Re MM paints & Hobbyco in Sydney. They have quite a big range of the enamels but no acrylics. As ever, they're totally hopeless at restocking sold-out colours for all paints except Tamiya. It's a shame, I once got some MM acrylics from the US & really liked them.

Wing'z & Things in Gladesville have the best range of Gunze acrylics in town.

I've just finished moving into a house in Melbourne. This was no thanks to the removilist that couldn't arrive on time or even manage to get all our gear to the house in one trip! We are still waiting fro them to find stuff that has dissapeared. But the models have survived.

 I have also managed to have time to complete another update on the Aussie Modeller International web site.

Can sympathise with you Dave, been there and done that during my 33years in the Air Force, glad to hear that your models survived, on one removal my entire collection of models never arrived and were never found, almost gave up modelling after that.

  At least now that I have retired this shouldn't be a problem any more.

I would like to know of a few good hobby stores in Brisbane. My mom, who has been living in Brisbane for a few months (and doesn't know thw city well enough yet), is coming back to South Africa for a visit. I'd like her to bring a few things with her that I can't find here, particularly an Academy 1/48 Su27 Russian Knights kit, or alternatively a decent decal set that I can apply to the standard Su27 kit.

I buggered up my 1/48 B-29 by putting the stars and bars on upside down.  Anyone know where I could pick up some replacements in Australia ?  I want to post pics but obviously wont until I fix this hideous mistake.

Damn . . . sorry to hear that. My blood would be boiling and my heart stopped if that happened to me. You could try Ebay, but most LHS sell decal sheets for B-29 from like AeroMaster (well those in Perth anyway). Unfortunately, I don't have a set to pass on. You could log into www.aircraftresourcecenter.com and post on the forum asking if anyone has a spare set, and that you would be happy to trade or pay for them. This has worked for me in the past (not all the time) esp when a DML 1/350 ship kit came with no decals!

Something to think about, if you don't remove or paint over the mistake decals, you may want to apply two thick decals per area so the dark blue upside-down star points don't appear through the white areas. Just a thought.

  I see it's been a bit quite on this thread lately, so to try and liven it up whats everbody working on at present and/or what they are planning to work on next.

 I haven't been that busy in modelling lately, been suffering from an extended case of modellers block, so to try and break it decided to give fiqures a break, I've decided to do armour modelling again starting with Dragon's Smart Kit of the Panzer Pz.Kpfw. 1 Aust.A.  If this works out my next model will most likely be one of the kits based on the Pz.Kpfw. 1.

I suffered the same thing :)

Back into it with a Hobbyboss 1:72 P-47D Thunderbolt. A quick and easy build.

and something I am really getting into, 1:72 armour. After 2 builds I am getting hooked!

Madmike:-  Your thuderbolt looks goods, so does your armour.  (Be careful with the armour modelling has a habit of taking over)

Harvs73:- Sounds like you have been busy.

I have had a set back with the Panzer 1,  teach me to take a break, and then forget to spray a test piece to ensure that the Ducote would not effect the coat under it.    At least is was only the turret that was effected. 

 For those that use humbrol Gloss Clear Poly (35) as a gloss finish for decalling - Do not use Dulcote as a final flat finish unless you test the surface that you are overcoating.  Never had problems before with overcoating Humbrol enamels with Dulcote, this was the first time I used the Humbrol gloss, looks like the Ducote reacted with it.

Hi guys

I'm getting back into the game after a long absence.  Looking into what I need to get set up again and where to start with my stash etc.  I've built mainly 1/48 WWII aircraft but also done some 1/72 aircraft and 1/600 Airfix ships.  Have a Tamiya King Tiger in the stash so that might get done one of these days.

I'm in Perth.

1/48 aircraft, 1/35 armour,1/350 ships cars, bikes.....the list goes on...we know the rules build one buy three!

Getting harder these days to find quantity time to put in on builds as well as keeping up with the newest and greatest releases.

Looks like a date for my diary.  Where will WASMEX be held?

Wife is having coffee in the city with the girls tomorrow so I'm going to browse around Perth Hobby Centre for a bit to get an idea of what's available.  Don't think I'll be buying anything though, the net has more range!

We had an appointment in Mt Lawley this arvo that finished just after 4 so Jodi, my wife, suggested we drop in to Stanbridges.  Had a good look round at the aircraft kits and got a good idea of prices.  Did the same with the paints and also had a look at the airbrushes and compressors, again just to get an idea of price.  Saw my first Eduard kits and was surprised by the wall of blue Revell boxes!

Do you blokes recommend any airbrushes at all?  I've been thinking along the lines of using Model Master enamels due to range and being easy to get hold in Perth of but would welcome any advice as have never used an airbrush before.

Heartily recommend a Delta double action airbrush from Stanbridges for around $100. You will need a compressor and water trap with that also.

Personally I use acrylic paints due to clean up easy and the fumes problem with enamels.
