This little gem arrived Friday.

Im about a third of the way through it already and am pleasantly

surprised at the detail and easy of assembly. It's a very delicate little

thing and requires a gentle touch, but otherwise is a fun little kit.

I hope my paint job can do it justice.

I've been tempted by some of those ICM vehicles.  Pics if you can please.

Last of what I had on order came in from Hannants and the Czech republic.  I'll be converting this to a Marine KC-130J Harvest Hawk from VMGR-352 the Raiders out of Miramar (as part of my aircraft of miramar theme).  The resin from Brengun looks great and I was happy to see that the kit from the 'used' section of Hannants was all sealed in factory bags in the box and comes with a beautiful 47 walkaround booklet from Italeri.  On the shelf it goes  Stick out tongue

Thanks,

John

Nice score John!

So I’ve got a few new additions for my stash…. and bench toolbox

Last week, I found this on eBay for a really good price ($12). Yeah I know that there is a new tool kit out (which is way out of my price range) and this one has a beast of a reputation buildwise… but after reading reviews of the new F-82 kit, and knowing that I can handle old beast kits I jumped on it. Plus it came with some resin & PE to help out and sweeten the deal.

I’m gonna be converting it to a Korean War F-82G, so now I need to order a radar pod and set of decals, which when totaled together still will cost less than 1/2 of what the new kit costs…

Then at Modelzona this past Saturday I found this old gem, again for a fraction of what the online guys are usually asking. I built one long ago and know how decent of a kit that it is. I already have several options in AM decals for this one in my collection, so I’m not worried there.

For my 1/35 motor pools I picked up these two at Modelzona…

And lastly I picked up some build supplies

Bought this as a present for my birthday two months ago and never got around to posting it. Have about a dozen M4s but this is my first M3...

Am currently building the older model of the P-38 from Tamiya and loving it. So when I saw this at the local hobby shop picked it up as an early Christmas present for myself and to give the hobby shop a little help.

Bought a couple large figures but haven't photographed them. I did pick up this figure of an elf from the anime 'Record of the Lodoss War' I'm painting as a Christmas present for a friend. Sorry, already started painting her- I need to move to have her done for Christmas...

Nice.  We should do a lightning GB with all the new Tamiya kit purchases.

John & Gamera, nice scores!

I really like the M3 Lee. Not a great tank, but it did the job when needed. And it sure has a unique imposing look.

John, I hear ya about Lawdog's Henschel. After seeing his, it makes me want to finish my long sidelined ESCI kit of that bird.

This came in this morning:

Giant Robo is from a modern (and animated) take on the old live-actionTV show of the same name.  You might know it as "Johnnny Sokko and His Flying Robot".  This version of GR was designed by one of my favorite mecha designers, Makoto Kobayashi, master of freakish Gundams that look more like fungus or vegetables!  Stick out tongue  Full disclosure - I never watched the OVA series, but I have always liked the hulking design.

The injection plastic, snap-fit kit is by the Good Smile Company, makers of ecclectic kits like the Aliens Powerloader and the Madox-01.  Scale is not stated, but as if to emphasise the name of the mecha, Giant Robo stands a whopping 9.5" tall.  To put this into perspective, a typical 1/144 Gundam is around 5", while the larger 1/100 Gundams average 7".  Only the 1/60 Perfect Grade Gundams at 12" beat out GR in height, but certainly not girth!

Trivia time:  Makoto Kobayashi designed the face to resemble Arnold Schwarzenegger!  Surprise

Gamera, I look forward to seeing your figure painted up!  I got in a figure of Deedlit from the same anime and definitely want to crib some pointers on girlie figure painting, something that I have not really dabbled in.  GR also comes with a 1/20 Ginrei in her classical gun firng pose.

Gamera,

I just got the Plamax 1/20 kit of Deedlit, who I think is the same character as your figure.

I normally don't do fantasy figures, but I liked this one.

I would really like to do some figures, there are some super cool ones out there. I just lack the skillset to make the look good at this point and hate the idea of "wasting" a kit jsut practicing.

During my time away, I sold about 300 kits, mostly armor and a lot of aircraft. I told myself I'd slow down on buying kits just because I got the stash down to a "more manageable" size. Well, the slow down didn't last long!

Two Snap-kits the first from an online shop..

And the other from an ebay deal..

Superb! Especially no painting, well if you don't want to. I have a problem that almost all suppliers want shipping costs more than the price of the spray tin.

Remember , common sense is not common.

A big box dropped this morning at my office:

In addition to containing the last of the Christmas model-related gifts for my friends, I indulged a bit and got myself these two armored oddities.

Object 490B has got to be the most "un-Soviet" Soviet tank design.  In addition to being utterly non-evolutionary from previous Russian cold war designs, it emphasised crew safety/survivability, something unheard of on that side of the Iron Curtain.  Needless to say, it didn't see serial production, but what an interesting design.  Now I know where the Japanese anime "Techno Police 21C" got their inspiration for the tank in the show!

MBT-99A Temtzin, Aoshima 044358 (2009) (scalemates.com)

The VK 168.01 is yet another paper panzer that seems to be proliferating in model kit form, probably due to the online game "World of Tanks".  I think it was an earlier concept that preceded the Maus.  In any case, I liked the silhouette of this one.  I'm just glad I'm not the crewman assigned the task of track repair!

^^^ Monster tanks ^^^

Picked this up on ebay.  A 1/72 or 1/48 CH-53E is hard to find or way to expensive.  Happy to have landed this one for a so-so price.   Part of my Aircraft of Miramar project

Thanks,

Very cool Real G!!!

I saw your kit on Ebay but I one I picked up was about the same price and I liked the pose a lot better. It's the Nom-Nom miniatures version.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/313780300746?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D40e42ff7728f4050a1fcee11e7b384c8%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D224917716384%26itm%3D313780300746%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Aa3399912-7057-11ed-b0ee-cad4b1c0143a%7Cparentrq%3Ac66386521840a0acce8cfa06ffffd6dc%7Ciid%3A1

Mine is the 1/6th scale version- which they seem out of stock of.

I'm trying to rush though painting this one, probably still won't have her done for Christmas though.

After I get though her and the Sadako figure for the figure GB I'm going to try to paint something with the face showing. I've got one of in 1/6th of Quara from Tron: Legacy that I want to start next. I'm happy to answer any questions though to be honest you might be better off watching YouTube videos than the bizarre way I bumble though painting figures...

Nice score. I've been looking for one of these in 48th with no luck. Even the 72nd kits are pricey. Oh well, no rush, I'm not exactly low on kits to build.
