Look at what I just picked up. This airplane has a NMF.  You know what that means?  TIME TO BUY SOME MORE BARE METAL FOIL.

Gary: Scalemates is a great website for finding kits and aftermarket parts. One neat feature they have is an indicator if a kit is a new tool or just reboxed.

I use my high powered optivisor all the time!

Hope she builds up nice, falconmod. I can't recall ever building smaller than 1/72nd myself - I can't see past 1/72nd!

Saw this little guy on the shelf at HL and couldn't resist.   Always wanted to do this scheme but couldn't aford the big Hasegawa price tag for the 1/48 scale one.  With the 40% off coupon it was $11 bucks, it was worth it.

I recently inventoried my stash and put it on Scalemates... it was about 50% larger than my last inventory and estimate... I need to live a lot longer than before to get most of it built... and still not tell my Mrs about the latest count either...

Know whatcha mean about living longer. I currently have 168 kits in the stash, including the ones in progress. So, based on that figure and my rate of building, I need to live until the age of about 160 so I can finish them all, IF I don't buy any more kits. God has limited us to 120 years (yep, that's in the Bible), so I better get to building!!

 

Dawg, it's a website that also has an inventory program. They are the best site to go to when you're researching the background of any particular kit. Forum members can update the database to be more comprehensive.

Those new Revell kits are suprisingly good actually. 

And that Fw 190 book is, just like the first volume, just packed with information. I literally learn something new everytime I open it.

Speaking of Revell kits, unfortunately the nose on that G-10 kit is way too narrow. So today's purchase was a new nose for it:

I hadn't seen that King Tiger kit before. I didn't know AK/Ammo was reboxing kits for their brand name.

It's the Takom kit reboxed without the interior. Instead it has added parts for the rangefinder "ears", an E-75 style engine deck and a 105mm gun as well as a couple of other bits to build a late Tiger II or a what-if 105mm version.

DD: Yeah, the T-50 is a neat aircraft and Academy has been doing a great job with their South Korean subjects- great to see their national pride coming though in their kits. And I have a thing for beautiful gaudy airshow schemes.

I actually went on a short trip to the US a couple of weeks ago and visited the Flying Heritage Collection while I was there.

They had an airshow that weekend, but unfortunately the 190 was grounded. I still got to hear it taxi around the day before though. The engine sound on that thing is simply amazing.

I went to my LHS yesterday and picked up some more kits.

The E-4 was a bargain. It's missing the instructions, so I got it for 35€ 

This book also arrived in the mail today. I finally found the 2nd volume at a European seller (amazon of all places), easily some of the best, if not the best reference books out there.

They also keep changing the names which makes it hard to keep track.

They've had some serious issues with the Kiev class that's no lie, but the Udaloy class is a very dangerous ASW platform and the Slava, while there's only one left, the Moskva, can deal some damage to air, surface and subsurface targets.

I don't think they could hold a candle to NATO ships though.

As far as the F4U, yeah, I could argue both sides. I like and I don't like it.

Of course this is all only my opinion.

Oct last year, on its way to Syria. It passed through again in Jan on way home.

They have some great lookins ships as well. 

Kirov class battlecrusier, almost as big as the Yamato.

Slava class cruiser, one of the best looking ships IMO

Udaloy class destroyer. Why can't we come up with somethig that looks this nice?

Just because it looks nice doesn't mean it can do it's job well!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder........which makes me wonder why my wife ever married me, as it obviuosly wasn't for looks.

DD: Great selection, that Hasegawa Ryusei is a great kit, I need to finally get around to building mine. And love that ROKAF T-50B Black Eagle scheme. I've looked at it a few times but never got around to picking one up.

I had never heard of the T-50 until I saw the kit sitting in the HobbyTownUSA in Asheville, NC, a few months ago. At first, I thought it was a modified F-16 kit, so I didn't buy it - the kit box only showed the overhead silhouette view of the forward fuselage, so I wasn't sure what I was gonna be buying, IF I bought it. I went home and researched the T-50 on-line, and was impressed with what I found. So, the next time I was in Asheville (I lived just past the east side of Charlotte at the time), I dropped in and bought the kit - unfortunately, at retail. After opening the box, I was even more impressed (I'll get some pictures of it posted soon) - lots and lots of parts, plus gorgeous decals! And no flat paint!! All glossy!! Wehn you get a chance, Google the T-50 - pretty neat aircraft. And there's a reason it somewhat resembles an F-16.......

I made a stop at Hobby Lobby (I know it's controversial, but it's the best game in town) and found the World of Tanks Chaffee on clearance for a price it's actually worth so I had to grab it.

 

I also found a 1/48 Hobby Boss Sherman for a decent price. I was surprised at what comes in the box! Two different turrets and PE. 

Even though it's only a 1/48 kit it has just as much detail as a 1/35. It looks like a really nice kit. :)

I found a Hobby Town in Redmond, WA. I thought they were all gone in this state!

This little beauty was found in a guys garage in Port Townsend. 

My folks brought it back for me while on a little vacation there. I'm looking forward to putting this one together. :)

Great haul, Mike! I've got the later version of the Shinden kit by Hasegawa (1995 boxing), and also the Zoukei-Mura kit that was released a couple of years ago. I didn't realize that Hasegawa had released it before 1995. Cool!! There are actually some grainy videos of one of those flying just before Japan surrendered back in 1945. Just Google J7W1 and you'll get a list of them.

And, just in case you didn't know (I certainly didn't until my daughter-in-law corrected me), it is pronounced "Sheen Dehn", not "Shin Din" like I thought. Some more interesting trivia for ya!
