G'day Guys!
Having just discovered this Down-Under section of the forum I thought I'd introduce myself.
My name is Mick,originally from the Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne but now posted to Canberra and I build Aircraft(mainly Luftwaffe),cars and Ships.I've been a member of the forum for a while but only just discovered the Aussie Invasion! Great to be here!!

Mick to the Aussie invasion. You have moved to a good area for modeling, lots of good sources for references, a good local based club (if you are interested you can find out more about the club at actsms.asn.au) only draw back is the lack of a really good hobby store.

Don't forget to keep checking this thread, Its a good point of contact for other moldelers based in Australia.

I bet it tastes like chicken!!!

As far as upgrades for the Sabre, I have ordered some, but they won't be going into this Sabre, not enough time! Sad [:(]

I'm still waiting for my kit to arrive!!!!
Talk about pushing the envelope!

BTW, can you send me your address again, I think I may have gotten the mailing address wrong.
I was at the post office when I packed and sent the disk cause they won't let you seal it till it is inspected, and I may have gotten the address wrong Shock [:O]

Tweety1 the address is www.funnyjunk.com for the pics but i couldn't get in last time,don't know why......
I'm planning on adding a new c/pit to the Sabre maybe something else it all depends on whats available,i don't have a credit card so i'll have to find a model shop somewhere here in OZ who stocks it and send a money order to them........
BTW i'll send u an email with my postal address now,why do they inspect discs,do they think there might be illegal material on it..........................J.S

Thanks to Rob [aka Lobbie], I've sucumed to his persistence, [Rob is my boss with the Scale Magic and Shadoworks Resin, I'm the junior in the trio that make up this contracting group], I thourght I'd drop a line and say high to all. My name is Glen, live on the inner western fringe of Melbourne, I build 48 scale aircraft that cover the Pacific theatre of the '39 - '45 war with the odd subject thrown in. I hope to join in on a couple of model projects in the near future. My first post is of a Spitfire, that I had built some time ago with a bit of help from Rob as to how I would lay the model on a dio base.

I give up working out why they do what they do.

And yes, I did get your address wrong, so someone in Qld will be looking at a disk and not having the foggiest what it's all about.!

Don't worry I managed to p/up one from stanbridges over the weekend
made by austlowe models..in 1/24 scale..

Hi,

I'm Richard and I hail from Auckland in New Zealand. I build mostly aircraft in all scales except 144th. I can't see that small anymore. I also build motorcycles and tanks.

i live near the ardmore airfield where the Catalina is based. They also hold vintage airshows there and i saw a couple of Mustangs, a couple of P40s and what looked like a bearcat. they had the LA7 (russian WW2) fighter but it was grounded that particular day.

I've been making models since i was about 10 and have blown many up playing war games with firecrackers and a very active imagination! I now build for relaxation and display.

Looking forward to many future discussions.

i needed help. I’m looking for a kit that is of or can be modified to represent a 69 Mustang Trans Am Boss 302, which alan moffat drove unter coca cola and then Brute 33 sponsorship. Any help would be great.

Hi ROOSTA,

The Aussie equivalent of Future is Pledge One Go or Pascoes Long Life. One Go is not bad for water based washes, but not so good for a Turps/Oil paint wash.

Just beware that Pascoes does not like Acrylic paint at all and if you brush it on it will happily strip your model for you.

Both are fine for canopies, but check these things out on a test kit first.

I have tryed pledge one go and it's great ..but don't know how well the rest work.
maybe someone else has tryed them.

BTW, Matchbox did do a Comet in 1:76, if you are talking about a ground pounder...

I'm not having too much success with the Reckitts 'Long Life', the decals always seem to silver and not settle down. I have gone back to using Humbrol Gloss varnish at the moment. This seems to work a bit better. I may have to try out the 'One Go' I think.
