I should have visited Alice Springs. At the rate they charge for
accomodations there at Ayers it would have saved a bundle. I was
contemplating just driving off towards Alice and pulling off and
camping. I am an old North American desert rat having lived in Arizona
and Nevada for years, and I do that all the time, but an earlier trip
to the Perth Zoo with the snake and spider exhibit convinced me other
wise. Rattlers are one thing, Browns and Taipans are another. And
then funnel web spiders.... I really don't know what I am doing
out there.
I have done the beer gut thing. And at this stage in life I am working
the other direction and trying to lose it. Just about there, too.
Modeling? Oh, yeah. uh, gee, let's see. Working on a USAAF 71st
squadron P-38 that my dad was actually a crew chief upon in North
Africa. He also was one of the mechanics on one of the first P-38
piggybacks. He has passed away, but I transcribed his diary from those
