1/350 Mini Hobby Models WIP

Along with my 1/700 Hobby Boss Arizona and the around 8 group builds I'm involved in, I plan on completing, eventually, the 1/350 Mini Hobby Models (Trumpeter?) Arizona my wife and daughters bought me for my birthday, circa 2002. I also received Toms Model Works extensive detail set along with the kit.
I don't pretend to know anything about the Arizona's details, except the 4 or 5 times I've visited her at the memorial (I was stationed in Oahu many years ago), however the kit looks good to my untutored eye. I may be scolded about this later.
First off the kit seems to be designed like the 1/700 Hobby Boss and old classic Revell kit, with the seam along the casement wall. For some aggravating reason, the deck has 2 seams, one just aft of turret 2 and one in front of turret 1. It's beyond me to understand why manufactures do this. The deck planking also has raised detail which I don't care for, and can't find any after market wood deck for this particular manufacturer. That's ok though, I don't want to go that far with it. I probably would go all out for the Trumpeter 1/200 kit, but not now.
I still haven't decided to display it on the stand or in a water scene. Possibly calm harbor water as she's returning from maneuvers at slow ahead sometime late 1941
