Yes, OOB means just that, out of box

And yes, making the Sabre is all about the difference between it and the F-86.
Better engine was it's largest assest.
The F-86 was a fine craft, but compared to the CAC version, it was as slow as a slug.

As for NMF, its not as hard as they make it out to be, in my opinion.
All depends on what type you choose.
I prefer the Alclad II system, and the hardest part about this was sanding the gloss black coat shiny smooth, in prep for the final coat.
My P-38 looks beautiful.

Now that I have caught up with the posts that have been posted since my last visit, an update on the group build, still haven't heard back for David(maybee the original email went astray, so sometime over this weekend I'll set up the group build thread, post it on the board, then try again to make it a sticky.

Must argee with some that the lastest Modelart mag was not that interesting.

Bob, I've got to agree with you about the cost, the alternative I use is Humbrol No1, this primer is supplied the same in way as their normal paints, I usually air brush it on although it can be hand painted on.

As for the use of a Primer it does help the paint adhere to the models better especially if you have metal or resin parts.

Have no problem with your design, was thinking that a group build badge would be a good idea but my limited computer skills stopped me in my tracks. Quite happy to let you run with this.

Tweety. The Americans leased us 24 F4 Phantoms , (I think not quite sure of the the number, could have been 12, long time ago) to cover the delays in supplying the F - 111 we had ordered to replace the Canberras. They were based at Amberly in QLD and were given RAAF markings and serial no,s( again can't remember the A serial given). We had them in service for more than six months (teach us to buy aircraft of the drawing board) When we finally received the F- 111 the Americans offered us a chance to buy the Phantoms at basement bargin prices, which was turned down.

There has to be more material out there that can be accesed to give it more staying power.

The PE stands for Photo Etched

Actually I might just make them OOB, just for something different.
Besides, you can't improve on Aussie Made. Naturally it's the best!

I bought a bottle of Pledge One Go from Woolworths here on the Gold Coast so I would assume they would have it in Brisbane as well.

[:0]Bob are we supposed to prime before we paint i didnt know that i just start with the lightest colour first and go from there seams dont seem to be a problem.But if i was to prime a model i would use an acrylic light grey and run it through my airbrush.[:0]

I put up a post in the airbrush/painting section but got no response so I thought I would try here.

I am currently using Tamiya spray can primer for my aircraft - but at $10.00 a can they are getting a bit expensive. Can anyone recommend a good primer that is cheaper and in a larger can and is readily available in Oz?

tweety - posting images in the signature is the same as in posts. Use the picture-insert icon or type and just insert the picture hyperlink as you do with photos. I'll allow you to do it with our GB piccy . For thos who dont know how to insert pics, I'll explain it for y'all!

Example
Step 1: type
Step2: right mouse click on the pic, select properties, and copy the Address URL in full like with any other pic!
Step3: insert this URL address inbetween the with no spaces between the brackets & the address.
Step4: Wollah . . .


I though last nite being West Australian, I should have put EB for Emu Bitter instead of GB for 'Group Build'. But after a hard days modelling, You need a big cold beer, And the best cold beer is Vic . . . Victoria Bitter. So I should put "Aussie VB" in there instead !

Ok guys i found these books on the net theyre the Australian air power series and you can buy them online from www.ausaviation.com.au i didnt see the sabre book but they have most of the series including the boomerang.

No go on the book i just tore the shed apart and couldnt find it [typical] it was one of a whole series of books so im going to hunt around newsagents and bookstores for another copy as well as the one on spitfires and kittyhawks.

tweety1 the shiny one would be the cac sabre ive got the book up in the shed[somewhere]but there are some great pics of a restored to airworthy sabre still flown by the RAAF at shows and its the best looking sabre ive ever seen,natural metal finish with markings from the black diamonds aerobatic team.

Chris sorry mate no books on boomerangs only a couple of plates from an old aeromasters catalouge.

[ps] TWEETY1 willgo up and brave the shed tommorow and grab the book,by the way i bought it from a newsagent in Fortitude valley Brisbane but i still see them kicking around in other newsagents.I will post the ISBN no and the Publisher on this thread.
One more thing im getting a scanner next week so i could put some pics of the sabre up in my profile.
