This is (was?) an intriguing thread (is it dead yet?) - I can't believe I read the whole thing!

I've been lurking for awhile, and this thread compelled me to register and respond.

As far as dead or dying hobbies go, I'll have to second the opinions on dice & paper role-playing games...

...working 40 hrs+/week with my nose 20 inches from a computer screen, I NEED to take a break from the techno-toys. I HAVE TO spend time working with my hands or else I'll go crazy....

I'm with you j.edi, once I get home at the end of a day, computer gaming or watching TV just don't interest me all that much. Modeling (sorta...) keeps me out of trouble when I'm not playing ball or hockey.

I did read recently that dressing up cows then shooting them has really dropped in popularity. What a shame, another dying hobby.

I read somewhere there was a problem with some groups refusing to wait until another group finished dressing the cows before shooting, there was an unfortunate incident...

Right after we were married my wife mentioned she likes going to home interior parties to find knick-knacks to put on the walls and of all the kitschy prints she's never seen any of roadkill so now whenever we see something splattered in the road we call it a "home interior moment".

Maybe if I started building roadkill dios I could sell them at home interior parties!  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............................................................

Ahhhh - roadkill under glass. I've always leaned towards the exotic ones like possum and kangaroo, but I just don't have the display space for them where I am. I stick to rodents, that, uhhh, were stuck to the road....

umm.. some of our roadkill here in Maine....sometimes is to large to fit in your car,, unless you hack-em up first... Them Moose is big.. !!

How can an animal that large have 90% of its weight up top, just waiting to plummet into the front seat of a car?? I heard of a guy on a motorcycle a few years ago that had a moose jump in front of him. He had the presence of mind (or sheer, dumb luck) to ditch the bike & slide into the moose's legs...

Moose steps infront of Motorcyclist,, rider hits moose in chest... moose stumbles away with busted ribs, and broken legs..

Motorcycle continues going up the road , no rider, still on 2 wheels.. about 1000ft or so.. it meets another car head on..

all this happened at night...

motorcycle rider was injured pretty bad.. he did live and recover..

other driver of the car that hit the bike was freaking out,, he thought he ran over the motorcyclist...

Freaky, I can almost see Wilie Coyote running head-on into an anvil, motorcycle still going....

it seriously went over 1000' ,, down into a dip and up the other side.. it was still going when it hit the oncoming car.

I stil remember how freaked the other driver was.. all he saw was a riderless motorcyle...

Speaking of roadkill.......as of last night, there's one less racoon in my area. THUMP THUMP, it was a big one! Roads were bad, I wasn't about to try and dodge it and end up wrapped around a tree.

 When I lived in Hawaii, a friend and his dad were on there bikes, going through an area that had cattle pastures. A crotch rocket flew past them, they estemated it at over 100 mph. A loose cow walked out into the road, and was split in two. The bike and rider continued on for another 100 yards or so then began to wobble and went down. When they got up to the guy, half his helmet and contents were ground down from the road.

One loose cow can ruin your whole day. And, speaking for the cow, so can a m0r0n doing 100 on a bike.
