I also just recieved the October issue of FSM they show how gustav builds the cutaways . what detail these have , a huge amount of work involved in them..

This may be the excuse I have been looking for, to construct my 1:72 High Planes CAC Sabre. I will have the donor kit by then as well.

Count me in! Any timing on this for next year?

Fellow Aussie modellers.....
Tweety1 and myself have been talking in the Aussie GB thread over the last couple of days about a unique Group Build idea we have for 2005....
The idea is to get a few of us aussie modellers together to build a Squadron lineup of 76SQDs CA27 Avon Sabres......
Once all the Sabres are finished we would take a series of photos of each,and using computer software Tweets will combine all the pics into one image creating a Sqd lineup.

This would be the CA27, as for serial numbers, now that I got the kit (it arrived today...........and is gonna be ALOT of work), I will use the adf site you gave me to look a little further into it.

Forgot to add, while I was in Darwin last month for volleyball titles, I went to the aviation museum and took a few pics of the Avon Sabre they have there, so if anyone wants some of them, drop me a line, and I'll mail a CD out to them.

OK to be honest I got lucky on the Mustang, because I was able to read the serial number on the aircraft, from there it was a quick trip to http://www.adf-serials.com/ then into their RAAF Series II (WWII) section, then into Mustangs to find out some information about the aircraft (hopefully). Once you have the squadron or any other information you can do a general search in www.google.com.au and see what you find.

As a matter of fact here's a site with loads of other pics of 84 Squadron's Mustangs, including J.S's Mustang burning at the end of the runway. http://home.st.net.au/~dunn/84sqn.htm

I have to ask, how on earth do you guys manage to get such detailed research on Aussie crafts???
I have tried and tried, but obviously I'm missing something.
Are there websites or books that deal mostly with Aussie craft and pilots??

I use one that is linked to a bank account, so when I order something, I transfer the money required first, then order my items.
Otherwise, it sits there empty till I need something.
It's credit, but different.

Almost forgot,

This is completley off topic but I have just picked up my copy of the Special Edition of Battle of Britain on DVD.

I love this film and have been waiting for this special edition with a DTS soundtrack for ages. Check out your local video retailer if you are interested.

Also, for internet purchases I have a credit card with the minimum limit that is not linked to any of my other accounts at all. I've been using it for a few years now and so far so good Whistling [:-^]

mgbriggs i don't have a credit card mate,so i'll have to send an international money order or something.....
My wife has a visa which i use to order bits and pieces from around Oz but only over the phone,we both agreed not to use the credit card online,hackers have already tried to get the details from her ebay account,they sent an email formated exactly the same as an ebay email and i mean exactly the same asking her to update her account details,they were obviously after the credit card details.SLY Censored [censored]

Ok Snowy you've sold me,not only are you getting it cheaper ( i pay $8:95 ) you're also getting it about 4 weeks ahead of me......
so i'll subscribe when i get a hold of the next issue....

i thought the fellas in the mustang Gb needed a little bit of Aussie in the Ranch
so i'm making the Tamiya kit with an Ultracast prop and spinner plus a Red Roo decal set for this A/C......

if any of you guys have any good references on this mustang your input would be much appreciated......J.S........

As a matter of fact I've had the Sept. issue with the cutaway Spit on it for about 2 weeks now and I don't reckon the newsagents will have them for another 2 weeks at least. Also if you subscribe it can only help make the mag stronger, better and more viable, as they are then pre-sold copies.

I get mine direct for kalmbach publishing , I get it every month with out fail
It all depends on when they order them ..
some newsagents order them in for you , ask them to get it in...

madmike will have to help me organise a signature for my posts... I dunno which one to choose though ... the silver dragon is too tall, so its down to Sir Michael of the Gold (WASMEx gold medal Scifi/Fantasy Figures section) or my Wyvern (WASMEx bronze medal for the same section).
