This is the best time of the year for sailing, kyaking, fishing, swimming, bbq and anything outdoors.

O, it just occured to me the different hemisphere weather pattern thing... It has been almost 30 years since I have actual sighted snow, it would be a novilty to spend 1 season in a very cold climate.

Greg - I think, too, that shifting the clock now and in the spring really isn't worth it anymore. The people really suffer, and the economical savings aren't there any more. The Polish government is thinking about abolishing daylight saving time - I think that could be good. Have a nice day!

Just wondering if anyone else besides me gets depressed this time of year with the cold weather here snow possible .Also the holiday approaching .I get this way every year have yet to figure out why.

Plenty of people deal with the same issues, and as previously stated Seasonal Affective Disorder is often the culprit. You might check with your doctor about your vitamin D levels, and look into what other suggestions her or she may have. As for the influence of the holidays, sure, plenty of people also find them depressing as well. Sadly, many suicides take place during the Christmas-New Year time frame.

As for me, I try to enjoy the seasons as they come. I will admit that I was not mentally prepared for the snow I saw outside when I woke up yesterday morning, but it was gone in a couple of hours. I will try to get outside and enjoy the autumn weather, and see the beauty of the changed leaves before they are gone, then batten down for winter. Hopefully, that means building models.

Around here they didnt change the clock in the fall one year,I don't remember the reasons,but the result was that kids were going to school in the dark in the morning,safety issues with kids getting hit by traffic in the darker AM hours,and possible predators.

 

Apparently they tried that here many years ago but it meant the folks up in Scotland going to work/school in the dark and coming home in the dark as well.

Same here Keyda... our summer was crappy too with so much rain then getting few warm sunny days that is until September rolled around we get hit with 80 - 90 degree weather. Of course this past March we got slammed with a snowstorm dumping 3 feet of snow and being snowed in for 2 or 3 days.

The bright side, we’re suppose to have a mild winter this year thanks to La Niña. 

The change of season doesn’t bother me too much but at least it gives me more opportunities to work on my models instead of mowing the lawn & other outdoor chores and the humidity. LOL! Heck, I was lucky to be able to go fishing once this year.

I do miss my warm t-shirt and shorts summer days...

While every year I feel the cold more- they say that is a sign of aging, I may have cut the grass for the last time this year.  Now, mowing the lawn takes about an hour and a half, while blowing snow from the driveway takes only about ten minutes.  Thus I end up with a lot more modeling time in the winter :-)

Feel the cold more now, along with the heat.  Being alone now, get a little depressed with the holidays coming, was the wifemates favorite time of year. As far as they go now, I'm with Bish, seems like just another day for me.  Used to be the Christmas stuff didn't show up til after Thanksgiving, now it's out before Halloween.  Too commercialized for my tastes.

No,I really enjoy the change of seasons.At this time I really enjoy the onset of cooler fall weather.I really enjoy the snow and cold in the winter,and the heat in the summer.There's even something to be said for a cold rainy day,enjoying a cozy day on the couch watching football.What I don't like is unseasonable weather,let it be what it supposed to be when it supposed to be.

i'm with goldhammer, sort of. going to the days when it was fun, today is the day, i really enjoy halloween!  after that, blah... we all pull out of it though. just for snots and laughs, it's beutifullllll 34 degrees with freezing rain here in the detroit area this morning....

Do you still get a lot of snow. The last time we had heavy snow fall was April 2013. Only had light snow since then. Buti do think we will have a cold one this year.

First frost of the year this morning, light and the windshield washers took care of it, but still frost.  Will have to trim back the plants for winter soon.

Phone weather says 4-8 inches in Deer Park by Sunday, could happen but I will believe it when I see it. Oh yea that's snow.

....34 degrees with freezing rain here in the detroit area this morning....

 

We had snow in the "just north of Ann Arbor" area this a.m. Nothing stuck, as the ground is still to warm, but it was snow none the less!!! Had 1/4" hail yesterday, off and on...seemed like it'd fire up every time I had to head outside to cut some tile (redoing the bathroom).

This is my favorite time of the year. I love Christmas and it's true meaning celebrating the birth of Christ.

This year will be the first time in my life not to be home for Christmas. My son and his wife transferred to Greenville SC so we will be driving up there for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I don't have a problem with it being commercialized, after all, i think it would be a bit rich for anyone to complain about it being hyjacked. Its just the way it goes one for months and there is no escaping it.

It does tend to start far too early and hang around long after the 25th for my liking, unlike every other holiday.

Wow, my favorite time of the year is now. I start watching horror movies though October right up to Halloween (second favorite holiday) and then enjoy the build-up to Christmas (favorite holiday). Love the cool weather and the beautiful autumn leaves. After Christmas I'm done with winter and ready for spring- that's when I tend to get more depressed. That and the middle of summer when it gets hot- wish it could be spring and autumn all year round... 

I hear ya'll on the whole over-doing of Christmas (though now all the stores call it Holiday whatever that is apparently to avoid offending some people). The local Lowe's hardware store was putting up Christmas and Halloween stuff at the same time a month ago. And I was seeing ads for Christmas the day after Halloween- they used to at least wait till US Thanksgiving on Nov the 23rd.
