Thanks Joe! It's looking like I might be making it to the body fairly soon. I've got a lot of work to do when I get to it but it's coming.

As for what paint scheme I'll be going with? I'm sticking with the box top on that. I just recently got my reprint of the originals in the mail....and for a great deal. I'd probably do 'em myself but I don't want to experiment with this one.

Scheme:

Oh Yeah! That is looking fantastic Joe. I'm rather antsy for you to get the body on myself. I was meaning to ask you, are you displaying the back door open? If so, is the door already a seperate piece or will you have to cut that from the body? It is a pleasure to watch your builds Joe.

LOL! Thanks Crown! I didn't think of the clear body.....

I'll be finishing this up with the paint and decals exactly how it is on the box. I was able to fab out the original decals to get a new set printed up with a customized license plate based off of the most recent Texas plate design that reads RUQWKR. lol

Folks this gets more "do-able" by the day. I've got the bulk of it all test fitted here and so far everything is fitting and clearing where it's supposed to. A couple of shots:

This is where things had to be adjusted a bit. The firewall was sitting to low from the rear of the body line at the rear of the engine bay opening causing a gap between the firewall and the body. I shimmed it up a little to close the gap up. I've already test fitted the body and I'm in good shape so far.

Hope to get a little more done over the long weekend.

P.S. Just in case anybody spotted it....I am working on the front wheel center caps. There aint no way I'm going to leave those things as is! ;)

Thanks good buddy Lee!! I'm still in the process of painting the couch and figured as much with the clearance issue. It'll be moved to suit. Thanks for the input. Yes

Looking good, you might want to check clearance of the back of the couch against the inside of the body shell. Looks like it may be close.

LOL! Thanks for the kudos Steve! I've looked for the lava lamps and have found a source for lighting but no lava lamps.

Well as some of you might've figured from the get go......that big   couch aint going to work! It's too tall and takes up way too much room in the back. I even trimmed out the bottom of it so the wheel tub would fit up inside the bottom of the couch and it was still too tall. No worries though. I broke out the bench seat from the kit and filled in the area at the center of the couch where the transmission hump cut out was and have it primed so far. I also tossed the coffee table from the equation as the TV was sitting up too high and would've hit the roof. I replaced that with a section of clear plastic from Evergreen and painted it black on the back side to give it that "black glass" look. I'm currently working on the L angled two legs for the front of the table. I believe this....is more doable. I still have to carpet the side of the R/H wheel tub but I'm makin' some progress anyhow.

Very nice. Does the rear door open on this? Hate to see the detail not seen on the finished build.

Kidding aside, looking great, Joe.

Ok fellas. Finally some worthwhile benchtime this morning. I managed to modify the OOB rear flooring to fit around the wheel tubs in the back and mate up to the original front floor section almost perfectly. I shot primer, then the red coat and then flocked it after the red had dried. So far so good. The wheel tub coloring / flocking is up next.

Thanks Joe! I'm really stoked about using them alright.

Well guys I feared not being able to use the couch as it was just too bulky. I have another plan using the same layout though. Moving forward.......

That's slick that you were able to to get someone to create a set of decals for you. They're excellent. Love your plates. I've yet to see that new style Texas plate.

Thanks Lee , Joe and Steve!

Rather than risk either using the originals or bolotching the things up myself, I outsourced the decal restoration project. While he was doing that I had him add a personalized license plate with the newer style Texas plate format so that it could be read easier. I thought the RUQWKR was in order. lol
