as was mentioned beats the alternative. i can't use magnifiers for some things, could be i need more practice, could be my eyeball boresight range is wierd. I CAN model without classes, except for safety glasses, though no prints can be an issue and antennas are dangerous. my detail painting has actually improved.

I wear trifocals and use the optivisor for detailing, no biggie there.  Geeked What really bothers me are back problems that keep me from doing certain normal every day things. Sad

How's this for a hoot ?

I have to use readers  , optivisors and magnifiers from a special support office chair and  It better swivel so I can hobble in for that cuppa joe ! Then to top it off , how about braces mounted on the tabletop to keep me from shaking  , BUT , I will model til the room darkens from blindness and I need some , young and pretty thing (whom I probably cannot see ) to hold my coffee cup for me . Then I will stop modeling . I believe that will be around 125 - - Hmm ?

I swear the day after I turned 40 my eye went,  had to get readers the next day, after 10 years my readers are at 2.25 strength,  my far vision is still fine.   Too many years staring at little parts I guess, it must be the body's revenge!Devil

You guys are a hoot!

I'm just B****ing a little. Most of me still works good. Hands work good, don't have much pain from Arthur, just some stiffness. I can concentrate for a long while as long as I leave the TV off and nobody is home. The vision thing started about three years ago and then in the last year kicked in full force. Today at work I broke my readers and thought I was screwed. I can't see a thousandth of an inch six inches from my eyes anymore. At this rate I'll be blind by 50.

HK, I am near sighted also, so I take off my glasses to read or model

Seeing can be helped, as you have found out,,,,,,but, you are truly feeling your years when you can't find the tool you "know" you just put "right there",,,,,,,then you find it, and if you remember after the long search what you were going to do with that tool,,,,,,,and then Uncle Arthur rears his head, making your fingers "feel bitten" as you,,,,,,,,hmmm,,,,,where was I going with this?,,,,,,,oh well, if I think of it later, I will open FSM and forget to type it then, I guess

I guess I am lucky(?) to be so near sighted. I take my glasses off to see up close, and can see very well. Blind as a bat when I look up from my work though.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

I find I can always get more powerful optical aids to vision. It is the loss of manual dexterity that is bothering me.  I had begun to only build larger scale, avoiding the real small stuff.  Lately I have felt this is self-defeating and have concentrated on the smaller stuff. Indeed I think my dexerity is improving a bit, though still a problem.

Also find my concentration wanders after awhile, and I have to build for shorter periods and take more rest periods.

Today I had to put on my readers AND my optivisor  to see what I was doing.

That is all.

Welcome to my world bro'!Big Smile  Hey, you should see me shuffle through my readers, prescription glasses and prescription shades when I'm shooting.  Just looking for that "magic" combination I guess.  At least it gives me a built-in excuse for those poor groups, lol.

Yes, it certainly beats the alternative!

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

NOT getting old    is even worse  !

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
