Actually it was a gift to me by a friend who I am helping to get a job in our office abroad. I think he got it from Lil's years ago. I myself haven't found one recently but I'll ask around. I'll inform you if I can find any.

Thanks.

R.K.: Nah, I got my avenger in Lils Makati... But i do like the selection at JMNs... Infact there is something there that i've been itching to buy but don't have the cash for just yet... it's a Hasegawa 1/48 F-4G Wildweasel... Oohhhh, boy! As for your PAF questions, i think you should ask Tony when you drop by for a visit this comming sunday! The meetings are held at the UP Diliman College of Fine Arts. Big Smile [:D]

Hi Shrikes,

Thanks for the addy! I'll check it out once I get home. I'll surely go to JMN's (and H&C) one of these days, but first I'll check their site or call them if they have some or all of the stuff I'm looking for. I sure hope they have a good collection of kits. Is that the place where you got your Avenger? I think I also have your addiction -- I see my stash of unbuilt kits already piling up!

Haven't checked all info thoroughly yet in the IPMS-Phil site, but I'll try to attend the next monthly meeting for the sked. I hope it's gonna be held nearby.

By the way, I plan to do a PAF F-5 in "jungle" camo scheme once I finish the models that I'm doing now (IF I finish Big Smile [:D]). Do you know or have references on what the official colors and the pattern should be? Am not sure if this is the same SEA camo used by the USAF during the Vietnam war. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks,
RK

I forgot about Hobbies and Comics! Hehehe.... I know i have JMN's business card somewhere here... Though i can't find it. Tell you what, here's their web addy: http://jmn.cjb.net/

It's easy enough to get to though. Take the MRT all the way to Taft, then take the LRT to the Vito Cruz station (in front of La Salle), cross the street, turn left then get a pedicab at the corner to take you to Harrison Plaza (about 20 pesos).

Hmmm... if you want to join a modeling club, you're welcome to drop by one of our monthly meetings! (That's how i goot hooked... Wink [;)])

Thanks a lot to you both, Shrikes and CBrain, for the info. I'll certainly check out the two shops you mentioned. Not ready to get into resin, yet, though. For starters, I just need to look for and get some PE cockpit parts and AM decals to replace some crappy ones that I have. JMN's Hobby Shop seems to have more expensive products, though, if it gets its stuff from Hannants. I sure hope not. Well, anyway, maraming salamat and I appreciate all your feedback.

Am planning to join a local modeling club but I'm still looking into each one that I can find. Still have not figured out, though, the difference between the different groups in IPMS Philippines. I'm open to what suggestions you guys may have.

Keep on modelin',
RK

P.S.: CBrain, was that you in the Unang Hirit pix? Smile [:)]

P.P.S.: By the way, Shrikes and CBrain, do you have phone numbers or URL's for the two shops that you mentioned? Thanks for any info.

As you can see, I'm new to the site and an amateur modeler at that. It's quite nice to be in this forum. I think this is a good site and everybody seems to be helpful, though there have been rough spots as I have seen (just found out but don't know the details about the spat between guys nicknamed BlackWolf and Gary), but these are few and far between. Anyway, I hope you can help me out with a few questions that I've been meaning to ask my fellow Filipino modelers ever since:

1. I buy my modelling stuff from Lil's Megamall and Special Toys Cubao (both branches in Ali Mall and Rustan's), but do you know where I can buy stuff like photoetched parts, AM decals, sheet styrene, etc.? The shops above don't carry such items, although Lil's used to sell Tamiya PLA sheets, and ST used to sell Evergreen products (I use the stuff to scratchbuild instrument panels, walls and floors on my kits that don't have them). I wonder where you guys get your accessories from, specially the expert modelers.

2. What is the Bert Anido chapter of IPMS Philippines and how did it come to be? I thought there would be an IPMS-Manila or IPMS-Cebu, for example, but why one named after a certain person? Are its rules different from other chapters? What are the other chapters?

Yun muna, mga kaibigan. I still have other questions but I don't want to overwhelm you guys with my noobie queries. Till then, salamat at mabuhay kayo!

Welcome to FSM Reluctant Knight.

The questions you've posted have mostly already been answered by Shrikes but I'd like to add that AM decals and styrene sheets are also available in Hobbies & Comics in Makati Cinema Square. Smile [:)]

The IPMS Philippines you're talking about is also the same group now known as the IPMS Philippines Bert Anido Chapter. Bert Anido is the founder of the group IPMS Philippines way back in 1968. Big Smile [:D] Just check out the link to the club's website shrikes posted. Smile [:)]

Lani: The person who's building the Blackhawk is Dr. Hermie (the same guy who made the disappearing gun). He jokes that it's been like that for the last year, and, most likely, his grandkids will be the ones to finish the model (probably when helicopters are obsolete!) Big Smile [:D]

Dwight: Wow! It's not really OOB anymore is it? I have one of those as well, and it's tiny!!! The brake lines are superb! Thumbs Up [tup]

Lipton: I think the best part of that jeep has to be the padlock! (it moves too) Great work! Bring it to the next meeting so we can scratch our heads wondering how you built it! Wink [;)]

Yeah... Steve-O (Blackwolf3945) is the kind of guy that speaks his mind, and Gary took offense. Steve-O has become a rather good friend of mine here in the forums, and is a very generous person. He loves finding images to help people with thier problems (He was the only one who was able to find color interior pics of TBF/TBM Avengers). He also hosted weekly Identify the Aircraft Quizzes that were such fun. It's rather distressing, and the forums have lost more good people as a result. As for your questions, ask away! We're more than happy to help!

I'm hardly an expert modeler, but you can get PE and AM parts from JMNs Hobby Shop in Harrison Plaza. You can order what you want from Natalie (the owner) for as long as it's available from www.hannants.co.uk She charges the same rates as the website does. Actually, come to think of it, I did see some AM resin parts in a display case in Lil's Makati... but the selection is rather limited.

IPMS Philippines, Bert Anido Chapter is named after the late founder and first president of IPMS Philippines. If you want more info, there should be a history at our site: http://www.ipmsphilippines.com . There is also a club named IPMS Manila, though i don't think there is one in Cebu. Sigman would be knowledeable about that one.

The Blackhawk and the brass cannon is the work of Hermie (the doctor). Cool [8D]

Dwight
Nice bike, I've been looking for that kit for quite sometime. What kit brand is it?

Here's one of my work in progress. I still need to add 'A' type tow on the winch, some stowage, antennas, lights (masked), and weathering.

Good day all! Wink [;)]

I missed the show. Got to leave the house at 630 you know. Anyway good to hear that modelers are getting TV exposure now. Maybe a modelers' show next time on TV?

Anyway back to business, here is what I have for now...an BMW R75 with Sidecar.

I am still painting this tiny thing Big Smile [:D] but still not done on the details yet. Basically this is almost OOB but with the addition of hand brakes, brake cables, lighting wires, fender supports (from paper clip). Still some things to add to it like spare tires, bags, etc but after the painting.

After painting the details and putting on the decals, I will weather this beast.Wink [;)]

Probably I will be done with this after a month.Big Smile [:D]
