I clearly remember a similar thread a few months back...

I haven't been around long enough on the forums to really weigh in on this, but my bet is the warm weather. I'm an optimist, so I don't think the forums are dying out.

I haven't had any problems with log in. I'm not disowning other people's experiences, but I haven't had any issues.

I'm not one to say the sky's falling, and it's not like there is much that could go wrong. The Kalmbach crew are decent folk, and I think they'd catch on eventually if there really are pervasive and destructive problems with the website. Worst case scenario is, the FSM forums die off and everybody moves to Armorama.

And the big question here is....are they EVER gonna fix it? The way the issue is ignored makes me believe that is a big no.

I think it's worth noting that the Ships section of the Forum is not only alive and well but thriving. It's been covering a wide range of subjects lately, and several newcomers are giving it a broadly international flavor. It's not unusual to read posts from Spain, Germany, Russia, Britain, Australia, and the U.S. in the same thread. Seems like there's at least one new post every time I check.

To be honest, I think some people are over-reacting to the last format change. I certainly miss some of the old features, but the FSM Forum continues to be a huge asset to the hobby.

...and check the box to keep you logged in. It has to be fixed in your end, not FSM.

...except, the feature to keep us logged in isn't working correctly, as we've discussed in two other threads.  And that very likely is an issue with the forum's software and its interaction with the various browsers we all use.  I do not have this issue with other forums that offer a "keep me logged in" feature, and I didn't have this issue with FineScale before the last upgrade.  As a software support and QA person, that's the conclusion I draw from those kinds of clues.  Likely.  Not 100%, but likely.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.

I just joined like a week ago and I think its absolutly ridiculous that every post or topic I make has to wait 24 "business hours" for a Mod to aprove my post or topic.

I thought it was just the first post but I was wrong...I am still waiting for some questions I asked on Friday to even be posted (I guess Mods dont work on weekends)

I have lurked this forum for 6 months or so and liked the fact that it had good activity and a very freindly and helpful membership.

I dont even know why I am bothering because it will be a day or so before this post is even seenAngry

Rocky,

Welcome to the Forums! I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but we've had numerouse problems in the past with spambots and trolls who took advantage of our old open system. Your account is out of moderation at his point so feel free to post away.

Cheers, Aaron

This is pretty much the norm for most internet discussion forums. And the ones who don't do it should, because it is the best first defence against spammers who usually won't take the time to make up a first few posts feigning interest in the actual subject.

I think most of us feel it is a small price to pay to keep the forum as free from spammers as it is, and we all paid our entry fee for a few days. Smile

Relax. No need for you to get all uptight over it. It's the norm for any first timer. Sadly, there are no mods on weekends. Business hours meaning M-F, not weekends. What are you gonna do? Deal with it.

Sorry Rocky, hang in there man, it will clear soon. It does seem to take quite a bit longer to approve lately.  It will be worth it.

I don't know about anybody else, but I simply have no time to post, as all my efforts are taken up in writing love letters to that cutie Elizabeth Nash. She be SOOO dreamy. Heart Stick out tongue

Seriously, I've just been busy. Won't be able to build again until we move into our new house in October. I just try to comment where I can occasionally.

I know I've not posted in ages as I've been working a lot in the last few months. I will agree with a lot on here who mention lack of Admin interaction, its surprised me the total lack of posting form one on this thread.

Also I used to enjoy the Group Builds where Aaron and Tim joined in but looks like those have gone now.

If I'm being honest I think the magazine has dropped in quality as well. I hope it all turns around (and I start to work less 14 hours days too) as I've had some great times here

I think the forums have become humorless and boring, compared to a few years ago.

Agree...the discussions and "back-and-forth" so many people pine for used to be common in here when people were allowed to disagree--even heartliy disagree.  It was fun.  Then the rules changed and everytime someone got their feelings hurt people got smacked into submission, and now the Forum is vanilla in flavor, lest we offend someone's taste...

I agree but, didn't you just join like 20 days ago?, and you remember the good 'ol days?

I also have young children (5 and 1) and chasing them around is tiring. My wife works evenings so after I get the kids to bed it's time to get things cleaned up around the house and then spend time with my wife before heading to bed. Couple that with getting ready to move and there's hardly any time to build. Hopefully this summer...

I find that I'm not posting as much but it's mainly because I'm not building as much as before.  I've got two young girls (ages 12 and 9).  As they get older (especially my 12 year old), they're getting more and more homework and they're staying up later getting it done.  By default, that means I'm spending more time with them helping them with stuff like Algebra, layers of the atmosphere and world history rather than being down at my man cave working on kits.

After the kids go off to bed, that's when it's time for my wife and I to have some good quality "us" time.  That's when we finally get the chance to download about our days, talk about the kids or sometimes it just means passing out on the couch together.  With all that going on, I'm lucky if I build for an hour or two throughout the entire week.  Model building is my chance to relax but sometimes I'm just too tired to relax.

Eric, I'm in same boat as you. I have four kids, three are younger (13, 10, and 7), one older (26), and a month old grandson.

Not much time for kit building. And when I finally do have time in the evening, I find myself on this forum, instead of at the bench. Go figure...

Most of my posts are during the day when I'm at work...
