Armornut, Mustang1989, JohnnyK, Greg, and Keavdog, thank you all for the positive comments! Building the Tyrrell was a most educational experience, proving once more that modeling can make you learn stuff. Personally I am most interested in the science of F1, and trying to figure out what does what and where all the piping goes went a long way in satisfying my F1 curiosity.
Armornut, the rain tires, in addition to looking cool, were also a solution for the poorly molded kit front tires. They had deep sink marks at the sprue gate, and were made from a different material than the rear tires.
Greg, the fuel lines are from Model Factory Hiro, I believe. I'll dig out the package and take a pic. I'll also do a how-to post on making the coil springs. To benefit all of mankind, and all that jazz.
Mustang1989, well it goes to show how competitive automotive modeling is. But it just makes me more determined to work on my A-game and return to the contest tables. They have not heard of the last of me! As comedian Stephen He said, I am A-sian, not B-sian! Such emotional da~mage!
Some friends are coming over today for our monthly meeting, and one guy who built the 1976 P34 and an earlier conventional 4-wheel Tyrrell car is bringing them over for a group photo. I'll post it as well as additional pics of my car before and after tweaking it and adding all the missing equipment.
Model on boys (and girls)!
