Well,I got it to the point that I'm comfortable and productive,it would be nice to finish the basement,but that's not gonna happen in the near term.The whole setup works fine for me

How cold does it get during winter in western NC?  You have a nice big room.  Is it a bit cold during winter?  Maybe you use space heaters?

I thought I would need one last year,but its insulated,probably was a low of 60 in there,give or take,so I never got one.

      Hey guys, building four at a time is easy. Ya just stack them on the top of the paint indexing drawers( A little plastic file cabinet.) Two  models wide and two high. The one I work on gets front position.

 I do have to admit to you Tosh that I am a little tad jealous. You are building so much time with Ezra and I never got to do that with mine. All because of a snooty response to something said in a very Emotional time ( My first Wife's Memorial Service). Not me -(Them ) The Children ( Mine).

I returned home to take care of my dad knowing that he didn't have that long to live.  I dropped everything and I literally mean everything in Amsterdam to return home to be a in home care person to him.  To me, that's the most honorable thing you can do for your parents as they did the same for you.

That's how I met Mrs. Toshi.  I took a part time job as a waiter at a local very well know restaurant called Zippy's.  Mrs. Toshi was a co-worker of mine.  I never really took the job that seriously as I was playing music in the evenings.

I used to go to work at Zippy's to BS with customers.  One day we were so busy yet I still stood at a table of my regular customers whom we all shared  an interest in philatelic.  Mrs. Toshi got upset with me and yelled out at the top of her voice so that even the customers could hear, she said (In a very angry and confrontational way) stop talking and clear tables, cash people out, sit people to their tables.  In other words; "Do Your Dam Job"!!!!  LOL!!!!!!

Right then and there I knew she is wife material by telling men what to do!  Lol!  The rest is history.  As for the money situation, when my father passed away, everyone wanted a piece of his life insurance policy.  Even my grandparents wanted in, matter of fact, they threatened to sue me.

But everyone was too late.  I knew what to do as I took power of attorney.  And that was that.  I took my family and moved off that very over crowded volcanic rock 3000 miles away from anything.  It was too expensive to live there as Hawaii doesn't have any form of funds in production, its economy is funded by tourism.

Of course my main point to move my family away from the toxic attitude of my side of the family.  Till this day, my children know nothing about my side of the family.  With that being said, we are very close to Mrs. Toshi's family.  That's why I insist Ezra's time with us is so very important and also my priority in his guidance in life. 

There is only one family member that I still keep in contact with almost everyday, that would be my one and only younger brother.  He's a EMT in Palm Springs, California.  Anyway, every family has a skeleton in their closet.  Thank you sir for sharing as well as the read and reply!  Your support means so much to Ezra and I!

You have a very nice work/display area.  I would be nervous with the ones in the railing, seems like a long drop it they fell.  Also you have a lot of trust in those Command Hooks for hanging the builds on the wall.

The 3M hooks work just ok.  I did have some hooks that detached itself from the wall in the middle of the night!  I don't know why it happens only at a specific time.  Maybe it's the bewitching hour!  Lol!

So far I lost a Tamiya Landcaster, Trumpeter Kingfisher, and some other builds that I can't recall!  Thank you for the support and the read and reply!

Ok here is my current setup in a spare bedroom which I share with my mother-in-law who is a scrapbooker. I have two walls

A couple of old nightstands with a piece of leftover melamine for a top. The wall shelf is an old headboard.

I just added on the left side of my bench a spraybooth made from leftover plywood, melamine, and plexiglass. The fan was $13 from Amazon. Works for now

And the biggest project I've done to date. My display cabinet. 8 feet long 6 feet high. The shelves came from a store going out of business.  Plexiglass doors to help with the dust.

And last is my stash. In the closet of the bedroom I use for my man cave

 

No but seriously, adopt me, PLEASE!!  Your mancave is out of this world and your stash looks like a Amazon store house.  Thank you for sharing as well as the read and reply.  Your support in my threads is greatly appreciated.

That is AMAZING.  I can only begin to imagine how many kits you can store there!  Pristine, wide open, unused storage space!  Sweetness.  Maybe I should ship all my kits over there.  You can have as many as you want. 

I'm with you Real G.  Tojo has an unique situation he has all the room he wants.  Most of us have no space.

Yes I remember that day well.  I was in the one end zone with my parents, uncle, and grandfather.  Jack Squirek intercepted the pass for a touchdown right before halftime and my bevolved Skins were done.  Marcus Allen ruined my childhood.  Oddly enough, we also went to the superdome for Super Bowl XV Oakland 27 Philadelphia 10.

Up until 5 years ago i was modelling downstairs in the dining room, which was a bit of a pain because of lack of space and it was a walk through to the kitchen. But when my eldest step daughter went to University, i was evicted up to what was now a spare bedroom. Not that i was going to complain. But we had to keep the bed in there alonbg with a wardrobe for her to use when she came home for a break from Uni. She left Uni last year after 4 years and moved back home while she was looking for a graduate job and could get a place of her own. This finally happened last month when she got a job and her own place near Nottingham. So, i have spent the last few weeks getting out the bed and furniture and getting ready to finishing off the shelveing on the wall space thats now become availiable. So this is what it like now i have lads more space.

I do need to make somthing to pout my laptop on, as i used to have it on the bed.

The small cabinet under the TV is where my 35th vehicle AM is kept. The 2 boxes hold the 72nd aircraft stuff. This was kept in the draw under the bed, so got to find somthing to keep that in.

And as we live in a small village (around 500 people) and my room is at the back of the house, i do have a rather nice view.

And the other part of my modelling world is the shed. This is wheere i kep the stash, mostly in boxes, and where i do my spray painting and build the bases.

Thanks Tosh. I guess that must be the soldier in me, everything has to have its place. The Mrs got me the trooper a few years back for a birthday.

I do admire that you have a window to work by.  These are photos of my "cave" today, which BTW I have not left for the last 14 days.  I tested Covid postive a week and a half ago and am locked down until Monday. Don't worry, I had nothing more than a runny nose and a slight sinus headache. I had to move my 3D workstation from work into my cave and have been working from home, which is a two bladed sword, for now I am spending ten to fourteen hours down here on work and none on hobbies.  I have not been able to play any music either due to a bad case of tendenitus in my right elbow.  But I'm glad I came here and after seeing what everyone is doing, am taking time off and doing some modeling.

This is one of the most impressive mancaves I have ever seen, Scott. It's very sad to hear that you had the virus but you are not alone, I was also tested positive a week ago... I have locked myself in my real estate in Spain and keeping myself busy with the kits from my stash. Luckily, I have collected enough of them throughout the years...

Thank you Toshi and Barba for the supportive responses. It has been nice to put away work and concnetrate on my models this week.  Its great therapy.  I haven't felt better and only have a few days left to go then I have to go back out into the world.

There are some amazing workspaces here, but the ones that impress me most are those of you working from very small spaces and kitchen tables etc. Its good to have lots of space, but clearly available space has no connection to quality.

I am very lucky. I have a wonderfully supportive wife and lots of space. I only wish that my models were as good as those produced by folks working from corner spaces and kitchen tables! Your space may be small Toshi, but its clearly prolific in terms of both quantity and quality.

I am fortunate enough to have a dedicated room. It is the size of a two car garage with lots of natural light and amazing views. As I'm also a serious collector of militaria, models and militaria have to share the same space.

This is a photo of my work area. It is an old 1930's desk with incredibly deep drawers as I've tried to show.

Along the back wall I have two rows of shelves which hold mostly modeling magazines including Airfix, Scale modelling, Military modelling, Scale Modeler, Military Modeler, amongst others. Some of my Airfix magazines go back to the Sixties.
