Yes I was reading up on the 251 kit in a few reviews and saw about the interior gaffes. I think that I can handle that without too much difficulty. And most likely I’ll make one of them into a /10 variant. I always like how they looked with the PAK up top.

Fortunatly i got the original Eduard PEset that corrects the errors. Unfortunatly they stopped it and brought out a new one which enhances them. I need to sit down and compare the Zvezda kit with the ICM one and decide which is the better option, correct the Zvezda or convert the ICM to an Ausf B, but no, it should not be that difficult.

Thanks MC.  Fantastic decal set from Fights On decals, if they lay down well I will for sure be using them again.  Wish I would have bought the A-4M, more options.

Thanks,

Blimey Stik, thats some haul there. And 2 251's to boot. Looking forward to seeing that Chally.

Thanks... I was only intending to pick up two or three items at most... but I got some real bargains. I only wanted one 251, but they made it a pair for dirt cheap...

Can never have enough 251's Big Smile. Plenty of scope for conversions. I have not built my Zvezda one yet but it looks nice. Though there is a major issue with the interiour as the layout is completly wrong.

When bargains like that come along, can't let them pass.

Nice find with the Little nellie.

Thanks.

It's kind of funny that the figure they include in the model is fairly close to how James Bond looked while flying Little Nellie in the movie (with a hard hat & collared white shirt).  But for the box cover it looks like they just super imposed a stock image of James Bond in a Tux holding his gun with his arms crossed (and not on the controls) as the enemy helos fly about  Stick out tongue

Ye, i had noticed that. I am guessing thats off the posters they put out to promote the movie and just stuck him in the cockpit.

 What ship is the Airfix?

Hi,

She's HMS Hotspur, but I may try to build her as HMS Glowworm, since other than the torpedo tubes I think that they were fairly similar. Smile

Nice haul MC!

Well yesterday was our annual AMPS Chapter fundraising auction. I came home with far more than I intended to... but that’s a good thing...

Tamiya early M1 Abrams, Heller AMX-30, Tamiya Panther A (with a metal barrel), two Zvezda Sdkfz 251 B, Airfix Sdkfz 250 (1/32), and a Dragon figure set. Total damage $36...

and then a side deal made with one of the guys beforehand for this M48A2GA2 that was sent to him by accident instead of what he had ordered....

the 1/72 Chally 2 is a giveaway from him for a GB he wants to run on our chapters website to generate more activity there. He brought a box of 1/72 vehicle kits free to any member on the condition that they will build them as part of that GB. Now why say no to that?

Heres what I picked up fo $90 at the local IPMS meeting. The Hornet has three kits inside. Most of the ships have PE Whistling

I can't say i have noticed any warpage issues in Dragon Panthers,

One of my Panther F kits is fine, the other one is warped a bit. Out of the 3 Gs I own, 2 are warped badly and one is straight enough to probably fix itself once you assemble the hull.

It's not unfixable, but it's annoying.

Bish
I like the Dragon Magic tracks, i don't quite see the deal about tracks that actually work. As long as i can get a good sag and realistic look, thats fine. I think people make a big deal about some of these things for no real reason.

I'm not a fan of Magic Tracks at all. They almost always have ejector pin marks on every single track link, meaning you spend more time sanding them off than you would assembling workable tracks without them. They are still way better than the rubber band tracks Dragon now puts in all their kits... (another reason to buy RF over Dragon for me)

I have heard good things about their Tigers but they will have to go a long way to beat Dragons Pantehr kits. I hope they bring out a more basic kit, i am not a huge fan of these complete interiours or working suspensions, but be interesting to see how it builds up.

The Dragon Ausf.G kits are very good, but from what I've seen the RF kit is just a bit better.

It seems to be on par with Dragon dimensionally and some details are a bit sharper (at the expense of more complexity ofc)

They also offer you a couple more little options such as a different upper glacis with the square periscope cut out instead of just the round one found in Dragon kits.

The interior is awesome and more detailed than a lot of resin interior sets I've seen

The working tracks are a pretty big deal for me. Friuls are 36€ here, Modelkasten tracks even more and working tracks are a must have on big tanks for me.

Also, Dragon's Panther hulls seem to be warped a lot in all the kits I've seen in person and RF uses a lower hull made out of flat plates and bulkheads.

If the Dragon kits were still 45€ like they used to be, they would be equal imo.

Alas, they cost the same as RF Panthers now, which means I won't buy any new ones from Dragon. (Says the guy with 4 Panther Gs and 2 Panther Fs Stick out tongue)

I can't say i have noticed any warpage issues in Dragon Panthers, so far i've built an Ausf G, one with Pz IV turret and a Jagdpanther and have another 5 various Dragon Panthers in the stash. I like the Dragon Magic tracks, i don't quite see the deal about tracks that actually work. As long as i can get a good sag and realistic look, thats fine. I think people make a big deal about some of these things for no real reason.

I do know the Dragon kits build up very nicely, my only regret is that i bought PE sets for most of what i have before i had even built one. But the Dragon kits have got very expensive, i notice some new ones out at close to £80, so thats deffinetly going to be a factor. Fortunatly i have all the Ausf G's i want just need a D and early A. I just hope Rye Fields put all their skill into other vehicles, as much as i love German armour, there seems to be more Tiger and panther kits out there than there were real vehicles.

SS,

Nice score! I've been looking at this kit, and then Takom has brought out an Ausf.A with full interior. My problem is I'm more prolific in buy kits than I am with building them, so, I'm trying to resist!

GH,

Very nice haul! I really like those 350th ships, and those bigger scale aircraft will be fun builds.

You know it's better to beg for forgivness, than to ask for permission. A 100 bucks for all that was a steal, she should applaud your thiftyness! lol

Yeah, I'll never get married again, but my 18 yo granddaughter might.

As far a funerals, I'm at the time of life where there could be a few, including mine at some point. Hopefully much later now that I have a new set of lungs.

Yeah, I have one suit for funerals and weddings. All my other stuff is all relaxing stuff. Some pull overs and jeans for when I go back to work.

Last wedding was mine 30 years ago, and only funeral would be where I'm guest of honor.

More over how many kits rather that the cost.  We won't get into where they are going to be displayed since we don't know what or how big a place we will have, or the length of time I have vs. number in the stash.  Will die with a stash left over, so I guess I'll winBig Smile

She is pretty conservative in her buying habits.

I tend to just have pocket t-shirts and cargo work pants, don't even have a sport coat any more, or really any dress shirts.

My lady will be bent when she sees all this added to what is already floating around.

Yeah but they drop $100 for cloths and shoes without batting an eye. Their excuse, they were them therefore needed. I on the other hand go to second hand stores and get what I need, some of them are brand new for a fraction of the price. Pft Huh?
