Hey Steve, just found your new project. Looks like nice work going on here, as usual. Wish the subscribe feature worked. I will follow along when I remember to check. 

I modified one of the planes , to make it look like it's coming out of the hanger . I just have to try and unglue one of the hanger door's now 

I forgot to add ,that I put a layer of something like future between each coat mongoose .

we can't get future in aust , so I use LONGLIFE FLOOR POLISH , you don't get a real good shine , but as a cover coat it's really good .

Oh i can definitely see the color variations. Thanks for sharing your technique. I'm going to try that out. 

hear you go mongoose , I use MM wood , with a burnt amber oil wash , and a dot filter using yellow , blue , grey , dk brown . I have only just tried the dot filter technique , still learning. the super structure hasn't been dot filtered yet .

epoxied the bolts for the pedestals

some vents and capstans ready for paint . also gor the depth charger racks made  , can anyone please tell me what colour the drums were .

Soldering is hard. That's a good looking seam there for sure. Much sturdier part that way as well. May try that cigar lighter idea as the little torch i bought tends to blow the solder away lol

Looking great. I hope my 1/350 turns out this good! 

been trying to learn how to solder , was absolutely hopeless . saw a thing about solder paste , what a difference . so easy , will pattersen , also suggested a little cigar lighter to heat up even better he suggest's . 

wasn't sure what these were , and a bloke on another forum informed me they the plane hangers .

ready for paint , a small railing is missing from one , it was just too fragile , might have a myself .

thanks mongoose , very true . thats the approach I have been taking , each little bit to make up a whole .

Nice pe work on the funnel. Everything must feel like a kit on it's own in this scale? 

started the funnel , still a lot to do , trying to work out how to paint .

re- my last post, do not use double sided tape and PE together , I am very lucky as I had 2 sets , the kit one's were better as they allowed you to see through them a bit oh well ,

The cats and cranes are way better than my fumble fingers could turn out.

It sometimes takes the patience (endurance - persistence) of Job to put together complex PE ... you're doing a fine job!

Where will you display the finished model?

still on the PE kick , the cranes are done , looking at the photos , they could be better , but at the moment it's the best I can do .

started work on some of the PE , this is one of the catapults . needed a good lie down after this , didn't realise their was two of them . 

looked up dot filters on utube , had a go , this is the result , not as plain .

TB , I have never used a dot filter , can you do it with acrylic paint ?

also the general way to do it , do you thin the paint first ?

do you put a gloss coat on first ?

       Now that's the kind of stuff I glom onto ,Turret and Magazine, awesome!. I would like to see an engine room like that ! Oh, on the deck. I am doing the 1/200 Arizona and I had the same problem. What I did, was use the base color and then did dot filters going from the Bow to the Stern. Not " Planky" looking, But less boring!

       I used the Last four canisters of my dwindling stock of Humbrol original "Deck Bleached Teak" as my base T.B.

I need some help , the wood deck is too one colour , it is also darker in real life , has anyone got any suggestions how too weather it please , what colours would you use ? , I want to retain the wood look but not as stark , thank's in advance guy's .
