Don't know why i didn't spot this thread sooner. Well, like littlemoe and Captain Caveman, i collect Zippos (only have 4 so far, 2 are off for repair because of a failed attempt at holy volly...), but that's not really the hobby. I love to do tricks with them. All sorts of things you can do to open a zippo and get it lit. Any of you guys see the Zippotricks website before it closed?

Uh, i play magic the gathering (not really into warhammer, though. i figure i don't need another hobby to siphon money from my bank account). I like to perforate my friends with electronic bullets at the local internet cafe, read (mostly the starwars expanded universe stuff and Military history), Play PC games (for as long as it isn't doesn't need strategy, and it isn't an RPG. the only exeption is "Medeval Total War")...

Movies in the philippines are really cheap about US$3-5, so i collect movies and stay up late to watch them... (i must have something like 200++ titles). can't think of anything else, so there. Big Smile [:D]

I collect coins and stamps with an aviation, military and vehicle theme. I read alot, fiction and non-fiction. Mr King should finish the Dark Tower series! Last but not least are my 87 Vette and the wifes' 68 Camaro RS/SS.

I also love flying, large and small. Ride the big ones, fly the small ones.:) I especialy love flying old WWII aircraft. I have several that I switch between:

Airbrushing, Bass Fishing, Computers, and Gardening.
Also Biblical studies (mostly apologetics and theology), but I wouldn't consider that a hobby really.
Other's that I don't do much any more are: Bowling, and shooting guns.
I bought a used Beeman Kodiak .25 cal air rifle recently that I like to play with once in a while too.
I also built and flew R/C gliders years ago and collected comic books.
Hey Woody, I have Iron Man #1 in VF condition and #2 in NM. My favorite comic was Thor and I still have over 300 of them. Big Smile [:D]

I play guitar in a heavy metal/harcore band, Build (and hack) PC's , play every WWII PC game and do recording/mixing and mastering out of a few studios. I just returned to modeling after about 18 years. Somewhere in between I sleep, eat and go to work.

I design, build/, and fly high power rockets. I collect minerals and fossils and at one time, military bolt-action rifles from the pre-1900's to WWII. I read a lot of military history books, especially WWII - Pacific theater, and have about 700 reference books that give me a lot of data for building models. My wife completely supports all my hobbies; though she does wonder why I buy all these kits at the Squadron open house!

I collect and restore antique clocks. I also collect Ferrari F40s (only models, can't afford a real one) and old wristwatches.
I used to build 1/43 scale resin car kits, but, now I am getting back into modelling, I am having a go at WW2 armour.

Golf and PC games. Especially strategic type games. Right now I am stuck on Railroad Tycoon II which has been out for about 5 years now but I still find myself coming back to it. I wish that someone would make a good airline sim, not flight sim, but run an airline sim. Kind of like Railroad Tycoon but with aircraft.

During the spring I run a company softball team. I used to like to ski, but don't really do it anymore. I occasionally hit the links and like to bowl, which is one thing I'm decent at. Mostly, there just isn't enough time to do it all. Sad [:(]

Reading Sci-Fi, firearms, re-loading, bullet casting, IPSC competition. The bullet casting pays for my models as I sell the cast pistol bullets to other shooters. so far this month, the bullets paid for 6 model kits, with enough stash left over to pay for 4 more kits on order at my local hobby shop.

As good a way to say hi as any I guess :)

I play guitar (badly) build high performance PC systems and tweak the dickens out of them, restore old video game machines (haven't done one in a while) play stacks of PC Games (Just finished Call of Duty. If WWII is your thing you GOTTA get this!) and now I'm coming back to modeling after a whopping 16 year absence. I obviously have way too much time on my hands (which will probably not be the case now I've started building models again)

I've been playing since first edition and I have spent most of my best playing times in Forgotten Realms. I really like the new D20 system and what the open gaming license has to offer. I must admit that their recent release of the 3.5 core books made me more than a little mad. It seems like they are just trying to boost their profits. I have also played about 2 dozen other role playing games over the decades and I have a soft spot for Traveller, The Morrow Project, The Fantasy Trip, and Ruins Quest. Hey feel free to email me via the link below so as to not tie up the modeling forum. Wink [;)]

Besides keeping up with 5 gandchildren and all that entails and modeling, i enjoy computer gaming. Since i am not quick enough for action games i tend to lean towards military strat. The two i am spending the most time with are "Western Front" and "Shogun" I find they stretch the mind which for me is relaxing. Also really enjoy flight sims. Most of my flying lately is Janes f-15 for my agressive side and ms flight sim for cross countries.

I do the r/c truck thing. my wife bought me a traxxas t-maxx as a b-day /fathers day/ gift. I thought the truck would be cheaper than an r/c airplane until a run in at full throttle into a trailer tire showed me just how much stuff can break at one time. that of course was not the last high speed impact with various imoveable objects, but oh well. My dad in law and bro in law also have r/c trucks and we have a good time just burnin nitro all afternoon or chasing my nephews electric r/c around the parking lot.

I have several...

I collect 1:1 scale military vehicles...currently have two, a 1982 M35A2 and a 1943 M3 halftrack...

I also do WW2 reenacting (obviously), and I used to do guitar and lead vocals in several area bands, mostly rock and blues, but that came to a screeching halt when I got married. I've been in and out of several vintage airplanes (L-17 Navion and PT-17) but that too ended when my daughter was born.

So now I model, write, and run a ship modeling website when I'm not playing with the two Olive Drab monsters above....

Caveman,

I didn't realize there were any shows going on. Work tends to suck up most of my time. The few free moments I have are spent either modelling (not terribly well) or trying to pry myself away from SG-1, DS9, or whatever else is on Sky at the time. Got any details?

Well, photography has to be the main one. Out here on the East Coast, there's lots to photograph, as there's so much variety in the landscape.

I also grab the occasional collectable toy. One running thing I collect is all of the Transformers' Optimus Primes that were released in America. I'm only missing a few! Big Smile [:D]

Can you recommend a decent refrence he could read?
Thanks in advance,
Bruce

Sorry I took so long, Bruce, but this is the first time I'm using the computer since Thursday (I use library computers). Right now, I'm reading a brand-new book called "The Encyclopedia of Heavy Metal." It just came out a few weeks ago and I bought my copy over at a Barnes and Noble in Arizona. I forget who the author is (the book is in my car which is parked half a mile awaySmile [:)]), but it is a lavishly illustrated and fully detailed book about many of the acts that performed heavy metal, all the way from Deep Purple and Blue Cheer to Limp Bizkit and Slipknot. (Strangely enough, this book somehow left out Nirvana and one of my faves from the 70's, Foghat.) Another reference may be out of print by now but is worth searching for--"The Collector's Guide to Heavy Metal" by Martin Popoff (spelling?) The edition I own is a 1997 one and I don't know if the guy ever wrote a newer edition (I've not seen one), but it is a 500 page tome (with two columns of tiny type per page) full of Martin's reviews of virtually every heavy metal album ever made; he rates them on a scale of 0 to 10. He reviews albums from popular bands like Deep Purple, Metallica and Led Zeppelin all the way to completely obscure bands such as Picture, Quartz and Hawaii. (To all you Megadeth fans: Hawaii was Marty Friedman's first group!) These two books alone will keep your son busy for weeks!Smile [:)] By the way, what does your son play? I used to play drums in a couple of heavy metal bands years ago when I lived in Hawaii.

I always thought of myself having too many hobbies but reading some of these I may not have enough. I like model trains, radio control airplanes, radio control cars (but actually gave that one to my nephew), playing on the computer and the big one TV. I consider TV a hobby since I spend a lot of time watching it with the family.

I do a little bit in coins and stamps but not what I used to. I like to play hockey. (I play goalie) and I love to hunt, just went down the south end of the province to hunt mule deer yesterday, we were going to stay most of the week, but we filled out within the first hour. my dad got a pretty good one, and I got one that is just a little smaller than the minimum for the record book. so I'm happy, it was my first mule deer hunt, and I got one bigger than anything my dad has got.

I'm usualy over on the armor forum... this is my first time over here, so hello all!

I have TOO many hobbies! I enjoy photoing and driving old military vehicles (tanks), I enjoy my duty in the Guard and I like to pound out replicas of medieval harnesses (suits) of armor... I do one every few years or so, when the mood hits me. Add to this music, my family, kayaking and skiing and it's a wonder I have time to construct my models, but I sure enoy them also!

Tommy,
Reason I ask is my uncle used to race Pro-Stock in the 70's and 80's and then started building engines. He finally retired and is selling his shop this year. He was building engines for Jim Yates and some other folks. I've been thinking about building him a model of one of his old cars.

In the summer, I showed my car, until this fall, I sold everything off my car, now its back to looking like all the others. :( I am involved in local sat night Late Model stock car racing, drove a couple times last year in the pro stock 4 class. Most of my freee time away from modelling is filled with Sci-Fi. I am an absolute science fiction freak. Can't get enough of the stuff. Drives my wife insane. I also read fiction, and really enjoy role playing games (not that kind of role-playing). I used to play D&D, BattleTech, and Star Trek, but right now I'm really into Cyberpunk.

Of course, I can only spend time on the hobbies when the House Commander has decided all of the honeydo's are done. Don't even laugh, because I know the rest of you are in the same arrangement.Banged Head [banghead]

My other hobbies include WWII "stuff", history reading and watching on the history channel. I collect guns and do some work on them for friends. I shoot a lot too, though still not as much as I would like. I do some photography and have shot a few small airshows as well as some at the Dayton airshow. Some of those pics are located at Ron's site under aircraft reference/airshows. I am learning how to work on cars too. I have a 1987 Jeep Wrangler and a 1992 Eagle Talon Esi. I put together a 1979 Chevy 4x4 and sold it to one of my friends. I like to break stuff too!Big Smile [:D] And finally I play D&D. I usually play a fighter or a cavalier...love the "hack and slash".

Jim:
My middle son has gotten into a heavy metal band; just had their first gig in a local bar last weekend. Nothing against Metallica or Ozzy, but it would be nice if his horizons broadened a little. Also, he was blown away by my old Sabbath records from the '70s, he didn't realize a lot of today's musicians go back that far.
Can you recommend a decent refrence he could read?
Thanks in advance,

I collect the old glass insulators that were once used on telephone poles. Indeed, this was the hobby that got me out of model building about 1978. That and playing the drums (which I haven't done in many years--it's hard to play drums in an apartment). I've got about 350 insulators in my collection, most of them in a pair of lighted display cases. They do get dusty! I also study the history and evolution of rock music (particularly heavy metal). Side interests (these aren't really "hobbies" per se, but things I'm interested in and like to read about) include astronomy, hiking (if the mountains don't all burn down) and meteorology, especially violent storms such as hurricanes and tornadoes. Which ties in with modeling as I'm building my tornado chase vehicle and have a couple of planes waiting to be converted to hurricane hunters.

Wow. Anyone who thinks that model kit builders are shut-in geeks ought to look at this thread.

I study aikido -- it's a Japanese martial art that is similar to judo.

I used to shoot competitively in college, but now I just shoot for fun; though I haven't shot much in the last couple of years.

I play computer games, mostly flight simulators. I'm planning on getting my pilot's license and then building a replica of a World War I fighter.

I'm in the church choir and I may end up on the church council.

My wife and I are buying a house this week. So my new hobby will probably be "fixing my house." Smile [:)]

I enjoy playing board games with my wfie and some friends.

My wife and I are also members of the Mid Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, PA. We volunteer for their WWII weekend each year and I help update the web site.

My "other" hobby is vintage auto restoration.
You'd be amazed at just how similar scale modelling and auto restoration actually are.
But at the end of a project, you gotta pay for oil, petrol, insurance, registration..........
When I finish a model, all I gotta do is keep the dust off it.

Oh, lets see. Fishing, hunting, fishing, photography, fishing, military patch collection, fishing, flying and fishing. I only hunt during deer season now. When I was younger, I would hunt almost every weekend during the season and go fishing after the season closed. Northwest Florida isn't the best deer hunting area, but, it is great for fishing.

I also build furniture, train my dogs (have 3 german shepards) in agility and schutzhund, play the guitar, paintball, scuba dive and if it can be called a hobby, tinker in my workshop.

I have way too many expensive hobbies. Modelling is great because you don't have to spend a ton of money to have fun. My others include: shooting, guitar tinkering ( playing and building / modifying ), travelling, boomerang throwing. That last one is also pretty inexpensive and much fun. You can get a really good boomerang for under $25. You might think it is anti-social as hobbies go but they really draw a crowd when you break them out at the park!

Horses. I live on 11 acres and get to use about 100K. I've found over the years that horses are a lifestyle not a hobby. Paul,
As far as fantasy goes, I have about 10,000 points of Chaos (Khorne) and my wife plays Gobbos. I also have a 2,000 Eldar 40k army. I would be honored to have a bit of a "Fatal 4-Way" with you, my wife, and David, if you're both interested. It could turn out to be an interesting battle. Say, 3,000 each in Fantasy?

I don't have the space to list all of my hobbies. I collect guns, only military style though, I'm an amatuer stargazer, I fish, only for catfish though: when bass start getting up close to 100lbs I'll start fishing for them too. And of course airplanes!!! I also like reading and music and I listen to everything from Classical to Heavy Metal (Beethoven to Metallica) Here recently I've been collecting cats (or have they been collecting me?) with a recent addition of six beautiful kittens. Fortunately I'm moving out to the countryside in NE Texas so my animals won't be a problem. I also occasionally play video games (love Rush2), Card games (Rummy is fun, when I win) and here recently my wife introduced me to a PC game called Diablo II that I'm enjoying almost as much as Warcraft!! My Mother says I need to start acting my age and not my shoe size!!! (I'm 40 and I wear a size 14 shoe)

Hey, it's looking like we could get together and play some Warhammer while we're there. Smile [:)]

I got into it during 5th Edition when the boxed set contained Lizardmen and Brettonians. I bought the boxed set and a bunch of Army books. After a couple years of not doing much with it, I'm ready to get back into it and they come out with 6th Edition -- new rules, new boxed set and new Army books. Black Eye [B)]

I wish I would have waited -- the 6th Edition boxed set comes with Empire and Orcs/Goblin troops. Oh well. Smile [:)]

I do Warhammer (hey demono, which armies do you have? I have Dwarf and Khemri and do 40k as well) nature photography, astronomy, play music (guitar, banjo, piano and cello, mostly) and do R/C planes and boats (I guess this counts as modeling but it's very different from plastic) and railroading (same comment).

I really like the sound of "body painting" :) Ofcourse, Id probably be getting slapped quite a bit if I tried that ;) Ive also been wanting to get into restoring some kind of old car, but living in a dinky apartment makes it a little hard. Does anyone do car graphics painting? Like pictures? I was really wanting to try that, but Im not sure what kind of paints to use , or sealers. Does anyone know?

The only other thing I do that could even vaguely be seen as a hobby is excercise, I don't have time for much else!!

As the handle implies, I fish. Lots. Mostly for bass. I also rebuild/repair and collect fishing reels and do some custom crankbait painting. (I clearcoat them with Future, of courseTongue [:P]) I try to tie flies but they turn out looking more like lintballs strapped to a fishhook. -and as if this already dosen't look like HistoryInScale's post, my wife is also a Girl Scout troop leader. Which is odd considering that she screams everytime she sees a cricket.

My only collections other than unbuilt kits are Navy hats. You know, the hats with the ships name and hull number the crews wear. I have just about every ship the Navy has sailed in the last hundred years. Strange collection for a former Army to have i know.My other hobbies include recreational shooting, reading (history mainly), and making sure my Heineken importer never goes out of business. And as a side note toGregers, in the States we call people with more than two non-working vehicles in their yards or garages, rednecks. Welcome to the fold.

Just a couple ...
Collecting Canadian decimal coins, started with some old cents I inherited when I was a kid, and is getting serious now.
Building a 1:1 scale aircraft in the garage, when I can kick my son's trucks out long enough to set a few rivets.
Playing competitive darts (recruiting ad: Do you like to drink and throw things?)
Woodworking. Whenever my wife wants something I make it for her. Latest is bedroom furniture.
In my quiet time I like to read. for some reason my tastes divide between times at home and times away on business. At home I read history, away I read mysteries with lots of gratuitous sex and violence.
Treasurer of my church.
I help my sons with their RC aircraft, started a club in my town.
Oh yeah, I research future modelling projects. Sometimes build them too!

Well, lets see.. I'm soon going to get back into indoor climbing and start using my mountainbike again (what? In Holland??? Its flat! I know, but it gets muddy..). I also do some CG 3D modelling, PC games (hate consoles with a passion) mainly combat sims and basicly any kind of digital imagery I can do. I traded riding stupidly fast motorcycles (saw 165 miles per hour and the damn thing was still accelerating!) in for driving stupidly slow Land Rovers. Besides modelling, my Land Rover takes up most of my time. I also do some creative writing, mainly sci-fi. Here's an excerpt (sp?) from something I just started. Its an old draft, because the latest version is on my work pc at the office:

The rain pattered down on the small fluorescent tarpaulin tent, giving the occupants the impression they were sitting under a rather large bowl of rice crispies. The rounder, older man unscrewed the top of his thermos flask and poured himself and his young companion a cup of tea. The two watched in the silent disinterest only civil servants have as the downpour happily washed the trench they had just (disinterestedly,) finished digging full of mud, water and pedestrians. Any normal person would get rather miffed about their hard work being ruined like this, but these weren’t normal people, these were people who worked for the council! The tall young lad took the tea and nodded thankfully, then stared doe-eyed out into the grim dampness of it all, wondering what to peel the back off and stick onto his Ford Escort next. The new road through the centre of town they had just recently dug up (again), had just as recently been laid down to cater for the amount of traffic (momentarily diverted) that was predicted to come from the new motorway (which was also being dug up… Also again). He watched the as the street slowly transformed into what resembled a huge bathtub, with their trench being the plug hole. A ridiculously brightly coloured beach ball floated lazily past. It was, after all, summertime. Sticking out like charisma and personality at an accountants convention its offensive brightness contrasted with the solemn grey surroundings that seemed to be condescending its frightful lack of manners as it slowly disappeared around the back of the bus stop. This was lost on the men from the council. These men were on a mission. These men were here in the name of efficiency.

Ehh.. What else. I'm horribly forgetful. Ah yes, sci-fi movies and their parafinalia.. I get up to lots of stuff, really. Rarely bored. And when I am it means I should be sleeping.

What a fun topic! I love woodworking and build furniture. I'm an avid pistol and military rifle shooter and collector when the budget allows. I collect 1/18 scale diecast muscle cars and like to dabble in real muscle cars from time to time. I collect comic books off and on and like Iron Man comics the best. Cool [8D]

Other than modeling only other extra curricular thing I do is volunteer firefighting. With running 25 - 40 calls a month plus training that soaks up all the extra time and sleeping time I have. Do like to get in some fishing here and ther but thanks to a doped up guy driving on my side of the road, I did'nt get much of that in this summer, allthough sitting around with nothing to do is what got back to building again.

Man, I don't know where you guys find the time. I'm struggling to find time for my main hobby (models) as it is. I can't really complain though, because my 14 month old boy is really the focus of most of my time (other than work). I will say that I have lots of 'interests', but since I don't really spend much time on them, I wouldn't count them as hobbies:
- RC planes are fascinating to me. My father-in-law is BIG into it and I enjoy every chance I can get to go out to the field with him. I'm flying a bit on the buddy-box, but don't really have anything of my own to crash yet...
- I have a 'dream' of buying an old muscle car and fixing it up. Pretty big aspirations for a guy that struggles to figure out a crescent wrench. I'm planning to "fix" the brakes on my 87 honda civic this weekend. We'll find out if my dreams are destined to be nightmares...
- I do play a little guitar (mostly acoustic, but some electric) in my church band. I've taken a bit of a breather recently though, and am letting some of the younger talent show their stuff...
- how can I forget the 'forums'. It's really turned into a rewarding hobby in itself... even if it does take away from actual building time.

Cheers...

Does touring various Buffets and "all you can eat" restaurants count as a hobby?

Hey, I figured if I was going to ask someone questions about why they collect the things they collect, it's only fair I should be honest about my own collections. The entertainment center we have has the glass cabinets/shelves on each side for displays. On the one side from top to bottom it goes: 1. Cherished Teddy Bears; 2. NASCAR collectibles (diecast, pictures, etc.); 3. Diecast Armor & Aircraft models (so the boys can look at them); 4. LEGOS and miscellaneous toys. Wink [;)]

I fly R/C helicopters and planes. I mean, simply building static models of them doesn't quite satisfy my love for them. I need one to defy gravity also.

Chris,
A fly-tier, huh? Question: How do you get the fly to hold still long enough so you can get the thread around his legs? Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Other than modeling...I fish of course, I enjoy boating, I just recently got out of competitive shooting but I still shoot for fun. I help my wife with her girlscout troop(thats more of a chore than a hobby but Im proud to say that troop 407 can outfish any other troop in our council!)...I read, I READ ALOT! I make castnets...something my grandfather taught me,I also tie flies(though I dont fly fish...much),I also build and wrap rods another thing my grandfather passed on to me. I race 1/10 Nitro RC cars, along with 1/8th scale buggies...not as much as I used to but about once a month. I also collect firearms...I "tinker" as my wife puts it! with my 73 Scamp(which I have nicknames Ma's GroundPounder)....the list goes on. Im constantly switching up what I do...I may like it all but certainly dont have time to do it all...So I'll do something until I get burnt out....then do something else for a bit.

I don't know that it's a hobby but I love riding my motorcycle. Great stress reliever! I also love fast cars. What can I say, I'm a speed freak. My friends tell me I should have been a NASCAR driver Tongue [:P]

I don't have any real collections other than my models.

Hmmm...I guess I have more interests than traditional Hobbies.
I like to tinker with Honda automobiles and drive, let's say, enthusiastically. I try to do as many, what is called, High Performance Driver Education days as possible during the year. The name is just for insurance reasons, but in reality it's just a bunch of car enthusiasts driving as fast a possible at 'race' circuits.
I also play golf. I played competitive golf in my younger years (high school and undergrad) but now just for fun.
I am a big fan of Formula One.
Listening to music is also a big part of my life.

I've collected a number of things over the years. I used to work full-time as a news photographer, and I have a pretty good collection of old cameras. It's mostly Kodak stuff. I don't really collect them that actively anymore, but every now and then I''ll get on eBay and hunt around a little.

I also have a small collection of pinball machines I've restored. NOT my wife's favorite thing, but she's been a really good sport about them so far!

David,
With all those knives, I hope you don't do anything to offend me, either! Big Smile [:D] Big Smile [:D]

As far as the hats go, I've always worn a ball cap when outside doing yard work, driving the family around, or just generally goofing off. About the only place I didn't (don't) wear them is inside buildings (church, restaurants, etc.). They are great for keeping the sun out of your eyes, and covering up the top of your head during "bad hair days".Smile [:)] Over time, I would see a hat that had a nice design on it and get it. Then friends would find out about the collection and contribute. Soon, I was getting them as presents. I would also pick up one as a souvenir from someplace I visited. And the collection grew. I also think there is a psychological redneck thing going on that I don't want to admit to. Tongue [:P] Anyway, it's just something to take up space in the closet.

And don't take offense at this question, but what's the deal with all the hats? What gets someone started with a collection like that? My stepfather collected them too. Not nearly as many, but he definitely had many, many more than your average person. I never understood it. But I know it's not much different than collecting anything else. I guess I've always just been curious about hat collections.

For myself, I've collected baseball cards, football cards, shot glasses and comic books off and on through the years. It comes and goes, but it's stuff I don't get rid of. I wouldn't call it collecting, but I also like to hang on to WWII and military related stuff. I'm also into miniature gaming (haven't played much lately). Recently I acquired some Diecast armor and I'm liking it (cause it's finished and looks good). Last but not least, I'll be honest...for awhile my wife and I were into collecting Cherished Teddy Bears (easily 100+). I think I was actually more into it than my wife was. Blush [:I]

Other than that, although I do it for a living, I still consider computer programming a hobby of mine too. Tinkering around with things I don't get to do at work. I also play quite a few computer games. My current favorites being Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, Galactic Civilizations, and Battlefield 1942: Desert Combat.

I fly R/C gliders, when I can keep from crashing them. As a result of researching for my WW2 Luftwaffe models, I have been gathering a small collection of hardbound books on the subject, so I'm reading them also, if that is considered a hobby.
Breezely - I know what you mean about Rainbow Six. Took me a year and a half to get through it. Let me know what you think about the ending.

Vampirella?! I used to love Vampirella! Oh well, not much time or money for too much extracurricular activity. Dabbled in photography for a little while-too expensive, collected football cards for a while-gave them away to a deserving youngster, trying to start reading again-on my 3rd try at Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy (I think I'll make it this time), mostly I spend time doing research for what I am anticipating is my triumphant return to modelling. Oh, I also collect ships patches(submarines of course).

1. Strange as it may seem, I like collecting pocket knives, and "ball" -type hats. At last count I have almost 500 hats.
2. My other "hobby" and real interest is music. I currently play French Horn in my church orchestra, but have played weddings, graduations, local university and civic concerts and have played in a couple brass ensembles. I studied for 2-3 years under the principal horn player for what is now the Virginia Symphony, and have been playing now for almost 20 years.

It's just my opinion, but I think model building is just another way to express the creative talents and abilities that God has given us.

You mean there is life outside of modeling? Actually I'm into gardening and like to work with Koi Ponds in my back yard, raise tropical fish (not in the Koi Pond), fly and build R/C aircraft (when I can find the time), collect old knives (have some really unusual stuff in this catagory). Used to collect old firearms but the wife got a little wiggy about that and having kids so I sold them to keep her happy. Collect old coins also - the rarest I have is a 1844 flying eagle cent. And I write also - that is my newest hobby. Looking over this I wonder how I find the time to work - oh, that's what I'm supposed to be doing now, doh!
