Well, last week, I found this kit on sale for a great price online with free shipping, so I jumped on it before somebody else did...

And then a good friend on another site must have hit his head or something because he sent me this surprise package which arrived in yesterday’s mail...

Thank you sir!

Great looking kits Stik....I ordered the same huey yesterday. I have read a few reviews on the kitty hawk huey and those who wrote the reviews were impressed with the fit and the quality of the engineering. Hope you enjoy the build friend. I'll be keeping my eye out for when you build it.

Hey everyone!  I went to the Modelpalooza show(Orlando) in Sept.  It is a great show!  Got to meet up with a couple of FSM friends, have lunch, check out some REALLY well done builds!  Very inspiring to say the least!  Awesome work to all who entered!!Yes

So...everyone who knows me, knows I'm like the King from the Island of Misfit Toys from the claymation movie "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer".  If I see a kit...lonely and no one loving it, I have to take it in...so please don't laugh too hard when you see a couple of my purchases.  LOL!!!  O.K., laugh all day, it's good for you...and I laughed too after I got home with them.  LOL!

Some of the kits (163, F-15) had two complete kits in them!!!  And some...I just bought two of them!  LOL!  Couldn't figure out which H-21 I wanted, so I bought both of them.  Whistling  I got really great prices on all of the kits.  And the Star Wars and Iron Man ones are for the kids....really!  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  Wink

Here they are:

I was very happy to get the rafale, it really looks well done.   I need to get the resin cockpit for the Su-22 that should make it stand out, what it comes with is pretty bare.

the Ki-67 is a old old kit  1966!?    it has the outlines for the meatballs etched in the plastic, so I'll have to fill and add rivits, I consider it a challenge the old sow's ear thing, should be fun.

Nice scores ther Falcon! That Rafale kit is just gorgeous. At least in the box on the sprues. The detailing is lovely to look at. Those other two look quite nice as well. The Fitter has a brutish look that perfectly matches its' strike role.

Just had our annual show last weekend "Nordiccon"  I got some cool stuff at the raffle that will probably change my build schedule this year.

mawright, Special Hobby is out of Central Europe, not sure if it is Slovakia or the Czech Republic, but it’s from one of those two nations.

Griffin, I have not seen the documentary or footage that you mention. But I imagine that a RPG would devastate a BRDM, or any other light armored vehicle type. After all, those were designed as anti tank weapons. And tanks are far more heavily armored.  I have seen several BRDMs up close and personal in various locations and their armor did not impress me.

I do recall the war story of an old army buddy I served with who was with A Co. 1st Ranger Battalion in Grenada, regarding fighting off the counterattack of BTR’s after they jumped onto Pt Salinas to seize the airfield. He was a M-60 gunner there and  his version of events there was quite the tale. Let’s just say the the BTR-60 and BRDM have similar levels of armor  protection, and the BTR’s did not survive the Rangers or their support.

Very cool. I always liked the look of the BRDM for some reason. Its like the cheapo version of the Cadillac Gage V-100. Did you ever see the documentary that CNN did on the Afghan Soviet War? There's first-hand footage of a Mujahideen taking out a BRDM with an RPG. It's pretty wild.

No pic yet, but yesterday got the Revell 1/48 F-15 kit with the screaming eagle decals, and the Oregon ANG tail fins, from my mining claim partner from his 7 year old daughter after I gave her the new White's kids metal detector that I won in a detector club raffle.  She picked it out because of the decals.

Since I live in Oregon, will make a very nice addition to the collection.

I did the snake one in 1/48 for the Stuka GB a while back. Those markings are super  groovy!

I know, looks nice doesn't it. Going to have to get to my Revell 87R-2 at some point.

No, i already have an R-2/Trop to build with the snake scheme. And looking at the instructions, it does not come with the tropical intake, so that means both marking options are incorrect. I was going to get a second one to do a B-2/Trop, but that puts paid to that idea.

Very nice score Bish! You're not gonna build it in the snake markings?

Went into the LHS today and grabbed another addition to the Stuka collection and another new, in this case very new, Airfix kit.

Will most likely put together my own markings for this once i decide which aircraft to do.

Thanks again guys.

While at the show I was extremely impressed by the 1/144 scale aircraft.

So since I will probably be relocating to Dallas in the next few months and my workspace will be a fraction of what I have now I decided to start 1/144 scale and just 1/72 armor. So my first addition at just over $4 is the Academy Luftwaffe F-4F. Becides, I could get a whole air force and army on one shelf.

I have the 1/72 Airfix kit of the BV-141. The rivets are the scale size of a fist. I’ve often thought of getting rid of it but want to try the challenge.
I competed in our local IPMS fall show today, my first competition and brought 17 builds, mostly 1/72 and some of my ships. We were concerned that there weren’t going to be very many entries so I brought several. Come to find out we didn’t have any worries, there were plenty of entries. I won 3 first place, 2 second and 3 third place ribbons. I’m pleased since this was my first competition and didn’t really know what to expect.
I also won several kits in the raffle drawings. The Williams Bros Wright J-5 I bought for $7 as well as decals for the Hs-129B for the western front.

WOW!!! Eight medals, and in your first-ever contest!! Way to go!

MC, congrats on that impressive pile of medals! That's a nice collection of kits as well, especially that Dragon Flak 36 is a treat. The Gearing should be equally impressive, considering it's Dragon.

I heard the Fujimi kit was pretty good. The Airfix, Cyber Hobby and Fujimi all have accuracy issues of one kind or another but they all build into great looking models.

I'll be looking forward to when you get to it.
