Hi;
Our Hobby Lobby here in New Braunfels is doing pretty good. Airfix and Armor is great. Planes are good. The Ships are left wanting with the usual Titanics andlsrge carriers in 1/700 scale . Armor looks decent and Airfix is there with the Quick-Bilds and Glue kits .
Tamiya and the rest are underrepresented as usual. The last time I was there Model Master was low to Non-Existant. Acrylics in most brands out the wazoo. I still hate the stuff. You shouldn't have to thin to brush and brush coverage is for crap.
But, The environmentalists have struck hard on the paint industry and Rustoleum ( Model Master/Testor's) new owners are letting the product line hopefully die. Why? Who Knows ?
I will buy Nail Polish and Auto paint before I use any Acrylics on Autos, Ships and Planes. Again ,brushability is the reason. One bottle ( Large) of Modelmaster Haze Grey Thinned for a 1/200 scale model will paint the whole thing in a good cover coat with minimal to no brushmarks . That's what I expect.
Hobby Lobby's craft paint line Brushes okay, But,You need very good quality brushes. Not the usual run of the mill general purpose type. I am talking Artist quality here ( Oil ). Like Sable or Mink hair .
They only had half of the usual line of cars. A lot of empty space .
