 Hans von Hammer:

Don't need good eyesight to join the CAF... Just a checkbook..Wink I'm talking about the Comemmorative Air Force, formerly known as the Confederate Air Force...

And that's why I love the US, if you can't join one air force, no worries, there are 4 other sorts of 'combat action' groups you could join...

Maybe, maaaaybe one day I can get to the US and become a fighter pilot (My GF was born in DC and lived 8 years in the states, so she wouldn't have any problem to be allowed to migrate to the US I suppose...)

IIRC, there's a CAF unit in either France or Belgium..

The CAF is the largest privately-owned military air force in the world..

Rob Gronovius

I got 'Gloze'.

I've had many callsigns throughout my career, most are based on your position. Nowadays with frequency hopping, eavesdropping on radio frequencies is very difficult.

From memory, White 1, Wild 1, Animal 5, Black 5, Scorpion 8, Commanche 6, Hammer 6, but I was often called Sabot on the radio. That nickname stuck for decades.

All I remembered was I got  "Dragon" on the Bde/Bn nets, and "Bugs" (short for "Bugs & Gas") on the company net when we finally went to the Hollywood callsigns...  Other than those two, everthing else was the old standard CEOI/SOI stuff...

My CAF callsign was finally changed from "Doorknob" to "Knobby" after a few years, lol...

Armor units lived in the "safety in numbers" game. Every tank company in every battalion in every brigade in every division used Red/White/Blue to denote 1st/2nd/3rd platoons. So you know you're listening to White 1, aka 2nd platoon leader, but which White 1? could be the second platoon leader of any tank company in the US Army.

CallSignOWL

how do you think I got my name? Stick out tongue

I hope it's because you have such big beautiful eyes and not because you can turn your head 180 degrees to look over your shoulder Propeller

Apparently the generator is totally random, I entered the same name multiple times and got different call-signs.

This one is a little more "scientific", I think.. I took it three times, answered the same way three times, and got the same call-sign..

"Slow-Mo"... You don't sweat the small stuff, and you never worry about being first in line or out the door. More than one enemy Flying Wing or atomic rocket has attacked what they thought was the rear of your formation only to find you on their tail, cheerfully riddling them with fifty-caliber machine guns. Not one to stress easily, you often remind everyone that good work can't be rushed.

http://rumandmonkey.com/widgets/toys/testgen/3285/

It gave me the inspiration I was looking for too.. I needed a name for my WIP P-40, and "Slow Moe" is perfect! Now if I can just find the artwork of a WW1 "Doughboy" shuffling along with his rifle on his shoulder and his hands in his pockets, it'll be complete...

Hey, ChuckW! Mission fer ya! Need ya to draw me a "Moe"...

Ya, I know.. Ain't hardly worth goin' to war no more... Whistling

But maybe there's still hope.. There's at least one female pilot , last name's Eastwood, that got a "four-letter spelling" of the name "Clint" for a callsign.. I'll leave it to your "Airborne-Mind" to decipher which letter got dropped from "Clint", since FSM's still a family rag (and I don't wanna go to the stockade)....  Tell ya though, it was the first call-sign that ever made me friggin' howl...
