You done well on this car model doog. It has a nice balance of overall weathering and small details. I like the junk in the footwells and the use of birch seed pods to make scale leaves. Its going to look great sitting on a base. Make sure to check out Ken Hamilton's book on Auto Dioramas for some great pointers.

One thought for a sign on the base: For sale As is, No guarantees.

Fantastic work of art Doog.  Well done on the weathering.  I've not experimented with oil paint washes yet (still getting back to the hobby) but will have to try on a future rust project.  I really like the results you've gotten.

Your Welcome Doog, I almost picked up that kit last and I was going to build it like one you'd see on the beaches in Cali. I decided however to go with the Nissan 350z kit instead.

That is simply amazing! Is that the Revell kit? I almost bought a nomad model tonight is why I ask. When I first saw it I thought it was and actual junked out nomad until I made the picture larger. Awesome work Doog!
Thanks, Cubrooski! Yup---this is Revell's Nomad. Be aware that the doors DO NOT open on this kit--it's listed as the "2-n-1" kit. I opened the doors with a sawblade.

Thanks for the nice compliment! Smile [:)]

Thanks guys for the input--that's been pointed out by someone else here as well--I have to look for a new "older" one....I think I'll leave the taillights--I can't think of a way to damage them without having to add wiring, etc. Have to say though, that I've got about 400 pics of junkyard cars, and I'm AMAZED at the different levels of destruction/perservation in each car. There really is NO "standard"! Some have rust, some have chrome, some have windows and lights, some not--there's just an amazing amount of variety!

acmodeler--The idea of the stick in the hood is a good one--I'll probably get around to that when it come to the dio.

Thanks again guys! Big Smile [:D]

By the way I'm just about finished with my Marder dio that I'm building using you'r snow toot as a guide, there are some pic's of my progress over in the dio sec. Any of you'r comment's or suggestion would be appreciated.Thank's, Panz.

That is awesome! It puts many old cars to shame, this is by far the best beater I've seen in a long time.
The one thing I would add, though, would be a stick to hold the hood up. I would think after a while the hinges would wear out, causing the hood to close/not keep itself up. You know, that happens sometimes when things get old... Anyway, I love the open hood, and the fallen leaves on the front below the hood ornament are a nice touch--and with the engine detail-- it's got to stay open. I think a rounded, weathered toothpick would be easy enough, cut up to look like an old broomstick or something and squeezed in to make a hood prop.

Nice work, and I can't wait to see your idea for the base.

This came out simply great! All the subtleties (leaves, stripped engine, etc.) make it all the more convincing. Thumbs Up [tup]

Doog,

It turned out bloody marvalous! This has to be the best rusted out junker model I have ever seen, in fact, I bet you could fool alot of people with clever photos with it outside. Best work I have seen. Other than that, I am just speechless.  Bow [bow]

what a lousy piece of junk....I think I have seen that in the California hi desert near a certain ICE sign Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

the leaves are a nice touch, now throw in a polecat* in the back in a nice nest

*polecat, another name for a SKUNK. Also in all probility, what Dan'l Boone's coon skin hat was REALLY made of.

Why? because skunks would also get caught in traps, and he could SELL the coon skin, but there was not much of a market for skunk and he would not be giving off scent of man, so the anmials would not spook as easy. That's my story and Iam sticking to it!

This looks truly incredible...I can't wait to see what you're thinking of for a dio base, because knowing you, it isn't just going to be a plain old field.  The foil looks great, especially on the rear, and the detail in the interior is perfect.
