checkup, and that body surely does look good all primed there, Joe.
And good work figuring out the interference(s).
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fit this, fit that. Would you get some paint on already! Sheesh!
By the way, it's looking very good so far Joe.
This is looking so cool.
