That is called the "lug nut rule", something I learned from a CHP Officer early in my career regarding collision investigations. The vehicle with the most lug nuts wins in any collision. And where I work I really do wish that more cyclists would read the California Vehicle Code and learn their responsabilities under the law (lights, riding on the far right edge of the roadway, obediance to traffic signals, not crossing the roadway in a designated legal area, etc.) so that I do not have to do the paper work on their foolish choices when asserting their mistaken "rights" against a car that ends up mangling them and the cyclist is most or fully at fault...

Now there is a good gruesome diorama subject...

It never ceases to amaze me that somewhere there is a company that will make a kit of most any subject. Human heart, see thru dog, 40 mule team, V-ger... The kit above is a great example of that. I love it! Now of we could get a G.I. Joe, a Ken Doll, or some other 1/8 scale figure in some spandex to put with the kit for a diorama of castel or red...

Lol!  Those are the rules.  That's just the way it is.  Some people here might be opposed to bike riding.Big Smile

It's Friday evening. Almost 1830 hrs Pacific Standard Time, and I can count the total number of forum members online right now on both hands. Actual posting going on is just as sparse... What gives?

I took Friday off, and unplugged the computer until I returned to the office this morning. Actually got some work done on my Flanker. Coincidence!?......

I always wanted one of these kits. What is the detail quality?

Wow that's an old model. Entex I think. Quality is bad on an objective scale, but what can it be compared to? Nothing else like it.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Yup.

Now that the subject of bikes has come it no longer has anything to do with modeling but this thread is still here.  Must like bicycles in Wisconsin.

I was afraid that the bikes will be nuked. Maybe Ironman Wisconsin has something to do with it...the devil knows. But those model bikes certanly saved the day.

Maybe I build one...

Cheers...

Nope, it has no more to do with building than any of the trivia quiz threads...

Unless that bike is made by Tamiya

Thanks Kugai. I just read the post and came back here to edit my post. Sad state of affairs it is.

Hey RedCorvette, are you into tris?

Yep.  Love doing tri's.  I do 3-4 races a year, plus some road races.  Since the race season is over now I'm trying to start spending more time at the model bench again.  Too many hobbies and not enough time...Sad

Here's a shot of my bike:

Nice bike. Cannondale was my first tri bike, many moons ago. It had grip shifts on the aero bars. Now I have Cervelo P2SL, the yellow kind. Not much racing lately...you know, family, school and of course modeling.

Cheers...

Nice bike and wheels (great to see a Cannondale), I remember talking with you guys a while back about tris, I think.  My goal next year (after I hit the big 50) is to do my first in about 15 years!  Still got the same bike a Cannondale R 700 ( but did a little upgrading).  If you think about, what do models and tris have in common?

Sorry guys, for the last week I've been kinda bad-tempered and irritable. Just figured it would be better for me to stay away from anything social for awhile.

On the flip side since I just got home from vacation/holiday and missed my bench I've got more modeling done than I have in a long time.

It seems that I have missed some "events" here? Why was Manny banned...what did I mis?

We can't get into it.  If you see a locked thread in this section, that will have more info on it but we're not allowed to talk about it or there will be consequences.

At first I knocked out most of the honey do list around the house. Got new countertops installed in the kitchen, new windows (17) installed, repainted the interior rooms, did floors in the upstairs bathroom, went to school functions, lunch & movies with the wife & doing local tourist-type stuff around town, etc.

I also spent a lot of time playing World of Warcraft online and building kits (just not finished painting them)

Was planning on re-doing floors in the other bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room, but after doing the smaller kid's bathroom upstairs, I released my back couldn't take that much work.

Cold weather set in, so I didn't do as much outside so after the New Year, I decided to look for a part time job. Ended up getting hired full time at the first and only place I applied to (GE in Louisville). Saw a news story on the local TV station about them looking to hire.

Not working just wasn't for me. The occasional nine hour shifts get taxing as do the occasional mandatory Saturdays. I turn down a lot of overtime though.

I know of one other retiree working with me. He retired from the FAA and is 57 and started working a month or two ago. I know of several other folks around that age that were hired as well. At 48, I'm probably twice the age of most who were hired with me. Most of the 20-somethings left, but the 30-somethings stayed.

It's nice knowing that I work because I want to, not because I have to. I also found out that they don't pay taxes on veterans they hire. Some sort of tax break.

I was bored being retired so I got a job to occupy my free time. Instead, I got a job that consumes all my time. I like the work, but got stuck on 2nd shift and am out of the house from 2 PM to 1 AM daily (and often Saturdays).

No offense Rob, but how do you get bored being retired? When I was unemployed, it was pretty cool, except looking for a job. I had all the time to work on my hobbies, read, watch movies, etc. I mean it was great, except.....having to look for a job. That part sucked the big one.  Finding someone that actually wanted me wasn't easy, especially at my age. Thankfully, i have a second life.

That shift has been mine for almost all of my 20+ years in Law Enforcement... those are the fun hours! And once you learn to budget them well with family and other obligations can be quite conducive to model building.

Well I see that there was a flurry of activity here since my originl post here, but that seems to be tapering off and hopefully when all debris stops falling we can get back to lots of building and posting here again.
