I might have to do the same. The Microscale Set is that price at the moment at Stanbridges but I am puzzled at why they have not been able to order any in!

BTW try out the Vallejo range of Acrylics at Stanbridges, you will not be disappointed!

Might have to hold off for a bit though as mrs madmike is off buying a clothes dryer Smile [:)] and I just purchased a heap of Conan comics!

cheers

Yep I use windex as well it does the job.
I have an AZTEK470
As soon as I have finished using pledge one go , I soaked the nozzle in windex for a couple of hours , air brush as well just to make sure.
Then I remove the nozzle and cleaned the inside of the airbrush with a q-tip , then I pulled the nozzle apart completely (they recommend that you don't do this though)and clean it with some wire with cotton on it and scrub it with a tooth brush,
then put it back togther this has work for me ..so far..

THANKS MIKETongue [:P]

We are in the middle of revamping the website currently as the current webmaster does not have much time to update it anymore.

Yep, the 18th it will be!

Sign - Welcome [#welcome]Mr & Mrs madmike!

Good too see a husband and wife duo with similar interests.
Been trying to convert my wife for years, needless to say, I'm still trying!Wink [;)]

As for the Micro Sol and Set issue, I ordered mine from-
frontlinehobbies.com.au

They are pretty much the only crowd I deal with, mainly due to their comprehensive web site.
I like to see pics of what I'm spending my hard earned $$ on!

I also orderd my CA27 Avon Sabre from them 3 weeks ago, and they just got it in, so another week and it should be here for the group build.
Cutting it really fine!

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Mrs aboard Madmike. I checked out your website, you have a lovely looking family BTW.

As a bye the bye, I noticed that Aeromaster have released a couple of decal sheets covering RAF & Commonwealth Mustangs. Both set have one RAAF Mustang on them (one is Mustang Mk.III and the other is a Mustang Mk.IV).

I ordered mine straight away because I have been looking for that particular Mustang Mk.III from 3 Squadron for ages.

Cheers

Mike

Yes, Matt is from Stanbridges and is the son of the famous Max Shaw of JB Hobby distributors. Matt iis a top bloke like his dad and is more than willing to help out with ordering stuff in!

Mike, we have a club meeting at 7.30 (comp night too, this month) at the Park Rec Centre in Vic Park if you want to come on down and have a look. You are most welcome to have a look!

We are one big happy modelling family here. Lori does the figure/miniature painting thing, the girls dabble in aircraft models and the lads build Fantasy and Warhammer 40K stuff!

cheers

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] mrs madmike!!

Julian, the treadheads came up trumps! Accurate Armour do a 1/35 Comet, but it's resin and it's pricey!!! ICM possibly once did one too. If you want to see what one looks like, go to the armour forum and look under my "Comet" thread, and someone has very kindly posted a photo of a preserved one. As you can see it's a developement of the Cromwell.

Darson Once all my stuff gets here in a week or two, I should be able to answer your question on red spinners on Mk VIII's!!! Hang in there buddy!! Unfortunatelyit's all still in a container somewhere!!!

In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)

Hi Everyone

I live in Perth Western Australia, am married to madmike and have 3 daughters 2 stepsons and a loopy dog.

Firstly I build figures and paint 25 - 28mm gaming miniatures .... and I'm still an amateur only been doing this hobby for the last 2 yrs.
Secondly I have just read through all 32 pages of posts before announcing myself.

I have a couple of responses to make to some of the questions throughout this thread.
Firstly WASMEx runs a competition within the weekend of its running (Sept 11th & 12th this yr) madmike will be hanging out at the Perth & Districts Modelling Club (PDMC) Display Table so come on over and introduce yourselves to him (I'll be hanging around for an hour or so throughout the 2 days our daughters will be home that weekend no access with their dad).
Also one of PDMC's members Co-ordinates another Model show called Super Model Car Sunday - this yr it has been and gone (it has a competition for Car Modellers).

JS Harrison remind me not to show madmike some of your posts I was foolish enough to show him the one with the website for ausaviation and you guessed it he wants those books Oh Well -- all I can say is "GO get 'em tiger"

Darson you asked about fineliners -- I think you might be able to get hold of a .05 Archive Quality Fine Liner from an Art Supply Shop (I got mine from Jacksons)

To the gentleman who asked about Primer - madmike and I have used Games Workshop's Citadel Skull White as a primer and have had no problems with it at all.

Hope that helps everyone in some small way.

Cheers

lots of excellent info around here..

Not to sure of where you can get them from I'am using the same as you are , but stanbridges should be able to order them in I will be asking them for some over the weekend and find out if they can get dullcoat in as well.
I'll let you know how I go..

I have had the Mocroscale Sol on order at Stanbridges for 6 months now. They have Set. Not sure where to get Solvasett. Railway modellers use the stuff.

If you are looking for a good dull clear. Try Gunze Flat or get Matt Shaw to order some Pollyscale flat clear for you. I got some in the USA 2 years ago and it is great stuff!

cheers

yeah - got the Pham SAS book, but it's the 1st Ed without the East Timor chapter!

and regarding the July issue of FSM. I've been buying this mag for the last 4years, and in that time I have never-ever seen a July issue in any of my town's newsagencies or in Perth aswell. I don't know if it's just Perth or to do with end of fiscal yr stuff, but I've never-ever laid hands on one Big Smile [:D]

Luke

I get my FSM mags from Garden City, here in Perth. I am looking at the July issue at the moment. It is the D-Day special.

Strange that you could not locate one?

cheers

I've posted a picture of a truck that I am finishing off , I airbrushed pledge one go on about 6 coats. The decal looks excellent no silvering at all it blends in well..That is if you have an airbrush..
But make sure you clean the air brush after using pledge..
it will cause problems when you go to use it again if you don't..

Now that is a fine set of decals!!

I brushpaint Future, it has marvellous self levelling properties and I can control the coats much better! I have not tries airbrushing as I have heard horror stories about the application.

On the subject of decals, I cannot get Solvaset or the Microscale system ANYWHERE in Perth. I like to have a full arsenal and currently use Aeromaster Sol II, Mr Mark Softener and Pollyscale (strong). Where can I get thses solutions from without having to order in from overseas?

cheers

If you get really desperate for Future then you can by a 3oz bottle on Greatmodels for a couple of $. They sell it under the title of Acrylic Wax.

I bought a bottle of this with my last order out of curiosity more than anything else. Whilst One Go is the Aussie equivalent of Future I can tell you right now it is not the same thing. The first thing you notice is the smell, One Go has a strong Ammonia base where as Future does not.

I am currently building my Aussie Group Build Spit Mk.VIII with both Future and One Go as a bit of a test. When I'm finished I'll post my results here.

Cheers

Dave

Pledge One Go is a better bet than Long Life.

I am fortunate enough to have a bottle of Johnson's Super Stride and a big bottle of Future that I got in the USA 2 years ago..

Johnson's stopped making Super Stride a while back. But I have enough for quite a number of future models..

cheers

A quick question. How ddo you get that lovely signature to work?

I want to add a pic of one of my finished models but cannot work out how to set it all up!

BTW, Matchbox did do a Comet in 1:76, if you are talking about a ground pounder...
