Thanks, Gary!  You probably wouldn't be surprised when I tell you that I salvaged that easel from some family's garbage.  I was driving down the road one day and spotted it.  I stopped and asked if they were throwing it out (obviously, but I respect that it's their property) and if I could take it.  I drive a pickup, so it was no problem to get it home.  I've been meaning to rout out a rabbet below the top and insert a cork strip, but office clamps work pretty well, too.

not at all....glad you like it. ..one thing ,i have it slightly tilted out at the bottom...maybe an inch to tilt the bottles back .keeps them on the shelf better.i bolted the angle iron together and have plenty of room to expand it as needed

Just bought a new house with my wife and it will be the first time I will have a room dedicated to my hobbies - modeling and computer gaming. I will be setting up an older ikea steel beam and wood desk as my modeling workstation with pegboard attached. It will be the first time I can have everything set up and I won't have to work out of a tackle box. I can't wait for that. Plenty of desk space/shelves on the desk and an actual closet to hide - I man store my purchased models. Can't wait!

Sean, you'll be in hog heaven once you get that room set up the way that you want it! Nothing like having a place to model that you don't have to clean up & put away everything every time you're done with your modeling session. And you'll get some great tips, pointers, and ideas on setting up your room just by perusing these forums. Good Luck!!

Hi, Simon. Yep, it's definitely nice to know that are other musicians on the forums. Never heard the term "muso", though. And I definitely think that a drummer is a musician. How many bands don't have a drummer, except for bluegrass bands? 

What kind of modeling do you do?

I've shown this before here in FSM, but since it's a new thread on the subject, here are some shots of my bench:

These were taken back in 2010, I think, but it still looks pretty much the same today.  My brother nicknamed it "the Forge", because I used to do my white metal casting here, too.  That operation is now out in my garage.

Devil Dawg....very nice setup. Where did you get the desk lamp?

You know, I have no idea. My wife bought it for me a few years ago. I have just recently added an OttLite (I hope I spelled that correctly) desk lamp to the set-up, and those can be had at Hobby Lobby, and JoAnn's. With my eyes getting older, I can never have enough light. The brighter, the better for me!

One view of the modeling desk, which is a computer desk that I bought at IKEA back in 2012. Works very well for this purpose, too.......

Another view. It's relatively clean for some reason. It's usually got more crap on it than this, especially when I have multiple projects going at one time. This is on the second floor of our house in Indian Trail, NC (just a little south-east of Charlotte). 

This music section of the room, which takes up a very small area. You can see the guard mutt in the lower left. He has excellent night camouflage! In the upper left is my Martin DR; upper right is my Seagull Coastline Cedar 12-string; lower center is my Fender Stratocaster (Mexican); and in the lower left is my Rogue mandolin. Bluegrass all the way, baby!!

A partial view of my stash. It's in the top of my closet. I've got 104 kits total, with some still under construction. Got mostly aircraft, with a few tanks, cars, a Dragon Wagon, a 747-400, a ship, and even the Memphis Belle figure (Legend Productions). No sci-fi or fantasy stuff, though.

Love seeing everyone's work/play space! Cool stuff!

Here's my bench back in the corner of my garage.  Obviously several projects in the works; need to get some finished up!

I also have a larger workbench along the side of the garage for home and car projects, but it also serves as an overflow area for modeling, particularly when staging stuff for airbrushing.

I'm very envious of my American cousins! I am currently rebuilding my man cave at the moment, it's a 12"x8" shed in my yard which has 'developed' a leak or two due us having the wetest summer/fall/winter since records began. Hopefully, with the add ofr a friend of mine, who is also a very good modeler, I will be able to stat using it again soon, allthough with the weathe we are getting at the moment - heavy ain and winds of 60mph plus the idea of climbing up on the roof to reseal it (or even shingle it) has lost it's apeal for some reason.

Thanks, BS214 - Now, if only I could build something. Having a tough time getting motivated right now, but like last night's supper, it will pass.

When I put the room together, I had settled on a bench from Harbor Freight. Nice,  all wood, sturdy. I really wanted a "workstation" like you see in some offices or cubicles. Since I spend 8-10 hours a day in one, they are comfortable. Over last weekend, found one at Peddlers Mall - a self-service flea market. The Louisville boys will know about it. When I found it was a $100, I bought it.

Got it home and on Monday, my son came out and helped put it back together.

LIke it much better than the bench.

By the way, like much of the midwest....that afternoon, it was 53-55 degrees and sunny. By morning - 0

Nothing much but it works very well for me! I work down in the basement of our townhome - unfinished but A/C'd and heated and very clean so it is actually quite comfy down here. Just still working on organizing everything and always making trips to goodwill and whatnot to get rid of stuff before our next move. However, my workbench/office, as you can see below, is set up just fine. I actually like the place being unfinished - before I even had this stuff set up, while I was unpacking, I dropped and broke the top off one of my Alclad bottles - spilled about half a bottle of Chrome on the floor. Easy peasy - just wipe up and move on! Now if it was carpet.... not so sure I'd still be married today...

Got the computer hooked up to the TV so I can watch Netflix on that while working on my kits. Thinking about buying a couple of cheap plastic drawers to organize the bookshelf on the table a bit more. Extended the table over to the window for extra real estate, using a spare plywood shelf.

I also have a display case that I picked up for free from a coworker - not ideal for displaying models with it being so dark and unlit (I added "tap" lights to the top section - planning on adding more as I add models to it) but it was a really nice unit and I couldn't beat free, on top of the fact that I didn't have any other option for displaying my models or even storing them, so I went ahead and took it so I had a place to put my finished projects. Not only that but I use the bottom drawer for all my spare parts bins as well as my rags.

All in all I am pretty content with it - like I said I just need a couple of small drawers to organize things a little bit more but that's it. Nice to have a window for fumes ventilation - I may add an exhaust fan to help with that.

Thanks. I'd like to say it was a labor of love, but it was mostly just labor! Now if I can just get the regulator/moisture trap to seat properly on the compressor! always something.

I've always liked those shelving units (the one your stash is on/in). Where did you get it?

Thanks. Already there are things I wish I had done a bit differently. I guess there is no surprise there. The shelf unit came from Lowe's about 75 I think. they are 18 inches deep, which is nice.
