Nice! The lips just look a little red to me... Those expressions are a bit bizarre though. I really like how the hands are done.

Very nice detail work, Manny, top notch.  I have looked at those figures for my shermie, but they seem a bit...shell shocked? in demeanor.

Very nicely done, though.

Manny, NObody has to throw you a bone!-- your stuff, imho, speaks beautifully for itself. I drift towards the cleaner look on vehicles (as do you) and I have rarely attemted figures.--great stuff--the guy in pic #5 lower lip is a bit big, but looks ok in other pics (just the angle?)  the other dude looks like he has a beard and moustache like mine!----tread

I would throw you a bone but the dog ate my homework!!

Very nice.....only question, why the white or silve patch on the 45 ACP handgrip????

I know it is not your call but the expressions are strange!!

Otherwise.....another Manny Museum Job!!

Once again, you captured the "look", Pard...

Just FYI, Manny.. "Dogface" was strictly an Infantry thing in WW2 and in Korea... They were kinda possesive of it as well... Marines later took to calling all Army troops "Doggies" (still do)...

The term Grunt came later. Initially it was believed to be an acronymn for "GRound troops-UNTrained" and applied only to replacements.  Another version is that it stood fror "GRound Unit-Needs Training".

How did Patton respond to that? LOL

I like the German shepard too. Thumbs Up [tup]

Terrific stuff as we have come to expect.  And no doubt they are really dog faces.  Put a drop of black paint on their noses...

Man, that's a face only a mother could love! lol! (Not your fault, Manny! That's some bad sculpting!)

Nice work making this guy look like somethin'--I agree that hands are really well done; I would try to de-emphasize the blackness of the eye slits a bit--they're a bit harsh--and tone down the lip color. Might help this boy look into a mirror..?

Following up on Karl's lip comment...I've been using Citadel Tanned Flesh for lips. It's not as brash, unless, of course, you like your tankers "just a little on the trashy side." Kisses [:X]

You calling Patton a pimp?  LOL...and since these tankers are pimps, they do like a little rouge now and again...

I'll look into your Citadel Tanned Flesh color, unless that's just more lip service from you...

Love the German Shepherd.  I have three and that would look great with the model of Kidd Hofer's P-51B I'm going to do.  I've seen many pictures of him and his German Shepherd Duke, he even took him up flying with him.

You calling Patton a pimp?  LOL...

Yeah, and I'd do it to his face if he was standing here in front of me...of course, he be 124 years old!

That quote WAS Patton, in response to a reporter asking about his revolver, assuming they were mother of pearl grips.  Patton carried Ivory handled pistols, and corrected the reporter.  I think the color is still right, though.Wink [;)]

To avoid further confusion, let's all watch Patton and reconvene.  I need to grab it on Blueray anyway.

Except Patton's were revolvers and this one is clearly a .45...

Great figs, Manny.  You're an 'arteest'...

Patton had a lot of sidearms, including the venerable .45 auto:

"On the cover of Life Magazine's "Defense Issue" dated July 7, 1941, Patton is seen in the turret of his command tank. He is wearing the M1911 Colt .45 automatic in a government issue shoulder holster. The tank is adorned with red, white, blue, and yellow stripes along with two flags attached to the front sides; one flag with the two stars of a Major-General; the other is a flag of the Second Armored Division."

From an online source that I couldn't exactly tell what it's called other than "Chapter 5--Patton's Sidearms" because I Googled it and it wasn't aparent from the link.

I have no doubt he had many different sidearms.  I just thought the really 'fancy schmancy' ones were his revolvers.  But, hey, I could be wrong.  I think it has happened before..... maybe.... once.... Whistling [:-^]

'Course, this is all irrelevant to discussing how good Manny's figs look.

Agreed, they are nice figures, none is supposed to be Patton, and you are probably right about the grips on the .45.

How's THAT for neighborly?

This kid was Patton's driver during the great armored manuevers in Louisiania prior to the war and Patton gave him that ivory-handled 45 as a token of his appreciation...that's my story and I'm sticking to it...Wink [;)]

~ Manny, very nice. they are dog-faces. They really have a look to them.& Nice to know someones been doing something besides cursing Greatmodels.  The pooch is cool. the Wife's been naggin me to get my dog OOTB and put him in a Dio already. Aren't those Alpine figures among the best? I just couldn't dig that leaning tankers shruggy lean, but I bought & painted the other one though :

Thats 1 of the stock heads from the kit, looks like a totally different dude than yours huh?    Very cool you're on a Kassarine Pass Dio(what happened to DITCYII?..still comin right?) I gotta a Dio in the works around those parts comin up too*(great minds think alike) it'll be Brits though-attacking--called  "Clash in Tunisia". In the meantime I've got a thread going in Autos(of all places) for a  build for a different Dio so(throw ME a bone and go take a look)

This scene will be May, 1940 France, either a French Businessman is stepping from his Citroen(Tamiya's new 1/35 kit) and watching as German armor rolls in....OR a Gestapho Agent, posing as a French businessman, watches as his brethren roll in .....either way(imput at the MM Forum included an observation that the'driver' resembled 'Herr Flick' (from some BBC show I've never seen)--anybody seen it?

Anyway, the MM thread on this build is along with a build on the same new kit by Mark Bannerman. It's an honor and alot of fun to share the build/blog w/ him--gettin alot of great feedback it's darn interesting.

Spot on as always. Does the tanker remind anybody besides me of Lee Marvin?

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Thanks, Indy--Alpine figs are my favorite brand...I chose this set because the Americans got their collective arses stuck in a vise at Kasserine and these two guys seem to reflect that in their postures and faces---and they look very early-war...I thought the ivory-handle on the 45 would give the fig a splash of color on an otherwise drab piece.

That dog (both are from the Dragon German Police fig set) will probably go in my WIP, "Counterattack!". I put the other one in "Backhand Blow" and got more compliments and comments abnout the dog than anything else---even got several offers to buy the dog (mostly from guys who had their girlfriends w/ them at the AMPS and IPMS Shows)...

That's cool that you are also doing a Kasserine dio--mine is more of a vignette...DITCY II is still #1 on my priority list and is really begining to gel now...all major elements have been completed...should be posting a mock-up by this weekend.

I like your 1940 scene, but since it is a spy scene you gotta have a chick fig in it!!! I'll check it out...
