Bandha sorry to hear about your lost models, do you at least have some photos of them and nice cockpit btw.

Jules those shows can be a real trap when it comes to spending your hard earned. Tell me what did you get for your $200?

Cheers

Darren I didn't seem to get all that much for $200:00 but here it is...........

Eduard Profipac Sopwith Triplane in 1/48 (Sweet kit BTW)
Eduard coloured PE set for my Gavia La-7 and Tamiya Me 262
6 1/72 gun crew figures by warrior for my U-Boat which i think was a bit of a rip job for $40:00
and a few decal sheets, mainly for Luftwaffe A/C
I spent a few hours there and sussed out all the models and came to the conclusion that i may stand a decent chance of taking home a trophy next year, not that i didn't think that the models were good they were fantastic, anyway i'll be entering my U-Boat and He219 for next years show............

Dead [xx(]

Just about finished the rigging on my 1/48 SPAD. I'm officially cross-eyed. I've done 24 rigging lines and have maybe 8 to go.

Jules it sounds like you've got quite a good stash there for your $200 and I do agree that $40 is a bit rich for 1/72 figures (even if they are really good ones). Your right btw, those Eduard profi pak kits are great aren't they.

Andrew rigging is something that has always kept me away from biplane kits because it scares the cCensored [censored]p out of me, but I was thinking Eduard 1/48th Fokker D.VII OAW because it has almost no rigging at all.

Cheers

Yeah the Sopwith Triplane only has a small amount of rigging to do but the SE5A that i'm planning on building has a decent amount..........

Is it time for another Group build yet? I think that seeing the number of ppl that didn't complete the last one in the time limit, why not make it an extended time frame so the busy folk can finish one in time? That way the prolific modelers can possibly build more than one kit.

Dave I think that's a great idea, I have actually noticed a few of the group builds advertised for next year have extended timeframes of six months or so.

As for another GB well there are plenty on the go or starting up at the moment, you should check out the GB page. If it's next years Aussie or ANZAC GB you are talking about, I don't know what's happening. I haven't heard from South Aussie in ages, have you?

Well our very own Michael "madmike" Johnson has got himself another article published and this time it's on ModelingMadness.com.

If anyone would like to check out a very nicely finished CA-13, have a look at:

Hi everone, just like to say hi to all the the aussies here!!! I have been on the forum for a few months now and have just discovered this thread, its good to know that the hobby is still somewhat alive and well here in Aus. I have been back into modeling for a while now after a long break and am into 1/700 ships and 1/72, 1/48 aircraft ww2 and modern . I was wondering how you guys find buying models etc on the net from the many mail order companies, many of which are in the US. do you generally get good service, how do the prices compare with the exhange rate and postage etc ?? how much does it cost to bring a couple of models in to aus. or is it not worth it and do you just buy from the LHS?? any info ,suggestions would be appreciated! Welcome to the thread Richard. There is also the annual Australian Group build as well as this thread, the last one has completed and we are just waiting for the next one.

I have ordered items from England and other places on the odd occasion and usualy it's cheaper than buying from local importers. I usualy work out the costs and if its only a little cheaper I will buy it local to support the hobby shops.

I have purchased paints from WEM in the UK, outstanding fast service and everything arrived in good nick. And the price was not far off what I would pay in the LHS for paints.
I have also just ordered a PE set for my 1/350 USS Essex, and it worked out $20 cheeper that to buy it from the local suppliers, and that is after postage and the currency exchange. So shop around and seen what sort of value you can get for your $.

P.S. I don't mind buying from local shops but I will not allow myself to be taken advantage of pricewise. If the local guys can compare with overseas then I will buy local, otherwise I let my fingers do the walking.

Greetings Citizens!

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

1/48th SPAD VII is finished!!! Party [party]

8 months from start to finish. That's a record time for me lately.

I'll put up some pix in the aircraft forum when the sun comes out to justify some photography.

Hi fellow modelers, just to let you know I am still alive and kicking. I haven't done much modelling lately, decided to redesign my modelling room then found out that I would have to rework the garage so that I could build my new modelling workbench and display cabinet, still working on it.

Darren. Haven't even thought about next years group or ANZAC group build, but I am still prepared to organize them if there is still an interest in them.

For those who are interested the South Australian Scale Model Expo will be held on October 29th & 30th, more info can be found at gumnut.net/sapma/expo. Hoping to enter two fiqures in this comp if I can finish them.

The wierd thing about the move is that I lost some of my finished models. I remember placing them into a box; didn't throw any out; didn't arrive in the new place. The only one that's a bit of a loss is the P-51D.

Carl; You have my sympathy about your lost, have suffered the same during moves whilst serving with the RAAF.

Glad too see your still around WayneCool [8D]

Carl I have no idea how I'd cope with losing models during a move.
But on the bright side, at least you get to replace themBig Smile [:D]

I am still interested in another Aussie GB, or even an ANZAC GB.

I agree with Sean, it's good to see you are still with us Wayne. I thought you might have moved on to greener pastures.

As for next years build I would put my vote in for an ANZAC build but either way Aussie or ANZAC I'll be in it.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the forum Richard, it's always nice to have another Aussie on board.

An Aussie or ANZAC build works for me.

I am happy, I may manage to get back to models this week as I have a couple of days off this week!!! Time to get that 1/48 B-24 finished (finally). Now I just have to find the Catalina to sit next to it Big Smile [:D]

I'm up for another Aussie/Anzac GB too fellas. I've got a 1/72 RAN Tracker conversion all lined up for it. It'll be a big job because the Hobbycraft kit is crap. Alot of scratchbuilding will be needed........Can't wait (I think?).

Hi all

Sorry about the absence, been a hectic few weeks here at home. Here is a few pics of my latest build, a Hasegawa F4U Egg Plane.

Built up very well, with only minor filler needed in places. I used a spraycan of Tamiya AS series Dark Sea Blue and Aeromaster Orange Yellow for the cowling colour.

Decals went on well and settled nicely with Mr Softener (recommended for Hasegawa decals). Once the wash was applied everything was sealed in with the usual Pollyscale Flat clear.

However, when I unmasked the canopy, some dust had settled on the black coaming inside the canopy which is obviously impossible to remove without ripping the canopy off Sad [:(]

Still, I have a beaut time building this little Bent Winged Egg and am now keen to get hold of the F-14/F-18/F-16 and WW2 eggplanes to add to my meager stash of them. The collectors prices are scaring me though!

If anyone wants to sell any, please let me know!

Still here it is, enjoy!

cheers

Mike

Hi fellas

Just a note to let all know I am alive and kicking.

Now for the all important call for HELP!!!!!

The modelling club that I am a member of is having a anything 1950's April Group Build (i.e. planes, cars, trucks, ships and anything else used or built in the 1950's); now the item doesn't necessarily have to be Australian, however I (being a figure and diorama builder [one of these days I'll get a dio finished] ) was at first perplexed as to what to build until at my LHS I found a 1:32 scale Outhouse (an outdoor dunny).

Now for the Help part...I have decided to build a dio of a 1950's Aussie Backyard but I am having no luck finding any pictures of a typical 1950's Aussie Backyard, so if anyone has any photos/pictures of their parents or grandparents backyards in the 50's with an outdoor dunny I would really appreciate it if they would email a scan of the picture to me.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

cheers

Mike cool looking egg plane Thumbs Up [tup], where on earth did you get the kit from?

Lori (MMM) I've had a look through the old family photos, but all our stuff is from the late 60's and definitely no outdoor dunny. My grandma's had an outdoor dunny a loooong time ago but I don't know if I have any pics of it. I will keep looking but can't promise anything, sorry.

Cheers
Darren

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadmike!

I presume if you want to build a C-5 Galaxy in Egg format, you would need to scatchbuild it using a dinosaur egg as a basis!
