There's a guy in my club that usuallyhas a dog takin' a wiz in his dios.  Now you wanna put in cow flops.  What's with you guys anyway??????????

But a big steaming heap can only add to an already fantastic dio.  Great work there doog.

    Doog, Just perfect man.I think the buns are great.As a matter a fact I've been working on a winter dio that has one of the furry bugger's in it.

That seriously is the best car model/diorama I've ever seen. (and probably ever will)

A true work of art, If it doesn't bring home the best of show award at SYRCON then the judges would be truly out of their minds!

 I like the empty six pack holder too, it's a nice touch.

The scene is great love the grass, leaves...all of it. And the BUNNIES. Wabits ebvrywhere!!!

It will be interesting when you enter it, the auto guys usaully try for nice and shiny....you went for old and busted

Where'd you hide the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch?

Doog its great to see you stretch your limbs on a non military dio. Its really a nice piece of work. I like the ground cover and foliage a lot. Lots of very detailled plants and debris. Where did the six-pack holder come from?

Hopefully you've caught the 1/24th scale bug and will keep on making more auto dios.

Doog, I can't find any other words to say other than to what everyone has said. First place is yours as far as I'm concerned.

This is one of the most thought out, well designed dios I have had the priveledge of looking at!  Your attention to detail is truly amazing, like the empty jugs behind the seat, the old can on the intake, half-finished six pack, passenger side window off of the track, I could go on and on...

Your paint distress is spot-on!  It really captures that beater look.  I really, really wish I could see this one in person.  My hat's off to you, you really outdid yourself on this one Karl.  Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

WOW. guys--I have to be honest; I'm a bit humbled at both the volume of compliments and all of the overwhelmingly positive tone of your comments!

To be honest, I was originally a bit worried about what the consensus might be about the setting and the whimsical theme which I chose; I know that some might have preferred a more "traditional" setting, but again, I'm just very grateful for your flattering commentary!

Mike (redleg)--Absolutley! I will be writing this up for a hopeful Finescale submission--are you listening Aaron and Matt?! Hopefully, I'll continue to have the same luck with it, and see it in print? Thanks for your nice compliments!

Ian--Thanks! To do the groundwork, I put real dirt down over the dried Celluclay. Then, I cut up some swaths of typical railroad-style grass that I found in my LHS into 5-6 mm lengths, and then mixed those in a container with crushed-up real autumn leaves that I had collected last year. The sprinkled this mixture over white glue over the dirt. Some longer grass swaths went into holes drilled into the base, and spread with my tweezers to lay right. I ezpect now that you'll go on to present some masterpiece in the next few weeks using this technique? If I know you...? LOL!

MaxSheridan--LOL! EXACTLY what I was thinking!!! You know, I actually thought of maybe putting in a skeletal figure into the foreground of this dio, but then thought that that would be just a little morbid?.... But yeah--that scene DID cross my mind! LOL! 

vespa boy--what a nice thing, to get a compliment from one of the most uniquely talented miniature specialists around! Thank you! The six-pack holder is a Photoetch kit available from Detail Master--they have a set called "INterior Junk" that comes with clothes hangers, CD's, eye glasses, etc; the cans themselves are from Scale Equipment LTD. I'm not sure how many more auto dios I'll do, but I can tell you this won't be the last junker I do! Thanks for your comments! 

..and speaking of miniauture specialists--thanks daveinthehat!! I got the idea for the tree from your fine tutorial on your website there--thank YOU sir! You've got some MAD skills yourself!!!

SteveM--wow, a whole "Doog issue" LOL! Cool! YOu know, to be honest, I've actually been really rather busy getting ready for work over in Germany for a month or so between June 14 to July 14th; I'll be gone for that perioid. But I guess I just do a little here, a little there, and manage to get things done somehow...if I was racing more this summer, THEN I'd be REALLY busy maintaining the bike-- but I cant get hurt for this upcoming work period.... So I'm only riding for pleasure right now, but I'll be back in cmpetition by August! My output will suffer for the next few months however. SO I guess I'm glad to have finished this one, and gotten such a nice response from everyone until I get time to finish the next project--whatever that might be? Thanks for your compliments!

Outstanding work... many of us have learned from your posts and tutorials, but this is one build in which we put our tools down and just look and enjoy a master at work. Exquisite composition and details, not to mention master weathering techniques. Thanks again for sharing, I do hope to see tha piece of art in some show some day! Cheers..
