AB pressure setting for Future top coat
Posted by jburns on Saturday, November 29, 2008 11:02 PM

I am airbrushing my first aircraft model. I've used Tamiya flat acrylic paint and am wondering what the AB pressure should be set on to spray the Future top coat.

 Thanks! Smile [:)]

Have you considered using a paintbrush? I find it quicker and easier.

Do you spray the Future straight, or do you thin it with something?  I haven't used my AB for future, as I've only "painted" it on with brushes.

25% Alcohol and 75% Future works for me. I used to paint mine on like you do. The airbrush is faster, but it is easy to get runs.

It depends on the AB. General rule of thumb:

15-20 psi for gravity feed AB.

25-30 psi for siphon feed AB.

Try it on a piece of paper with various pressure until you get a fine even misty coat. Don't use heavy coat, it runs.

For smaller parts such as canopy, dipping is perferred.
