Hi,
Although I really shouldn't be spending money on new kits right now, the other day I saw this Airfix model of the Type 45 Destroyer for what looked like a pretty good price, so I picked it up ...

Nice, i have been meaning to pick one of those up. Just got to find it for a decent price.
Hi,
I got mine for $29 (plus shipping) from Free Time Hobby's close out sale, but have since seen it on eBay for about $26 (plus shipping).
I have to admit that I am intrigued by theway Airfix has tooled this kit, with the main decking piece covering several decks but with the external vertical surfaces made to glue on separately. It reminds me a little of some of the old Renwal kits that were molded similarly (like the USS Farragut). Though on those kits the bottom of the hull was molded separately with tabs and slots arranged so that you could glue all the pieces together from the inside (to hide and glue lines or marks) and then seal the model up later.
Anyway, for this Airfix kit, it looks like it might give me the ability to prepaint at least part of the superstructure side pieces, before attaching them to the deck section, so that I can get a clean delineation between the two. Though, I will probably still have to paint (or at least clean up) the seems where two vertical pieces come together after attaching them, so that I can do a little sanding and filling if necessary.
Overall though it looks like it will be a fun and interesting build.

PS. This is actually only me 4th 1/350 scale ship to buy. I have a Kniaz Suvarov Pre-Dreadnought, a Chinese Type 054A frigate, and just recently bouth a Type 23 frigate, though I haven't started any of them yet, because I was n't sure if I was ready yet to try and tackle them because they seem so detailed. However, the tooling of this Type 45 Airfix kit has got me thinking that (once I finish a couple group builds that I am in) this might be the 1st of my 1/350 scale ships that I start
