Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Oh, the GB Gato will be the 1/144 like yours, with the White Ensign PE and Nautilus guns (he sold me another 20mm) to be done as SS238 on her 3rd patrol.

The big one will also be SS238, but as she appeared on leaving Midway on her last patrol.  Will have an identifier plague with name, hull # and "on eternal patrol".  Might add her into the GB, depending on when the first one is done and how long it runs.

The Big ED kit just came for the 1/72 Gato I got from Straycat.  The deck plates part call for doing what MC had to do on his Puffer build......take out most of the deck and put in crossmembers to support the PE.  Also came with hinge plates for all along both sides and a tower kit.  With the antenna and scope shears kits I had already about the only thing kit about the tower will be the sides and main floor piece.  I was looking at Nautilus and he doesn't have a resin 4" for though.......  Tempted to change the entry in the build, but not going to.  This one will be a long term one I think over the winter and a dry mount in a case.

Nice link PJ!

I agree, Steve. That takes a lot of work and planning.

I happen to notice another video of the Lego USS Missouri, it's spectacular!

No sweat Bish. That site was a bit easier to navigate before. I had it in my favorites but forgot about it till Steve sent me the article.

Very little on the type lX. Wiki has a list of all the IXCs that were made.

Thanks PJ. Theres a couple of new ones there i have not seen before, will have to downlaod the S-boat one. It can be a bit confuseing as there was one called U-Boat colours and markings. But that seems to have been superseded by the Wolf pack one which has a lot of the other one in it. Going to have to  sort through those i think.

Hokey
how about just posting the weathering link?

PJ did.

I didn't have the link, all I had was a PDF file and I couldn't attach it.

The link PJ provided has that PDF as well as a wealth of other info. Great site!

MC-  If you get a chance can you PM me a link to the weathering part (or the whole article with it).  Would be interested in it for both of the ones I'll be working on.  No big hurry.

Thanks,

Art

I really do need to sit and read through them properly. But i have already got the paints i need based on them and there is some great stuff on weathering which is handy for any ship model. Really useful stuff.

Is that the Dougie Martindale article. I have not read through the Type IX one yet, but he has two others and they lok really useful.

The same. I don't have the type IX one, but the weathering info is invaluable.

PJ,

I did rin across a PDF of u-boat colors. I can't log on with my laptop but I can send it to you tomorrow. It may be of some use.

PJ, i know what you mean with the Type IX's. I would like to backdate mine to the U-156 at the time of the laconia incident. I am no expert on U-Boats, but i believe the deck gun was removed when the larger conning towers were fitted. I had hoped someone would release differant towers as happened with the Type VII, but for some reason, as you say, there has been very little released.
