Andy all you needs is one of those green circle templates from Staples or Office Depot.

Cut 2 at once crossing the tape for easy seperation. Cut on glass with a new #11 blade from nice sharp edges.  Draw the reference lines on both to help with alignment on the wing/fuselage.  Cover the hole with a piece of tape before you peel it up and it will stay nice and round while you position it.

The template is good to have around for rescribing too.

I've made round masks quite using an Olfa circle cutter and Tamiya tape.  Essentially, it is a beam compass with a blade in place of pencil lead.  I think I picked it up at Michaels.  I found it pretty easy to use, cutting the tape on a self-healing mat.  Its main limitation would be the minimum diameter which would be around 1/4" or 3/8".  I have a 1/48 Zero-sen, and I plan on using it for the insignia.

Looking for a method to create a perfectly round circle mask for painting Japanese insignia. I've tried the trace and xacto route with little success.
