You can still get the oil rig? Do you know of any distributors you can get it from or do you have to go straight through R/G?

Hey ! Spru-ce Goose !

The kit when first released had a collection of figures up to and including HARRY S. TRUMAN ! When I got mine the odd part was , it had a cardboard roof !

Thanks for the info, tankerbuilder...Big Smile
I've only seen the Glencoe release.

Were the figures printed on cardboard? Surprise
As for a cardboard roof..........I recall a number of play sets sold during my childhood that had cardboard roofs.
I can't help wonder if the kit was meant to be a toy; the method of assembly seems designed to facilitate easy assembly and disassembly. Hmm

I've seen the White House model before. Wonder if it comes with a "presidential" figure to place in the window?

The Whitehouse kit doesn't come with figures but the U.S. Capital building does.

Unfortunately, I never saw the Capitol Building kit in hobby shops ........Crying

I have both of these kits and want to build a diorama using them but haven't figured out how I would do that.

Yeah, especially if you did them both in 1/144 scale so you could have a good display of canyon walls for them to fly through. That would be so cool.

Oh well. Be cool if it did.

I'd like to have sniper figures for patrolling the roof top of the kit.

Mine would be a 1/72nd scale Airfix kit of a Supermarine S6B. You don't find them too much anymore. Yesterday, while visiting my LHS, I did see an unusual model kit he had for sale - The White House.

This is the kit :

www.scalemates.com/.../product.php

He's selling it for $30.

Offshore oil rig and nuclear reactor? Now those are models you don't see everyday. And I've NEVER seen either one of them.

I've seen the nuclear power reactor kit at kit shows once or twice. It's an old Revell kit from the early 1960s.

The sand worm from Dune? This thread is getting interesting.

Revell did three model kits that tied into the Dune movie. The best of the three was the 1/72 Ornithopter they used to escape into the desert. They also did a sand crawler in a much larger scale, 1/25 or 1/32 if memory serves me. I've got them somewhere. The sand worm is a very small scale, but a very large worm and even comes with the little Freman figures to pose on top of the worm and the worm itself is molded on a sand base.

Below is a link to the box art of the kits.

http://www.arrakis.co.uk/colpage5.html

That's interesting Rob. I've got the three kits somewhere in my stash. Picked them up at a show years ago, only time I've ever seen them. Guess I totally missed them on their release. I intend to build 'em some day- though I'd like to add some detailing. A guy in our club took the Ornithopter and modified it and built a small diorama to depict the crashed one that Paul and Jessica escaped with early in the movie version of the story.

This isn't as unique as some of the models you guys have posted, but I think it's pretty cool. I just picked it up today for $9  Smile

I just recently picked up on Ebay the old Aurora re box of the Guillotine. That one sets it apart from my entire stash.

Yep, that's it.   Thanks Rob!  Phoenix was the company.   I wonder if those kits are still around?

Gary

I googled the name and I saw many listings at various online retailers. So they may still be in business, or it could be old stock. I do not know.

Got a Renwal Cosmorama Science kit (not really a model) which I sold for a small fortune. Still have the Forb Planet Robot, James Bond v. Odd Job and 2 Airfix (?!) Royalty figure kits. As a kid I bought the Aurora Johnny Unitas kit but sent it back for a defective part and never picked up the replacement. Dumb
