My images are still linked so I guess I haven't hit that critical threshold. However, I will start researching other hosting sites.

Have you seen your signature yet? There is no threshold. They're just going to get us all one by one.

I just switched to Flickr.  I have to leave myself signed in since it won't recognize that I changed my password from a Tumblr account I haven't used in years.  Maybe I'll sign up for a new Yahoo account just for Flickr.  It's not too difficult posting pics from it, but I hate that I need to check my email everytime I want to log in...

What is bad is the loss of milions of historical photos and research that was available on a lot of forums.  Now it is gone forever.

I have over 3,000 images and 21 videos, and 51% storage left in my account. It still glitches when I try to upload, so yeah. I should probably start saving the images I want to keep before I shut my account down. (Sigh) that's going to take a while.

Not even an ounce of loyalty to us peeps who had been long time users. They've been doubling my user space for years. Just when I thought I was about to run out of room, they would double it again. Now, whammo! Ransom time.

Don Stauffer

Okay, I have started an album on Google Photo.  Good user interface- no need to sign in or anything- it recognizes your computer and you go right to album.  Had trouble at first, went to a selected photo, and copied the URL from address window in my browser.  That did not work!

I then went back to image, and right clicked on image. One option was copy image location.  I selected that, went back to forum, selected the picture icon, and did a control-v in address window of the pop-up screen.  That worked fine.  I am now going to switch to Google Photo.

Well done Don!

I prefer to use a reliable free service than paid one if I can avoid it and Mr Google has that job.

I spent several hours last night trying to get what you did to work. Admittedly I spent most of the day driving, irespective of that well done. I'm about to recreate my albums then till PB in no certain terms what they done do with their pi$s ant service.

I've tried flickr,  Google, and dropbox, but I can't get any of it to post up from my phone, which is the only way to access this site. I can only get links or the image icon to show. Any ideas, y'all?

Do you have a computer? If so it can be easily done (After Don explained how) with Google Photos and a PC.

I couldn't get Flickr to work either, nor Google Photos orginally. To use Google you need a PC, as I am unable to load images from my Galaxy Tab that I use all the time.

If you only have your phone, you may need to use a paid service that has an app to assist with posting, which service that offer this I havent a clue.

Been looking for the stock market listings of Photobucket........

                                        http://images.clipartpanda.com/decline-clipart-decline-clipart-1.jpg

Hmmmm... apparently the widely reported passing of Photobucket has NOT been greatly exaggerated.

I see it as malicious that they wouldn't give any notice as to their intention to drop this on us.

Actually, I'm relieved that they did this. Because I'm tired of messing with them. I will never post anything there again no matter what kind of a fix or retraction they might promise.

There are many many more imaging sites...... just a matter of getting used to their protocols.

It's a good thing they went ahead and ended the slow death with a cheap shot to the head.

Ouch. That is going to sting. lol serves them right.

A warning, a price plan that didn't hurt, and maybe some concern for their users may have gone a long way to preventing this mass exodus from their website.

Seriously. $10 a year for 10 gigs, $40 a year for 40 gigs, and so on. They didn't have to go the "All or Nothing" approach. No one I know of needs web hosting of their images just to collect them. 3rd party hosting is the ONLY reason anyone uses image hosting.

But then, I'm not entirely shocked either. Photobucket has been slowly, but surely dying from within for some time now. When I couldn't sign in for three months I e-mailed them with no response. I found a round-about way to get in and I couldn't upload any images. Another e-mail and still no response.

I can understand adding the adverts to make up some revenue to keep the site going and I have no idea who's in charge of maintenence, but they suck at their jobs pretty badly. Actually, there was probably nothing they could do once the advert software started clogging up the works. But hey, whatever. What's done is done. Execs always make the choice of profit over sustainability, because, as you all know, millions of dollars is just never enough. Something we all can relate to ;)

The only smart move now, is for them to give everyone a head's up as they dump the servers and start over with a reasonable pricing plan. Yes, I think they should just nuke the site from orbit and rebuild. lol

Sorry to hear all the trouble you guys are having with "PB". I started to have problems with them years ago. About 3 years ago I couldn't get it to work at all. I opened up a second account thinking I did something wrong with the first. Never worked. Really ticked me off as I loved showing pics of my work here. I think the last time I posted pics was when I did a WIP of the '53 Chevy Street Rod I built for a Group Build.

I am very computer illiterate and not ashamed to say it. My wife is the go to person in this house for computer problems and she couldn't get PB to work either. I've tried some of the other sites but can't get them to work either. I send pics of my WIPs to club members  and friends by e-mail all the time. Take loads of pics at every show I attend and e-mail them to club members who couldn't make it to the show.  Have them all stored on my computer and use them for reference all the time. If I ever get one of the sites to work for me, I'll start posting pics again.

The DOGS! So, every WIP I have done is pretty much worthless without the pictures. I guess I'll be trying out other services as well. Hopefully I'll be able to save the pictures on PB to my computer and go from there but again, any picture I have posted here over the last number of years are kaput. argh......

I did a Google search for my posts and found the pictures came up; however, they are now a bit out of focus. Has anyone else experienced this?

I got tired of PB a few years ago. I have been using Flickr for the last few years. I have had no problems using PC or my phone. I believe for the phone log-in, you need to have a yahoo email account set up on the phone. I use yahoo as my email so I have the phone set up for it and it keeps me logged in all the time.

It does take a little time to get use to Flickr's sharing and linking but I have been doing it for so long now it is very easy to me.

I recently have been linking Facebook pictures for my aircraft carrier build. It has its quirks but seems to be working fine.

We are not a "take a picture" family, so the only photos I would be storing would be model related.  I dont mind paying a reasonable fee, and was leaning toward photobucket (seemed the easiest to learn).  No more!  I will look elsewhere.  Thank you for the info.                                                                                                                         knox

I've had a Flickr account for a very long time. I think the first photo I posted to Flickr was a photo I took at the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends back in 2007. To have a Flickr account you need to have a Yahoo account. If you don't maintain your Yahoo account properly, your Flickr account is doomed. Everything about Flickr is easy and intuitive unless you need to reset your password. Then life gets pretty awful. It can take days to reset a password if you haven't maintained your Yahoo account. Your Yahoo account can't just lay dormant while you use Flickr. You will eventually be logged out and most likely have to reset your apssword. This can take days! I was recently logged out of my Flickr account because of computer issues that have since been rectified. Repeated emails and messages to Flickr customer service have gone unanswered. I eventually requested that Flickr/Yahoo close the account and delete all of my images, close to 500 images from airshows and car shows. Well the page is still up. I'm not wasting my time with Flickr anymore. I'm looking for another free image hosting site similar to Flickr but will settle for a hosting site that even has a modest fee.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

It's available in the Apple App store. It's free so that isn't a problem, but I couldn't find any mention of it on the web though. I did make sure it works if you open a browser page and it's good to go there.

So I don't know if it's available for Android, but it is available for iPhone.

Thanks, Stik!  I'll check that one out.  I've had a Flickr account for a while, but posting photos from it is leaping from one ice floe to another.

On the other hand, I deleted all of my photos on my Photobucket account and put a password on the account.  I alread have all those photos on a backup, so its pretty useless without being able to link them.  I thought about leaving one photo on the account of a hand with its middle finger in an upright position, but figured why bother.

PS>  Amusingly, even after I had deleted every photo in the account, it still registered that I was using 5% of my storage.

Hasta la vista, Photobucket!

Thats a good question... my laptop on PB is slow as molasses in January. Downloading by that route should only take me a few years with all the photos I have on PB...

I am not sure what type of system you have GM but I was able to pull a couple photos off last night on my iPad. I choose the picture and then magnified it and pressed my finger on the picture until I got the Save Picture/Copy prompt. I just tried it again and it is slower than molasses in January right now. Probably due to everyone trying to retrieve their photos. I have about 1700 photos on the site so at is rate, I'll probably die before I can get all my photos off. I have not tried it on my iMac yet.
