Well, I’ve I had good results with both, GMW and Squadron. GMW is slow compared to Squadron, but one of the advantages that GMW store has, is that they have a 1-800 number, which is nice. I know it can take somewhere between two to four weeks to get your items, but in the mean time, I usually find something else to do. There are a dozen other things you can do besides build models.

I always like to deal with Squardon, I can place my order on Saturday and have it by Thursday or Friday. Dont like GMW take to long to ship or dont have what I want.

squadron's good about that. Think this last order with GMW took 2 days after I phoned them the last time.  I've given up on GMW.

Ebay anymore, so much cheaper, except for new releases. I like Greatmodels website, pictures for everything. Who can that? Squadron has great service. Rollmodels was very expediant.

I've purchased all of my kits through www. rocousa.com.  They do charge a $4.50 US handling fee however, I try and purchase of all my products in bulk, which saves me money in the long run.

The only thing I would change about Squadron is that it would be nice if there was some way to check your order status online. However, it seems like they ship fast enough that you don't need it, but I am thinking about if something gets backordered, you can check on it periodically to see whats going on wiht it. Just a thought... I know thats rare Big Smile [:D]Dunce [D)]

This is why I like squadronBig Smile [:D] I had a kit (the A-6A I'm now building) which had severely warped wing halves. Squadron replaced the whole kit free of charge. I'll stick with them for now onApprove [^] I may order from other places  direct like Paragon Designs, White Ensign Models, etc when I feel  it'd be cheaper in the long run.

I had some store credit at GMW, so I ordered the a model with PE and it is already been processed, that was 2 days ago. Seems like they have there good days and there bad?

I just placed two different orders from Squadron and GM.  All items are listed as in stock.  I placed the both on Tuesday (GM has a great sale going on).  The squadron order was for 2 models and an AM cockpit, and the GM one is for 3 models that are all on sale.  I am on my third and final straw with GM, so I hope this order is completely filled in a reasonable timeframe, unlike the first two.  I'll let you all know my results from the two transactions in a head to head matchup.

Well, as stated earlier, I ordered a PE set from Squadron, had it in less than 5 days! They have my business! MFSob, I agree completely with you, why websites list stuff but don't show pics is beyond me, why would anyone buy something they can't even see a picture of? That drives me nuts Banged Head [banghead] The search thing always seems like a pain in the rear to me, so that doesn't really bug me,but one thing I really like is having someplace you can check on the status of your order so you can tell whats going on!

I'm sure there are a LOT of excellent modeling supply websites out there with fast customer service and good prices, but to get my business it takes two things I'm not willing to compromise on:

1) A Search function that works! By that I mean one where I can type in a word, phrase or numbers and get results from the entire site. NOT one of these things that has drop down menus and more drop down menus and File Not Found messages, which causes a lot of guessing and frustration and me thinking perhaps I had better waste my time someplace else.

2) Pictures of the products! I don't care if it's a PE fret of 1/700 life rings, I want to see what I'm buying before I spend the money. Especially decals - I need to know if there are enough serial numbers on the sheet to warrant purchase, for example, and measurements for things like diorama bases. If I have to take the extra step of e-mailing for more information, I'll probably shop elsewhere.

If a site has these two things, then I am going to spend some time there and probably end up giving them money. If my order gets filled promptly and correctly, they'll probably have a customer for life even if they cost a little more. If not ...

alright i've got to add my two bits to this thread. i've used great models a bunch and i've had multiple problems with them - they have charged me for shipping when they shouldn't have, and stuff "in stock" just ain't. They've cancelled stuff on me too. Now, they have always corrected their financial boo boos and their prices pretty much can't be beat in my experience. Squadron, who I've ordered from twice, has been Johnny on the spot on shipping my order and also, like they claim, if they said it was in stock then it was. Overall, my experiences with both have been pretty good. Tried tower models once and it was a bit expensive. adios muchachos

Absolutely superior customer service and FAST shipping. Mind you, he uses standard USPS or UPS, but the turnaround time in processing your order is incredible. Mr. Gordon Kwan only lists the stuff he has in stock, too....so none of this "OOP" business.

The three that I use are always reliable, and in my opinion top notch on service.
www.spruebrothers.com  - If it's listed it's in-stock, and Gordon's the best
www.wildbluemodels.com - run by a pilot, Pete Fleischmann, great service and a great modeler
www.towerhobbies.com - great service, they list it as in-stock or not
