You can speak for me on this Dom.  I too, feel deeply honored.  Does anyone know if Berny had a chance to complete the last bit of assembly on the 69-260.  I'm just wondering if he did.

Greetings,

I wish to give a big thank you to the following persons for contributing money for Berny's flowers:

Rich (aka Sparrowhyperion)

Dom (aka Bockscar)

Bill (aka Bgrigg)

Omar (aka oortiz10)

Jim (aka fox)

Also I wanted to give praise to Rich and Dom for working together an coming up with the t-shirt.  For those of you who did not see it, here is a picture:

Berny liked this shirt so much that his wife is going to have it buried with him.  It is really great that you two did this for him.

Berny's viewing is this evening and he will have a full military funeral tomorrow.

I can't speak for Rich, but I know he will be honored at the thought. Actually a little bit in shock (in a good way) Berny's T will be spending eternity with him......

Truly sorry I missed him in Dayton.  I  hope his family can find comfort in the respect everyone had for him.

I may get so drunk, I have to crawl home. But dammit, I'll crawl like a Marine.

Hello everyone,

Dom has a very good suggestion.  We should send flowers to Berny's family.  Anyone who is interested and would like to donate, please send me a private message.  We can use PayPal to transfer the money.

Ken

Ken, PM sent.

Berny was the kind of guy that you respected and like just about instantly.  The World will be greatly diminished by his passing.  He truly left this world a better place than before he arrived in it.  Our Family wished him our best in the next life.  We should all take comfort in the fact that he is now without pain or infirmity.  He is will greatly missed.

Berny not only gave us his protection in his service to our country, but he gave us his friendship as well. He is a great loss to us all.

Blue skies to you Berny, and thank you sir.

Rest in Peace my friend.

We are all poorer for your loss, but you are no longer suffering and we can find some comfort in that.

Blue skies, my friend.

I hope Berny's last hours were spent dreaming of flying. He was so heart broken when he lost his pilot license when first diagnosed with cancer. When he beat that particular cancer back, and was given the medical clearance to reapply for his license, he worked ferociously hard to get back his wings. And he did.

I'm not a religious man, but I think Berny should get a new set of wings, now.

And with that, a page has turned.

So long folks!

Greetings everyone,

The inevitable has happened.  Berny passed away peacefully early this morning just before sunrise.

This is indeed a very sad day for us all.  Berny was a wonderful person, always willing to help out in any way he could.  He would gladly answer any questions that he knew the answer to and would even ship anything that he had possession of to anyone who needed it.  He was a straight shooter and told you like it was.  And he was a big believer in having fun with this hobby.

We will all miss him a great deal.

Greetings everyone,

I talked to Berny’s friend again tonight.  His name is Richard.  Richard said that the hospice nurse came by again today.  According to the nurse, Berny’s heart is weaker than it was yesterday and his breathing is getting shorter.  The nurse said that he will probably expire tonight.  Richard told Berny that everyone here was sending their condolences and Berny managed to signal his acknowledgement by moving his hand a little.  That is about all he can do now.  The nurse said that he is able to understand when someone is talking to him.  They are keeping him as comfortable as can be done.

I hope his dreams are of the good times he has had in his life.

Nothing else matters at this time other than having family close.

We were so concerned his son wasn't going to get there in time.

Thank God for small mercies.

I am very glad his son got there in time, and that they have some time together

I know how important it is to have family around during this time, we got Anne down to Jax to see her brother with only hours to spare

Berny is a fighter.  I could tell that when I met him.  It's good he and his Son have some time.

As sad as the news is about Berny, it's good to hear that he has been able to hold on and has been able to spend some time with his son.

Greetings friends,

I spoke with a close friend of Berny a little while ago.  Berny’s son arrived last night and has been spending a lot of time with him.  Berny’s heart is getting weaker and his breathing is getting slower.  He is still aware enough to understand what is going on although he is unable to communicate through speech.  I asked Berny’s friend to tell Berny that we are all thinking about him and miss him a great deal.

Our prayers go out to Berny and his family this morning....it's 4 am here and I have not been able to sleep all night since reading this last night.  We just lost a family member and a family friend on the same day this past week to cancer......frankly, I dont know about you guys but I am getting sick of hearing about good people having to fight this disease.  I've been healthy for some time now from my cancer.  Berny, whatever it is youre fighting for, I know you will make it to that moment.  Praying for peace and comfort for you and your family.  God Bless....man, I really wish I had seen this thread earlier, I was available to go to Dayton at that time and would have gladly made the trip.

Hello everyone,

I spoke with a close friend of Berny and got the latest status.  His status hasn't changed since yesterday.  Everyone still believes he is waiting for his son to arrive.  His son is expected to get there around 9:30 PM central daylight savings time this evening.
