Can someone with the magazine take a look at the review of the Vulcan Vickers tank? The review insert mentions 60 photoetched metal parts and 40 white metal parts, but the text of the review makes no mention of the parts. Are they for the tracks? I noticed the review didn't talk about the type of tracks (vinyl vs. indy).

Maybe I was just sleepy when I read it.

Manstein's revenge

...the January 2012 copy came today.

Aaron, I think you did a good job w/ the NMF on the MiG 17, but IMO it is waaaaaay too shiny for the scale...

The finish looks as shiny as the chrome on one of Herman Goering's Mercedes roadsters.

It does show the paint can be buffed to an amazing degree of reflectivity.

ahhh, the new avatar would seem to be from the RLM Christmas Party of '37, Manny was lead alto in the armed services choir that year. I'm not convinced it hasn't been altered though, it is in colour after all.

I liked seeing that P61 review as well as I've been thinking about that kit. I'd have to go out of my way to make room for it though so I've passed on it for now. (Surely I can find it second-hand in the future?!?!)

And the Mig is verrrry shiny to my eye also, dangerously close to chrome finish. But I suppose the whole point of the article was showing how to get that crazy finish, most would want to dull it down from there.

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

Very underwhelmed by the "Dreadnought"...

Ditto...especially for the price...as a base kit I suppose it will do but it needs some AM to trick it out to my level...

Yes, and it's a B.

i liked the issue because there were multiple ships.

The Nassau is a really really well done model, and the air wing is just stunning.

Ummm, liked the cv-10 but that cve is fantastic.

Very underwhelmed by the "Dreadnought", not "Warspite".Well painted, though.

Got to tell you Manny, the Field Marshall Santa is creeping me out Huh?.

I can see him stuffing my kids stockings with 88 shell casings!

And the P-61 review should be interesting...... given all the hub-bub.

Science is the pursiut of knowledge, faith is the pursuit of wisdom.  Peace be with you.

...the January 2012 copy came today...it was in the back of an Opel Blitz truck carrying replacements up to the front along with my issue of MAXIM and Popular Mechanics...

...pretty good issue...some good reviews--two I was particularly interested in: Great Wall's P-61 and the Zvezda Warspite....

Aaron, I think you did a good job w/ the NMF on the MiG 17, but IMO it is waaaaaay too shiny for the scale...How did the Hobbyboss kit itself build up?---its one of my stash-sitters...
