How many models do you have going at the same time?

Ug. None. I had to put my "toys" away again. Wife issues.

I did have four on the bench before I was given the "talk" again, but I seem to be revolving through about 8 or 9 builds depending on my feelings on the subject matter at any given time.

Inevitably, as hard as I try, I start more than I finish. I just can't seem to help myself.

I want to build them all!! Lol

One, i can't handle having multiple builds, would rather just concentrate on one and get it done.

Too many.  I once tried to paint a bunch of Luftwaffe planes "production line" style, but it failed miserably!  All that mottling takes too much time per plane, so having two or three lined up doesn't work for me.

Now I work mostly on one at a time, but still nothing gets finished! I am trying to get out of that rut, honest. 

I'm with Bish, I can't do even an OK job with one build let alone multiple projects.

The funny thing is a can manage dozens of work (paid) projects at any one time, just no builds.

There have been times where I had multiple projects going at once. I mean, six, seven, eight, or so. All in various stages of progress. When I would hit a point to put one aside, I would move to another. But that would assure that I took longer no longer to get back to any particular one to reach completion. So right now I try to work on only one all the way thru to completion. And one at a time finish up those sidelined builds that have accumulated over the past several years. No more multi tasking model style.

Two, a main project and a "fiddle about" project.  

Right now, I have a 1/48 F4F-4 Wildcat as a main build.  However, I have a 1/35 105mm howitzer as a "fiddle about" project.  It's good to have something to work on while paint dries on a main build.  

I usually have two under way.   I use enamel paint, and drying time is a big issue.  I happen to have three underway at the moment- one is a tank with individual track links, and I am having to apply links one at a time in certain areas and am allowing a full day for each link to set, otherwise two is normal.

Still kind of new to building, but I have had two most of the time.  One armor, one aircraft (cuts down on the chances of gluing a piece from one kit to the other).  That being said, I tend to put a lot of energy into one or the other for stretches of time.  I can't control bench time, so having two in the works also helps keep me at the bench while glue or paint is drying.  I couldn't handle more than two.

I did find with my last two builds that if I hit a point that was frustrating me, I could work on the other, and then get back after a "cool-off" period.  That actually worked out well, as the cool-off gave me time to re-think what I was doing.  My first inclination about how to do something is not always the best.

I can only manage one build at a time.  It's not a problem for me when I have to pause to allow glue or paint to dry, since music is one of my other hobbies and I have a small recording studio in my basement.  Shoot some paint, go play my guitar...

Two or three but also a shelf of doom.

I usually only build one at a time but I can see another in my near future. I have embarked on my first 1/350 scale ship ( eagad all those parts ) which is going to take a long time to complete ,so I will take a frustration break and do an easy aircraft ,or parts of it at least at the same time to recover my sanity.

a word of caution on GBs.... so many of them sound tempting, often in the same timespan, and it's easy to get overcommitted. Next thing you know, you have lots of shelf queens sidelined because you missed finishing for a GB deadline, but another tempting GB came up. Or some variation along those lines...

a word of caution on GBs.... so many of them sound tempting, often in the same timespan, and it's easy to get overcommitted. Next thing you know, you have lots of shelf queens sidelined because you missed finishing for a GB deadline, but another tempting GB came up. Or some variation along those lines...

 

 

I have been in the position where i was commited to loads of GB's and was racing to meet the dealine and move to the next. I stil have 4 armour kits i nee to finish dio's for because i didn't have time. Now, i only commit to 2 or 3 at a time. And i decide what i will be building over the next few months and if a GB fit them, then great. I found i was building just for GB's rather than bulding what i wanted to do.

I limit myself to one at a time.

Usually a few at a time. Gives me something different if I get bored or frustrated. Also prepping car bodies on the side for paint. Can't spray indoors so I'll get the bodies painted and build the rest in bad weather

Thanks for the warning.  Message received.  I will stick to the 2 kit max. 

I actually really want the Monogram Mafia badge, but based on my last two builds, getting two kits done in 6 months is not realistic.  I have the kits taunting me from a shelf near my bench.  Seems like that one will come up again, though. 

And then I will have it.  Yes, I will.  Bwa hah hah.

For the MM IV GB, if your build pace is not too rapid, pick smaller simpler kits. Their 1/48 B-29 and B-17 would not be wise choices. But a couple of their older single engine/single seat fighters in 1:72 or 1:48 will work easily enough. Especially non NMF single color schemes. 

I know there are a few in my stash I would love to build, but to do them as I want them to turn out, they are not wise choices.

Just one. For me, doing more than 1 = 0 done. 

I try to limit my builds only two, but sometimes I get a third one going.  At the moment I have two going.  One is almost complete, the new Tamya S35, just need to do the tracks and then the fun pant job.  The other is the Tacoma dual FLAK gun.  I get tired doing the individual tracks so I shift over to the gun.  That's how I've been building since I've been doing models.  When I get bored doing one task I shift to doing something else.  Keeps it fun.

Right now, I have 3 planes, 1 tank and 1 ship working on the bench. That's about the norm for me + or -. I like to keep moving when working on the bench. Various jobs that I have had required working on several things at the same time and I guess I've gotten used to it. Don't enjoy just sitting at the bench waiting for glue or paint to dry.

Well, I am already committed to 2 group builds at the moment.  I will see how quickly  these kits get done.  I have a Monogram Stuka and a P-39  in 1/48 I would like to build.

no way I could do more than one model at a time , apart from the cost , doing period ship's is taxing enough .

Only one at a time. I can barely keep all the pieces together or remember the overall plan for painting and weathering. Not to mention all the research I do on painting parts. I'd be so mixed up I'd probably glue a wing onto a tank.
