In regards of the pink airplane, have you ever seen the "British Sand" painted P-40 at an airshow.  The plane is shockingly pink, and has a female pilot last I saw it.  I understand that the paint would actually fade to a pinkish shade after being exposed for a while.  The pilot just chose to take it to an extreme.  Hope that helps.

My wife is only partially supportive of my hobby, so long as I get all of the stuff she wants done first.  Given the length of the "honey do" list, if i did not take time once in a while, I would never get anything done.  That's a big part of why I am only getting back to the hobby after about 15 years.  I do hope to post some pictures of a A-36 WIP soon, working on the cockpit and getting close to a point where i would share.

Not only is my wife supportive, she is actually going to be starting on her first one and coming with me to Jaxcon!

Try doing that with a tank and see the funny looks you get.

My wife,  supports my modeling, by encourageing me to have fun and will only occasionly ask about the number of boxs in the stash, as I bring another little gem home.

Truthfully she does encourage me to enjoy my hobby and will patiently listen as I explan the details of what this is and how that works on the real plane and has learned to hardly crack a smile as I, with partly built plane in hand, make motor noises and sweep my hand around showing how well the thing flys  Gulp

Well youve got you dog. Cant always trust a dog though, they'll chase whatever tail (or leg) they can.

I haven't been on the site in awhile but... my wife has absolutely no interest in my hobby. She doesn't have a problem with it as long as she can't see it. I am tucked in a corner of the basement sharing with the water heater and boiler.  We recently switched to natural gas so I picked up a bunch more space when I got rid of the oil tank. That is now where the display shelves are.  John

My wife supports me, although she doesn't take a strong interest in my models. I have a good basement workshop and the basement family room, as well, for all my stuff. Like others the Living room is off limits to models,( as well as the rest of the upstairs rooms). There will be one exception. My wife is into genealogy and asked me if I could build a model of the immigrant ship one of her ancestors came to America in. I'm still trying to get enough information to draw up the plans.

I think marrying a a modeller and exchanging stashes sounds like a dreadful idea. I can't imagine how long I would have to spend in the doghouse if I didn't want to trade one of my beautiful armour kits for one of her planes.

pfft, just marry a modeler. That way, if you split, you exchange stashes lol.

Can you imagine a breakup like that though... "custody of the stash", visiting rights, support payments for future AM purchases. Messy messy stuff!

Owl makes a good point above: What about those of us who don't have spouses? Are there others in your lives who are particularly supportive of your hobby? Are you supportive of theirs?

Tim

Like I posted before, my family (parents and siblings) like my hobby because it make Xmas shopping easy...anything scale model and Im happy! My mother and I are both artistic, so she comes to me for ideas and critique of her work. I routinely get my brother guitar stuff, and buy my little sis her playing cards.

But the reason I dont want a wife is that im more interested in getting a husband. Cowboy

I find it's sort of a mutual thing. My wife is supportive of what I do in my off hours, be it building models, gaming, driving R/C cars, swinging in the hammock, smacking my thumb with a hammer, or digging holes in the backyard because my son is sure there's treasure back there (We'll find it yet, I tell ya!). But I'm supportive of hers too, mainly stained glass windows and ornaments. She also plays games, which is cool, because that means we have something that we can do together, and plenty of hobby options to pass along to the lad. Also, our workbenches are in the same area, though her one is WAY BIGGER than my two (workbench envy).

Owl makes a good point above: What about those of us who don't have spouses? Are there others in your lives who are particularly supportive of your hobby? Are you supportive of theirs?

well, I dont have a wife and doubt I will ever get one! LOL    Wink

My family is supportive. My siblings love getting me kits because it means they dont have to wonder what I want, same with my mother. But my 'tiel Donny, probably doesnt like it. I keep him in a different room while Im modeling so he doesnt get sick on the fumes but he hates being separated form people .
