j.s., be VERY careful with the wide Tamiya tape.
While I'm waiting for my Sabre to arrive for the group build, I've been building an A7D Corsair II, and used the wide Tamiya tape to mask off between the camo and underbelly.
As I removed the tape after painting, it pulled large chunks of paint away from the plastic.
I had washed the kit, and wiped it over with Iso to remove prints and grime etc, and had even applied a layer of Pledge to protect the paint, but the tape tore the whole lot off.
Now the thinner Tamiya tape has never been a problem for me.
So I use the thin tape to define my paint line etc, and if a larger area is needing covering, I use normal masking tape under the Tamiya tape.
When I say normal masking tape, I mean the cheapest and nastiest stuff you can find, the adhesive on this stuff is******poor, so it will barely attach itself to the paint, and comes off with ease.
Saves respraying.
