Yep, in that vein. Up to you and see what others might come up with for ideas. Plenty of time.
Wait till you see a blue whale of humpback pull that trick.
Man that has to be a rough landing for the guys in the boat.......Rattle teeth and hocks, along with everything in between.
Looks like their may be more than a couple of 1/144 Gatos in the build, tough competition all around, gonna be fun trying to stay with the rest doing one.
***EDIT**** Sat., 19th.....Got a call yesterday that the1/350 '43 Gato is in, and in the mailbox last night was theW/E PE set for the 1/144 version. On my way to Salem this morning to pick her up and get the paint for all three. 90 mile round trip. Glued up the hull of the 1/350 '42 as a practice build for the '43. Also notified the gun set from Nautalis has shipped and ordered the Squadron book on Gato's, and found Ospry has a book on our subs during the war.
Looked at the 1/72 Revell version on Ebay....price not to bad IMO for a 4 1/2 footer, and some PE for her as well.Something to think about for future, but no idea of where she would go....Saw her today in the LHS in Corvallis and she is a monster, even in the box.
Opened up the '43 and about 2/3 of the freeing ports are gone from the upper hull (about the main gun mount on the forward deck on back) on this version over the '42. Looks like I'll have to put the '43 conning tower on the '42 hull to get a more accurate rendering of my girl in her final trim.
Gun set came in on the 22nd. Got a little flash to clean up, but they are nice.
